      Frank is more a of a man than his father was. Grandpa Murphy's legacy to the world was a bunch of casets that describes his poop an an Ashtray from Florida. Frank's (not sure if he was fighting at Inchon, or Busan, but preventing the scum that is the Kims from conquering Korea. Frank is such a fucking bad ass it was probably Inchon (MacArthur's landing, that fucking took balls like Duke Nuken Balls of steel, or Probably Busan, the LAST hold out for the South). Frank thought that when he heard his father’s last words, he thought he said box 16, and after 2 months he finds out that he really said it’s Bach’s 16, and played the song in his grave. that is the saddest moment that I ever seen in a show like that, what a great show and it sad that it ran for 5 seasons. Rich Woodward Piano can you give me tips for trills I usually don't play them when sight reading because it confuses my brain when I need to do it in the left hand. Right hand turns thirlls etc I can play but left hand sucks. I know a few trills now I have a Bach cheat sheet. When I write music I fully write trills in 32ths. I suck at mordents to be honest . I use a lot of intuition for trills most of the time is that ok ? I mean it's very subjective anyways. But it sucks for me when I sight read and stop because of a trill or 32th notes. Also I had a problem today with triplets I was playing triplets and I didn't know how to play 16ths afterwards because it's 4 16ths for 1 4th but 3 triplets . Triplets logically must be faster but still I'm confused with triplets especially in WTC.

    Hi Paul, in two weeks i will have my DipABRSM starting with this Prelude and Fugue! Any suggestion? (Ps: Just let me say to you that I have a Feurich at home and it sounds great, even if it is the 122 upright and not the wonderful grand piano you have)

    • @PaulBartonPiano
      @PaulBartonPiano  Před 7 lety +15

      Hi Luca -- wishing you luck and success with your DipABRSM. I have the FEURICH 122 too, it's a great piano and in all the years I've practiced on it, amazingly, it’s still perfectly in tune, and never given me a single problem with the action.
      Any suggestion? -- I think the simple secret to all this is just to love and keep loving piano music and always feel happy playing it, even when it's hard work. Keep this feeling inside you even during examinations and concerts. It’s true, the piano is a fascinating box of beautifully crafted moving wooden parts, but the reason we play it is not really because we want to play piano for its own sake, but because we love piano music and badly want to play it ourselves, more than to do anything else with our time.
      Perhaps think of the examination as an opportunity to play the Bach in a way that means the most to you, in your own individual way, and, at the same time, convey the enjoyment you feel recreating his music to the other person next to you in the room, who, although in the role of examiner, is really just another music-lover like you.
      If you walk into the room, play and leave with this feeling inside you, you will have given of your best.

    Quite an acceptable rendition, though I could have both movements taken back a notch in the tempo.
    One thing in the Prelude that bothers me - in many spots the left hand comes in a fraction before the right hand, more suitable for nineteenth century romantic music, and becoming a bit unstylish nowadays in any event.
    The trills are beautifully handled. Interestingly, at the very end of the Prelude, the penultimate bar is given a Neapolitan cadence. I don't know whether any of Bach's manuscripts had an A Flat at that point. And I missed the trill on the last note of the Prelude.
    Nevertheless, a very fine rendition, showing more understanding of this Prelude and Fugue than many a professional pianist. I have found it extremely difficult to locate on CZcams a satisfactory conception of these two movements, and except for Clara Haskil, not amongst the greats who have approached them.
