Acacio Siqueira Me neither! The closest I’ve ever seen was AC/DC live in River Plate, and even the crowd at that show isn’t even on the same level as the crowd was at this show. Too bad I wasn’t even born in 2002.
I saw AC/DC in Paris during the same tour, and for me it was the most disappointing crowd I've ever seen, the show was great, but I was just in the middle of old dudes just standing there like they were watching TV... The opposite with what's recorded at River Plate. I used to watch this every once in awhile, because it always gives me goose bumps. 60,000 singing along to an instrumental in a country RUSH had never visited prior to that tour. Now, I watch with the same goose bumps, along with tears in my eyes, and the feeling of my heart being ripped out of my chest. RIP to the GOAT, The Professor, Pratt, Maestro, The Great One, Neil Peart. My hero!
Also worth mentioning- official sales of Rush albums in South America had been low and most of their popularity had been down to unofficial copies of albums and bootlegs.

Had the privilege of seeing the Moving Pictures tour at the Omni in Atlanta. Four rows back, center. As a drummer, it was truly like a religious experience when they played this song. So many times on my set of Pearls, trying to match this perfection. Never made it, but damn it was a blast trying. God bless Neil, the greatest drummer of my lifetime, and also one of the finest lyricist. Rest easy brother.
I WAS THERE ALSO, AT THE OLD OMNI IN ATLANTA! I sat right next to stage, where the guys came onstage from the right side! We yelled at them as they passed by, & Alex turned his guitar & reflected a spotlight at us! It was AWESOME! O.M.G.!!! 💪🏼😎👍🏼

Can you imagine a Crowd reaction exact like this, but adding 20 Thousand people more? It happened in São Paulo, i was there! Jumping and singing every note from YYZ!
I can happily say I was there, in the middle of the crowd. And now I wish this stands as a homage to Neil (and the rest of the Band). People there were not just “singing” YYZ, but exploding in ecstasy as this tune represents much of what Rush stands for Rock and Roll (and for ex-musicians-wannabe like myself). This images speak for themselves as an everlasting homage. RIP my childhood idol. You were one those very few to transcend music itself and to become a living mythological god. You were sort of a silent sheperd for me. Thank you very much indeed. Love from Brazil.
This was the last concert of the Vapor Trails Tour. First time ever in South America and the concerts were in Porto Alegre, São Paulo and Rio. I was in Porto Alegre and there were people from Chile and Argentina as far as I know. About the concerts in Brazil, read what Lifeson and Lee told later: “It’s surprising how in tune they are with everything, all forms of music. They don’t speak a lot of English down there, yet the audience was singing the whole night. And they very easily sung along with songs from Vapor Trails as they did from 2112 or Moving Pictures” - Alex Lifeson in 2003. “YYZ was one of the audience highlights of the show. As soon as we started playing that song, the whole crowd started bobbing up and down in time with it. And they were singing along. What was amazing about the Brazilian crowds, when we played some of our instrumental stuff, they would be singing parts, like they had written parts for it on top of some of the music.” - Geddy Lee in 2003.
Ya just gotta love a band that can get 60,000 people to sing along to an INSTRUMENTAL. Rush rules.

From CLE to YYZ and all in between, we all mourn this loss by listening to Neil's best work. Much love from a fellow Rush fan.
Spent 25 years working close to airport . Pretty sure have seen them coming or going at some point in that time!;
jmmacb03 you just copied the top comments why
That crowd is insane!
Mike Patton look the set of skrillex in lollapalooza chile 2015 thats insane
Nioxsanto Noguera who would watch skrillex when you can watch real music?
Nioxsanto Noguera Most people at skrillex concerts are high as hell. Also the music sucks
AtrHoliday ditto
AtrHoliday one can debate if pulling/pushing a few levers and buttons, can be called music
The greatest concert ever held in a laundromat!
I'm Brazilian, all of us love for RUSH!!!
"Music is a universal language"
- An alien from outer space.
RUSH are the aliens' favorite band.
Seriously though, Math and Music are the only two universals!!!!! Music is much better! Lol
wait until the aliens listen to Cygnus...
Leave it to Brazilian fans to sing an instrumental lol.
The only audience in the world capable of that!
The video says Rio? -_-
This is from the Rush in Rio DVD. Rio, as in Rio de Janeiro, (IE. the second most populous city in Brazil).
Bob Dole Go to Brazil and to any spectator event there. The fans there are unbelievable. This reaction to YYZ totally makes sense to me.
i misunderstood Brazilian people only likes such as Bossa Nova until 10 years ago or so ( i just forgot Sepultura was Brazilian band at that time).
idk much about Brazil but every video of their concert are amazing. Those people love music.
Live album on Spotify of this tour is this but even better audio qual
Nothing like going to a rock concert in South America, especially Brazil. I had the great experience of living in Brazil for three years. I saw show sin Buenos Aires and Sao Paulo and the crowds were always amazing.
I saw Rush twice in America. Everyone kinda just sat there and listened to them.
In RIO? They now how to party to this song!
yeah thats how we do it man... ha ..i saw them in america as well..but im back in brasil and i went to see them agaian...i was there at this concert...was a lot of fun..
Jose Andino amen brother...the UK could learn from this....the clockwork gig was a bit lame audience wise....but Rush were fookin amazing :D
Well I have seen them a few years ago in Birmingham, UK and the crowd was fantastic, but who can compete with the Brazilians?
A lot of it is because of the venue style. Rushed stopped doing general admin and switched to seated which is a lot harder to have fun in
Saw Rush 13 times. While I don't think everyone just "sat there," I can tell you that American crowds changed after the Rush in Rio video dropped. Best live album ever. Best live convert video ever. These are clearly football fans. Go to a football match, you'll see fans going off like this. (Not American football, what the rest of the world calls football and we call soccer).
one of the best crowds ive ever seen
Prashanna Gautam one of? i've never see' something like that before
Acacio Siqueira Me neither!
I just think Parisians are dickheads, and paris isn't rock n' roll, South America is not a natural place for this too, but at least people there know how to have fun.
they are all on drugs. The band isreally believing they like the song lol
Medmac ac dc donnington is close !
The beautifully humble part of Rush is they had no idea the Brazil fan base was so huge and so enthusiastic until the Vapor Trails tour.
No other band on the planet was capable of having the fans engage in a "sing along" with an instrumental. AMAZING!
Alex Lifeson is so damn underrated
Konacno neki Srbin u komentarima.... :)
Brayden Keynon ď
Alex Lifeson is only under rated till you listen to Rush...then that's all she wrote. You're like: "God Damn these dudes are the truth...
The whole goddam band was underrated!!!
@BAZ INGA er, i meant they were underrated by the music media and pop culture fascists.
Also, this is my goto song for karaoke
Better than Tequila, that's for sure
HILARIOUS!!!
You must steal the show!
I prefer the main monkey business
There's never been anything like this, and there never will be again.
Most amazing live performance of an instrumental with audience 'sing along' ever !✌️
Had to come straight here after hearing the sad news - RIP Neil Peart
RIP Neil Peart, you'll never be forgotten...
I swear, Alex Lifeson doesn’t get the credit he deserves as a guitar player.
So many great solos from Alex. Truly one of my all-time favorites.
How???
@@pipespeeps5349 People always say that cause the internet never puts him on their top 5 or top 10 lists as opposed to Geddy and (specifically) Neil when it comes to their instruments. But honestly it means nothing - fans of Rush know the deal and that's all that's ever meant anything to Alex. Rush transcends "top lists" and other mundane BS.
EVH once said Alex Lifeson is one of the best, or his favorite. I forgot which.
I mean any guitar player I know adores him.
He may not have that mainstream household name like an EVH or even Carlos Santana
But Rush is very much a musician's band, yknow.
He's easily in my top 3 biggest influences to even play guitar in the first place. I'd put him above Iommi
Jesus it looked like I was tripping almost the way the crowd was jumping up and down. Looked almost like they were just waves rising and falling, they were so synced up. Why can't north american audiences be that rowdy?
they are to fucked up trying to watch the concert thru a cell phone....
yeah we don't appreciate bands as much as they do
Sadly we are losing this kind of atmosphere here in Brazil too ... fucking phones.
@Old man this people arent poor, but this was the first rush show in Brazil, so that is a factor. But brazilian audience was like that on every show, not only on big international ones. Rich or poor.
@Old man it doesn't matter the social status.
Best Crowd ever!! Viva Brazilia from Iraq :
You can tell Geddy and Alex are totally in the groove here and are really vibing off the crowd. I love seeing it
Very few bands consist of two guys who were as good friends as Geddy and Alex.
Honestly, there’s almost nothing in the world like South American rock fans. This show, Alice In Chains at Hollywood Rock, Queen back in the day, Argentina coining the “aguante megadeth” chant. The artist appreciation down there is so explosive and pure.

Thanks, man!
What an amazing audience.
I can say with 10000%% certainty .. Brazil SURE LOVES Rush!!! Holy Moly!!! They are jamming.. that crowd is LIT!!
THE BEST CROWD EVER! THE BEST EVENT OF THE WORLD HISTORY!
poucas bandas se dão ao luxo de tocar uma instrumental e receber essa reação do público
love Rush 💖
Brazil=hands down the best fans ever!
argentine crowd are better
Alberto Sampietro siempre ellos los mejores en todo, mierdas!!
Awesome
Alberto Sampietro lol its funny cause only u argentinos say that... except its also true both son los mejores
Alberto Sampietro No, they’re NOT
PROOF of THE Best Band and Fan combo in the Universe!
Rush and Brazil were made for each other!!!
+BasqueNYC
Oh yeah!
That crowd was intense.....
Even the band was amazed
At there energy....it put a extra spring in there step
Greatest music fans on the planet. And they thought they might not even know who they are?! They were selling them short. God bless Brazil. And God bless our Canadians boys
Only band I know that can get an ENTIRE crowd to SING an INSTRUMENTAL song!! Awesome!
the only band where the guitar is the instrument that is the least in the spotlight
Could make a case for Primus
Tool
The Doors (Hey you kids, get off of my lawn!)
the melvins they have two drummers
Giiggle And RHCP
They were a four piece that night.
Wish I was there
One of the top live videos out there
At Le Zénith, Paris, France... less than 1700 during Roll The Bones Tour. It was my very first gig... UNBELIEVABLE! I was 14. Except for England and Germany, Rush never won the hearts of Europeans...
The lyrics in this song are amazing!
BEST DRUMMER IN THE WORLD!!!!!!
Frank Edward AND THE BEST BASSIST IN THE WORLD!!!!!!
AND THE MOST UNDERRATED GUITARIST IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!
Frank Edward
Definitely top 5 for me. The holy trinity reigns supreme
Drummer yeah, bassist shared best place with Claypool... And lifeson is like a sick underrated guitar-playing uncle
RIP
Wow, man this has gotta be one of the finest moments in the history of rock! The crowd, the band, the music and everything's so damn fine.
Not one single F**** cellphone!!!! AMAZING!!!! Just 60,000 people enjoying one of the best banda ever!!!
In my book,,Best Three Man Group Ever!!
Thanks for your Great Post
Best Three Man Group, From Canada
@@robertthomas5736 so would that make Triumph the second best three man group ever?.........from Canada
God please bless the people of Brazil who never fail to love their band. They did the same for Queen concerts. What a wonderful, beautiful way to show and give love. Brazil goes to a concert and act like it's their job, like their life depended on it!!! I love you back Brazil!!!
Essa noite deve ter sido incrível, ver milhares de pessoas cantando uma música instrumental faz eu perceber o quanto Rush é incrível, descanse em paz professor Neil Peart...
Incredible response.. the audience totally in tune with the vibe. It's magic in a sense. I bet the band loved the Brazilian audiences. The Stones get the same
I used to watch this every once in awhile, because it always gives me goose bumps.
Rush is the most unique band I've ever listened to!
These fans are insane. They even sing along to an instrumental.
Me da escalofrios de la emocion, el publico Brasilero se entrega a Rush como a ninguna otra banda del mundo, son un ejemplo de que el Rock Progresivo en Sudamerica es un estilo de vida.
Rest easy brother.
seen moving pictures , paramount studios in Seattle.
I was at the last concert played in the Omni- Page/Plant,March 3,1995,twelve rows from the stage. Thanks 96 Rock for the tickets!!!
I WAS THERE ALSO, AT THE OLD OMNI IN ATLANTA! I sat right next to stage, where the guys came onstage from the right side! We yelled at them as they passed by, & Alex turned his guitar & reflected a spotlight at us! It was AWESOME! O.M.G.!!! 💪🏼😎👍🏼
Salute to u
The best drummer in the world. Period.
Never have I seen a fan base of this magnitude all bounce and go nuts at the same time in sync. Dead fans are hard core but this rio concert blows everything out of the water.
Damn... perfect band, perfect fans 👍👍
Best crowd ever!
My God. The humanity. What a celebration! The crowd is nuts. Thanks Neil. Thank you Rush!!!
Can you imagine a Crowd reaction exact like this, but adding 20 Thousand people more? It happened in São Paulo, i was there! Jumping and singing every note from YYZ!
At 0:47 my phone started bouncing in my hands! My late dad was at this concert and I heard about for many years!
RIP Dad and RIP neil
RIP
I can happily say I was there, in the middle of the crowd. And now I wish this stands as a homage to Neil (and the rest of the Band). People there were not just “singing” YYZ, but exploding in ecstasy as this tune represents much of what Rush stands for Rock and Roll (and for ex-musicians-wannabe like myself).
This images speak for themselves as an everlasting homage.
RIP my childhood idol. You were one those very few to transcend music itself and to become a living mythological god. You were sort of a silent sheperd for me.
Thank you very much indeed. Love from Brazil.
Maybe their best performance of YYZ in the 21st century....unreal.
Latin Americans are the BEST rock audiences! PERIOD!
I don't think Rush ever experienced a crowd like that 💖🇧🇷👍 and they played much better than usual for them!
This has got to be the best audience ever! they are singing the music!!!!!
sad that they only got to get down there once in their careers. better late than never. craziest crowd i've ever seen.
They've been there more than once
And a sing along to boot
time machine tour, 2010. i was there with my wife!
I’ve been to 2 of their concerts in Brazil, they came back in 2010, though I really wish they’d come for the R40 tour :/
didn't realize they made it back, my bad :)
Singing to an instrumental? Awesome. I’ve never heard anyone say anything negative about Rush. They’re just fucking awesome.
This was the last concert of the Vapor Trails Tour. First time ever in South America and the concerts were in Porto Alegre, São Paulo and Rio.
I was in Porto Alegre and there were people from Chile and Argentina as far as I know.
About the concerts in Brazil, read what Lifeson and Lee told later:
“It’s surprising how in tune they are with everything, all forms of music.
