Hi from Annie, this is very interesting thank you, I have started my U Tube channel about a month ago I am totally new to this and try to think of how I can make other happy thru doing this and hope that my grand kids and daughter might watch me as not seen them in over 9 yrs , sadly but it is my way to reach out to others and share something good. I need to save up for good camera and mobile and other equipment, so one step at a time. I do videos with out any edits as I am not familiar with editing etc so try to get it right the first time, this is more of a natural way to present topics, so small steps at a time, hopefully things are good from here on. I love being creative and work on my own presently. This is an interesting experience which appears to my creative nature. God bless us all and you have been an inspiration to me as well I enjoy watching you it feels like family so thank you and I love your mum.
As I was watching it as well, I wondered what or if I could even pull it off of UTUBE Entrepreneur but, I have no skill at nothing nor ideas of what I could even be good at.
It is so difficult to get ahead and save money in today's economy. I love cooking and am a foody . I dream of making and supplementing my income on UTube. I miss tax cuts from four yrs ago and saved a lot But with high cost of living its all gone. 😢
I think Dominique was explaining so people understand when she promotes a product. This may have had something to do with a show a month or so ago, the comments were dogpiling on her about something expensive she promoted.
LOL...Not laughing at you but, myself! At the time...the way I am so called " saving" putting back is what I call the Kitty fund bcuz it's my lil' account at home. I put back all spare change in a bunch of Cosco coffee containers that I can & I have put back as much as $879 so far.
It would be interesting to see a “behind the scenes” video on what goes into creating a video, editing, etc.

I think she was very surprised at the backlash from the sponsored detox video recently, thus this explanation on sponsorship. I enjoyed her more personal videos on makeup and clothes as she is an excellent role model in this area and shows a lot of class. Her channel has become more professional and is taking a different direction, and while I know this will have appeal I preferred her more spontaneous original style.
I agree, I think she crossed the line on expectation and thought viewers would buy into it. I also believe (though I don’t know) that her divorce and retirement were poorly timed. Her former husband likely left her more well off than most divorced women and she can choose to be an influencer because it’s her area of work. I also agree with you, her makeup and fashion videos were more fun. I feel she thrives on attention, most of her comments are screened for positive feedback. I was once critical a time ago when she posted a video about budgeting which I felt insulted since her former husband was a multi-millionaire. Glad she’s trying to be more transparent in she is what she is and admitting she is in it now for the business. I follow the beauty trends, the rest, I don’t.
I honestly feel that she may have been placed in a tough spot in her personal life. I respect she is owning herself and trying to build relevance among women. That’s good to see.
This always happens with anyone that I have ever discovered on a CZcams channel they will start off very off the cuff and green and it feels very real and authentic but you know somehow someway they are making some kind of money otherwise why would they do it because it is very very involved and time consuming and who could just afford to make all of these CZcams videos And put out all of this helpful information that people enjoy watching and yet not be compensated. That was her original appeal to me as well I never heard any specific product that I felt was being endorsed just comparing different make up looks and talking about how to up your fashion look and never feeling as if you were being sold anything but her personal style. But alas as her popularity and viewership grew as well as many other influencers just like her these cosmetic companies and other products want a piece of this audience and that money being offered would be very hard to turn down but I think out of everyone that I watch who does have sponsorships she handles it the most responsibly and least intrusively, in other words it is not a turn off because I believe she has integrity about what she will endorse. But yeah I miss her earlier CZcams videos that were less professional. It's kind of like when you see a non-professional singer show up on The Voice or America's got talent and they are very authentic and raw and then the record company gets a hold of them and they lose all of that
@@suzannem6300completely agree! I used to love my Friday you tube fix of Dominique but now, since she moved into her channel, I don't watch anymore. I loved the blow outs, the makeup, the clothes. Now...its boring. So I'm out! And yeah, who spends all that time every week on personal videos, for the "heck of it" to quote herself! It's a real pity though, I would imagine subscribers are bailing out right left and centre. She is a good nice person though.

I started watching you in 2014, this is when I lost my sweet son to a automobile accident and I remember you lost your Dad. You honestly were very helpful to get my tears out of my eyes when I watched. Thank you. You are a beautiful lady and I love what you do.
it baffles me when people think youtubers don't make money or they say this isn't a job ( its a hard one) , like who would put their lives put there for fun, well some people. Good for you ♥ Women should support women.

Loved today's show Dominique and Courtney. Entrepreneurs work 24/7 my husband and I have an electrical contracting business in Missouri and when we were young thinking we would move from Dallas and start our own company in Missouri 38 years ago we had no idea that our lives would change so dramatically and we would be working 24/7 to put food on the table but it is and has been something we love doing. We have raised our children put them through college debt free and God willing we will soon retire or not. We arent people who can sit around when you love what you do and you are making good money it truly is a blessing. Anyway I enjoy and appreciate you, you bring joy and learning to us every week. Regarding the relationship with your audience, it is difficult for both sides to make the transition from Dominique - news anchor main job and personal social media channels on the side - to Dominique needing to generate most /all income from her social media audiences. The only way to maintain honesty in the relationship is by transparency. Bravo!
When the audience knows where the boundaries are, we can feel less suspicious. I hope that all makes sense.
And you definitely do not have to apologise for making money, as a previous commenter said.
This channel has inspired, influenced and challenged me in equal measure. Dominique, how you manage to be the face and person receiving the comments and attitudes of 1.85 million people is beyond me. For that, again, bravo!

I rarely have bought anything I have seen from a commercial, and I see sponsored videos as the same thing. I watch several popular youtubers who much of the time don't do sponsored videos or constantly promote products. Each to his own though. I must say I enjoyed your videos much more when you first started.
Dominique keep up the good work. I recently turned 65, am divorced and am not rushing to retire because I love what I do! It is clear that you have a passion and a strong work ethic.. Dominique, what you do is like teaching. You never stop preparing like teachers do. The difference is that your audience is receptive and caring. Kudos to you for doing an awesome job and not overwhelming your audience with sponsors. I have dropped more than one channel because of the continuous selling.
I would love to see some reviews on makeup that doesn't have any toxic chemicals in them. How is the coverage, etc. So many of us deal with auto-immune issues and are trying to use products that won't contribute to our toxic load. Thanks for all you do!

As a 54 year young professional lady, I am envious of the channel and community you have built through your genuine talent and personality. I am retiring at the end of this year and have thought about this as a possibility. What I don’t understand is how many people want to complain about the sponsored content….. really? I have been a viewer of your channel since the beginning; there is definitely a difference in your UTUBE channel; I think the difference is that it doesn't feel so personal and more polished then in the past; I remember when you gave advice of skincare with simple products, makeup affordable; as time progressed and you got more people involved it changed; I have others that I have watched for this period of time still feeling very personal; they are still doing their own content with little help; frankly I will continue to subscribe but I don't find myself looking forward to your content every Thursday like I use to. I find I skip it more then watch these days; I wish you luck and success but I do miss the good ole days.

In fact, I often wonder why more creators don’t do more sponsorships. I know I would be if I were doing CZcams for a living😊Anyway, this was a great video. When money exchanges hands behind the scenes, the value of the advice always drops. It’s just a fact of life that monetary reward affects one’s ability to be impartial and probably the reason so many are balking at the increased commercialism on Dominique’s channel. It’s not a total dealbreaker for me; I will continue to watch, selectively and do wish Dominique the best. I understand her need to make a living.

Thank you so much for this. You guys are so cute together, like life long friends. I got really serious about my CZcams channel about 2+ years ago when I was about to be an empty nester. It’s a beauty & lifestyle channel for the mature woman. It is A LOT of work but I am SO IN LOVE with what I’m doing. I’m a nurse by trade but in my soul, I have sooo much creativity in me. I needed to find an outlet for it. So my questions are:
-what’s the difference between a sponsorship vs a partnership?
-how do you negotiate a contract? For example, as a small channel how much is appropriate to get for a sponsorship/partnership/post/…
-how do you know what a contract is legitimate?
-and finally, speaking of links, I need to know where you guys got those mics!

I started following Dominique around 2019. I was looking for a quick make up look tutorial and when I did a search Dominique’s 2 minute Make Up look came up. CZcams is hard. Yesterday marked my one-year on CZcams, and to date, I have only 386 subscribers. I was retrenched just before Covid and decided, last year, at age 57, to start CZcams. I’m quite shy, not very articulate (not a native English speaker), and not tech-savvy. I think all these work against me 😅

You both look gorgeous and I love your top and makeup, Dominique! A very important video and thank you both for sharing and explaining. I have a CZcams channel ( not this account). I started it in December 2021 and with the intention of being there for people who have the same autoimmune disease as myself. In time my audience is growing and I find it really hard to even think about approaching companies for brand deals. Like, Dominique, I would never accept anything that is not right for my audience, especially as many are suffering with their illness, but some how I feel guilty or bad. My logic is that if I don't , then I won't be able to continue making the videos that people would like to watch.. but still haven't made that brave step. Also, I haven't been approached, so I think seeking brands feels even harder to do so on an emotional level. But anyway, all that to say that this video inspired me to go for it and know that I can still stay true to myself and my audience by doing so.
