I am hoping they, the BBC and EBU commission a "Those We Have Lost in the Past Year" segment like they do in the Oscars etc. Many songwriters, performers, conductors, hosts and commentators are sadly passing away. Their works and dedication to this wonderful event should be honoured in life and in passing. RIP Olivia, total legend!

They`ve done that with some of the winners who passed but if they did it for everyone the contest would have to go on for even longer than it already does and I think it`s probably reached the upper limits of what people are capable of sitting through already. Maybe as an extra segment on one of the nights between the two Semi`s, perhaps.

I'm so sad Olivia passed. She's always been such a beautiful, genuine, loving, talented, humble and generous soul. She left us far too soon - and yet she's a miracle for surviving her long fight with cancer.
Olivia is an inspiration, not just for her talent and success, but for how she held herself with dignity and grace through tremendous loss. She showed us how to be courageous, loving and joyous in the midst of the hardest trials.

I was 7 years old when Olivia represented the UK with this song. I still have the 7 inch vinyl stashed away up in the attic. What a beautiful soul and a beautiful Lady. Sadly missed by many. ❤
She was one of the very few artists in Eurovision to actually make it big after the show. And I did Grease in 7th grade. This loss hurts for me as both a theatre geek and Eurovision geek. I send my heart to all her loved ones
It might be unfitting to ask, but I wonder if we have any hopes of getting the rest of the old entries on the Eurovision CZcams channel. There’s probably issues with licencing and all that, but regardless, I think many of us are hoping for more old entries.
With that said, let’s not forget the original reason why this video was posted. Goodbye, Olivia! We’re going to miss you.
We all do but I think it's up to the broadcasters; every contest pre-2004 is owned by the respective host broadcasters, all subsequent contests are EBU's. Some broadcasters, AFAIK, do make replays of their contests available on their own site, one example being NRK/Norway (1987, 1996, 2010).
Anyhow, may Olivia's music live on. Rest in peace, queen.

If you key in the Eurovision song contest in the search bar, the different years and decades for the contest should be displayed.
Some of the older ones were the best - from the 60s, 70s, and 80s - the best music decades ever. Particularly the 70s (so many evolving artistes, bands, and brilliant songwriters then).

Even more impressive her father was part of British intelligence that worked on the enigma machine at Bletchley park in WW2

Well, as an Spaniard, I didnt know that she was so famous. The reality is that she was more in USA than in Europe or other countries. Grease film helped her but its true her great Career did in USA.

She had already been living in Australia for 20 years in 1974, since the age of 6, when she competed for her birth nation Great Britain at the age of 26. It was a good move to kick start her career, when it wasn't yet possible to participate for Australia. She may have helped in the long run of Australia being accepted into Eurovision. 💕🎶👍

I was just 10 years old when dear Olivia entered the Eurovision Song Contest withkng Live Love
“Long Live Love” (1974), authored by Valerie Murtagh, was Olivia Newton-John’s (ONJ) entry for the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest, representing Britain. It was also her least-favorite piece. She had to sing it after performing six different airs on TV, and the British audience had to vote for what they considered to be the best for the actual contest. ONJ didn’t win that night.
Talking about her distaste for “Long Live Love”, ONJ explained : “That was really hard for me because I wanted another song to win, cause you know, when you do Eurovision, you sing six or eight songs. Once a week you sing on TV, and it was on [Cliff Richard’s] show, and people would write in and vote for the one they wanted […]. And I knew it would be it. I wanted this other song called ‘Angel Eyes’ to win, that I loved, it was such a beautiful song […]. So then I had to go sing it for the country, not liking it, which wasn’t easy.”
Sweden won the contest for the first time with the entry “Waterloo” by ABBA. The number became a huge international hit and was the starting point of the band’s legendary career❕💛🇸🇪💙
