  • Has a 60hp 450F ever been so easy to ride? Such smooth and long pulling power that makes this bike so fun to ride! I was hoping to feel more compliance and a plusher ride with the updated chassis but like all brand new KTM450SXF"s this bike feels stiff and harsh for the first few hours. I only got to about 1.1 hours ride time today so the chassis and suspension should feel better with a little more ride time. I used the new Connectivity Unit Offroad (CUO) and put an aggressive map with max throttle response and minimum engine braking into Map 1 position (white map). I could notice a less engine braking when closing the throttle at high ending RPM in 2nd and 3rd gears. Not a huge difference but noticeable when switching between the minimum engine braking map (white) and Green map (green map is the stock aggressive map).
    This 23/24/24.5 KTM chassis is a great balance of cornering and stability at speed. Looking forward to doing back to back rides comparing this updated 24.5 chassis to a stock 23 KTM 450SXF. I will also do some videos reviewing the CUO and different engine maps (like dialing the 450 back to a 350).

      Some riders prefer the previous chassis over the latest stiffer (from 22.5 FE and 23 SXF's). If you have the previous generation GG MC450FE dialed that is a very good bike. I still have a 21 KTM 350 Kailub Russell....I still like that chassis and engine!

      I really want to ride a new '24 YZ450FX!!!! I think a slightly dialed back power/suspension wise YZ450F with a kickstand and wide ratio gearbox might be almost perfect! I am hoping to cross paths with a 24 YZ450FX this spring

      I rode my buddy's 24 Husky FC350 today back to back with my 450FE. The hoping for a bigger chassis feel difference with the updated chassis. Power wise the '24 350FC/SXF/XCF engine is about perfect. 350's are still my favorite combination of Power/Weight/Handling in a 4-stroke dirt bike. I'll post the 450FE and FC350 back to back ride video soon.

    • @mxengineer1
      @mxengineer1  Před 3 měsíci +2

      The 23/24 YZ450 is such a responsive bike in terms of throttle inputs and chassis. Makes me wonder how good the 24 YZ450FX might be with softer engine mapping and suspension setting and the wide ratio gearbox and a kickstand!

    • @ridendrive
      @ridendrive Před 3 měsíci

      @@mxengineer1 I think it would be the ticket. I have a YZ250FX and I can do just about any type of riding on it with just a few clicks one way or the other on suspension and the ride ability is amazing. That said if you are dedicated to MX tracks, of course I still think the MX model is great, but for an all rounder the 450FX is probably an amazing machine. While KTM has managed awesome power and engines, the chassis and suspension just doesn’t fit the average person like the traditional fork and set up you get on other brands.

    I haven't seen any reviews of the 2024.5 ktm 250 yet. Does ktm have the least the amount of engine braking and longest linear power delivery? my 2017 yz250f seems overly sensitive, snappy in the corners and shifting non stop.

    • @mxengineer1
      @mxengineer1  Před 3 měsíci +1

      With the new CUO engine braking can be dialed back to a lower level but not sure I would call it the least amount of engine braking compared to other 450F's. The 23/24 KTM 450SXF engine has such a long and broad and linear powerband and so easy to control. The Yamaha tends to be very barky and responsive (the 23/24 YZ450F is 2-stroke like responsive which can be a handful at times).

    Hey mx. Do you think i can start on a 450 like I'm a semi begginer. ik everything but im looking at a 2024 450 sxf. And wondered if i put the connectivity unit and put all the power options to 0. What do you think?? Could you make a video on the throttle response and power etc etc. i really need your help with this one.

    • @mxengineer1
      @mxengineer1  Před 2 měsíci

      The Austrian 450's (KTM/Husky/Gas Gas) are the the most rider friendly 450F's. Very smooth and linear power that simply builds with engine RPM. I've used the CUO on my 24.5 KTM 450 Factory Edition to dial back the power and throttle response to make it even easier to ride. I would not call a 450SXF a "beginner" bike however KTM has made the power very rider friendly. KTM and Husky and Gas Gas have $2000 rebates on the '24 450 moto bikes. KTM and Husky also have $1000 rebates on the 24 450XCW and FE450 - both of those bikes have the new chassis and even less power than the 24 450SXF - rider friendly 450F's. I will make some videos of my 450FE and CUO mapping soon. I recently rode the all new 2024 Beta RX450. In the rain mode with TC the Beta feels like a 350F. I think the Beta RX450 might be the most Vet rider friendly (power/suspension setting) 450F moto bike... czcams.com/video/80haO8wLqnA/video.html

      @@mxengineer1 the 450 sxf is my only choice currently no one has other mx 4 strokes bikes and I don't want a 2 stroke. Do you think I could just lower the throttle response to 0. And the TC to it's full and everything to make it less. Bc the 450 sxf is my last choice currently and ik what to do everything on the bike top to bottom movement on it etc etc.

    • @mxengineer1
      @mxengineer1  Před 2 měsíci

      @@JOEMAMA.95 I use the CUO to make the power smoother. Wet/Gravel Power Map is the smoothest and lowest power setting...then turn engine response to minimum, traction control to maximum, and I prefer engine braking minimum and that setting (with TC engaged) is the most dialed back for the engine. Use the stock throttle cam and keep the screened air cleaner cage and non vented air box. I run the spark arrester in my Akrapovic too. That will make the 450SXF as mild as 60 hp can be!

    • @mxengineer1
      @mxengineer1  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Still have my '23 Husky TX300 with WP Pro Components suspension and the latest EFI mapping. No big changes for 24 model 300XC/TX300's other than the spring forks (which I have) so the TX300 is sticking around. My son has a stock 23 450SXF which I got the CUO unit for so that will be a fun back to back bike to see if we can feel the frame updates on the 24.5 450FE. I heard there are now $2000 rebates to the 24 450SXF's which makes them more attractive. My buddy just picked up his 24 Beta RX450 so that will get thrown into the mix soon!

I noticed when unlocking my bike with the XC2 tool the Connectivity Unit was noted at CCU ABT 1.0 and "no flash configurations found" so no updates were available at the time (about 1.5 weeks ago).
