    I'm very anxious to get home to Olongapo City & live out my life there after I have everything I'm selling all sold where I live at in the very worst Metropolitian area that I have ever lived & worked in-The Loser City Tucson, Arizona Metropolitian area & be where my heart is & always will be. I was stationed at SRF Subic Bay from 11/20/1978 to 3/30/1981 when I was in the Navy. My late wife of 31 years & I met there on 1/16/1975 & we didn't get married till 4/5/1979 at City Hall by Judge Jose L. Uy. My late wife passed away on 3/6/2010 in Loser City Tucson. The very best places I have ever lived & worked in in my working life are The Subic Bay Area & the San Diego, California Metropolitian area.

    I've been to Subic Bay. I hope no one goes there expecting it to be like the Disneyland that is portrayed in this PROMOTIONAL video. I want to see their faces when they leave the bus station looking for a taxi as I did.

    • @timsretirementjourney8323
      @timsretirementjourney8323 Před 4 lety

      I've got to agree. The taxi's and means of transportation to leave the bus station are few and far between and those that are calling themselves taxi's are way over priced and pushy compared to any place else in the Philippines.
      We were there for 3 days in May 2019 and we saw very little of what is shown in this video. Doing it all over I wouldn't go without some means of transportation. We did hire a driver to take us to Zoobic but the only water we saw was in our room and at the pool. (Wouldn't you think a hotel called the Waterfront Resort and Hotel would be on a beach)?

    Traffic discipline zone means: If you step out of line, any little mistake, especially a foreigner and you will get a "on the spot" fine. Know what I mean..wink..wink. (obviously no receipt).

      Unfortunately brother a lot has changed from the Subic Bay that we knew when the U.S. Naval Base was there. I was stationed there in 1984, 1985 West Pac aboard the USS Cleveland. And was there from 1986-1989 with the Marine Barracks at Cubi Point. And lived there from 2013-2014 prior to moving to Davao City. Subic Bay is still very pretty. ---- Semper Fi!!!!

    A great destination? No public-access beaches. Beaches now controlled by hotels or are fee-required. Grande Island beach has been covered with concrete blocks. Coral reefs in the bay have been destroyed by dynamite and cyanide fishing. SBMA does not seem to provide even basic landscaping care. Roads are a mess. Apparently no building or architectural standards. Horse stables are collapsing. Cubi airstrip and hospital appear deserted. Owner of one of Subic's largest businesses murdered at the Yacht Club (less than 6 months ago.) Housing areas are unkept and lack public space maintenance. The Philippines should be absolutely ashamed of what they've allowed Subic to become. When it was a U.S. Base, Subic was essentially a Club Med resort. Now, a tourist destination? Definitely not.
