Any video with Miss Sharon Jones is a great video! Kudos Scott ✌🏻
You know it, Chance!! Thank you for watching!!!
good video, scott,!!
Thanks, Dave!!!
@@djvinylvertigo i barely have any R&B/soul albums but i do have more R&B 45 records.
Great to discover a channel that focuses on Soul/R&B artists rather than the usual narrow and very predictable "go to" artists/albums.
Thank you!!
Thanks for doing the #soultag love watching these videos and hearing all this great music. Thanks again keep spinning
I forgot about adding Maxell but you're right about the Marvin Gaye similarity . I have a couple of his CDs but the killer is Maxwell's Urban Hang Suite . I play it a lot ( since 1993 ish ) so it would be silly for me not to have in my list somewhere . Great idea ,l great 30 minutes , collection and commentary . Thank you !
Great video brother! Nice records. I just posted mine.
Thanks, man! I will definitely check it out!!!
I got my video up.
Hi Scott. Loved this! So many wonderful records. Nice to see Mica Paris being shown. She has a truly beautiful voice. I was watching the Amazing Grace documentary over the holiday period. Aretha’s voice was just astonishing. And that’s my favourite Sharon Jones album. I saw her play a couple of times. She was just a bundle of energy on stage, like a female James Brown. Wonderful. Cheers. John
Thank you much, John!! Mica Paris was my obsession in the 80's!! In America, she was a one hit wonder, which drove me crazy!! Thanks for watching!!
I knew you were gonna pull Aretha's gospel album ! So so good 😆 And I didn't know she was on that Eurythmics LP.. I have it, and I will listen tomorrow.
Rock on!
@@djvinylvertigo Yesssssir ! 🫡
i recall mica paris in 1989 but have no idea what she's doing now. i payed the most attention to "if i love u 2night" because prince wrote it but liked her AND her duet partner, WD. curtis is of course undervalued by the world. stevie wonder was supposed to release 3 albums in one year after his mother died and that's the last i heard of him releasing new music. i enjoyed his xmas duet with cher but c'mon already with new music, stevie. i left florida before he was refusing to play there but i'd protest him not releasing new music if i thought it's change things. your channel is wonderful.
Awesome. Great video. Fantastic idea. I'm going to try my best to do your soul tag list.😎 I hope I have enough soul 🙏🏼. Great albums. I love Innervisions. It's definitely my favorite Stevie Wonder album.
Thank you! My first curated tag!! Thans for watching!!
You got me, A majority of your picks were female. I'm subscribing. My favorite genre is Blues from Ma Rainey right on up. I went to discogs and ordered "Lady Sings The Blues" per your recomend. I wish they would have done a full length recording of 10 or so of the best songs. The short clips are fine for the movie which I might watch tonight. You should watch the movie "Bessie" with Queen Latifah who did a fantastic job.
Amazing tag!! I will do mine as soon as possible. I really loved the records you brought
Looking forward to your video!! Thanks!!!
Very good! Sadly, I do not think I have enough soul music to make this work. I enjoyed the video.
You should still try. Even CDs. Thanks!!
Some great choices! Thanks for doing this. It took me a few days of hard thinking, but I've done a response as well, cheers!
Thank youcso much!! I am honored!!
Great set of questions. Will certainly try to jump on this :)
Please do! I just subbed to your channel!!
I’m so glad you did this soul tag!! I will be posting mine soon! Thank you for this! I still consider myself a newbie to collecting, but I love soul/funk/r&b/ and some hip hop. My channel is just getting started. Sending good vibes from Dallas, TX!
Can't wait to see your video!! Thank you!!!
Hi DJ I just published my soul tag. I left the link in your comments...hope you dig it and appreciate you starting it.
I will check it out!! Thank sp much!!!
Scott love your records money permitting I may get Sade and the Soul Slabs . I did your Tag I hope it's ok and I hope I didn't mess it up anyway it's up there. Take care my friend
Thanks for doing it! I am honored. It is my 1st tag!!!
All great choices, Scott! If you weren't aware the first two Candi Staton albums (I'm Just A Prisoner and Stand By Your Man) were released last years on Kent Records. I'm pretty sure you can pick them up in the US, and they're both fantastic southern soul albums. Also there was a Rhino boxset of the first 4 solo Curtis Mayfield albums, but it's crazy none of The Impressions albums aren't in print - especially This Is My Country and Young Mods
Thanks for the info!!!!
Lovell Andrew launched this a couple years ago - and he is Black! I took his tag on so I must do your tag too, Scott! That Aretha album “Amazing Grace” is one I’ll hunt down. Cool that you played “The Bitter End”! This will be a challenge for me but I’ll give it the ol’ college try. John and Nadine sure know their stuff! 🔥😎
Vary cool, Rachel!! By the way, I am actually Japanese!!!🤣🤣
Hi Scott !! Thanks for the education and I’ll certainly be seeking out that video of you performing in the Village .. great video !
Yes, scroll down the list of my videos. It is entitled "Absolute Zero". It starts with an instrumental while I am off stage. Then the magic happens!! Thanks for watching!!
Great soul tag. I just posted a tag response. Thanks for preparing one this year. You picked some great ones. I will have to check out Mica Paris as I am really not familiar with her work. Candi Staton is a great choice and I probably should have picked up that RSD release. Maxwell is another new one for me. Curtis is such a great recording artist as well as such a wonderful songwriter as one of my favorites in Jerry Butler recorded many of his songs. I would have loved to have seen Sharon Jones live. It is hard to find that Donny Hathaway album in good shape. Will have to look for the reissue. The Soul Slab records are so great. Fantastic job.
Thank you so much!! I look forward to viewing your video!!!
really nice selections! really cool idea! I love Beres Hammond!
Thank you much!!
Love your picks, people don’t talk enough about Candi Staton these days. Also, I need to check out Mica Paris, I never heard of her before you mentioned her.
It's nice to see some different stuff. My favorite category of music is female vocals no matter the genre. You showed two right off that I was not familiar with - Mica Paris and Candi Staton.
Love Alton Ellis as well. He fits right into the reggae soul category. Great vinyl tag! Keep up the good work!👍
Thanks! The tag questions are listed there if you want to do the tag challlenge!!!
Great idea, Scott! 🥰🙏
Thank you Scott, well done
Thanks for watching!!
Nice one, Scott! I don't think I could answer half these questions but will rummage my shelves. Love that Curtis Mayfield album, which I have on the original UK Buddah release.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I love that you are doing a soul thread ! Such a deep well of artists/ bands ! I'll see if I can get around to this thread. BTW.. We really enjoyed Florida ! We were over in Miami and took the Brightline up to West Palm.😊
Cool!! Glad that you had fun in Florida!! Thanks!! Hope that you can do the tag!!
@@djvinylvertigo Hope so.. Time is tight.. Hey, that's a Booker T Jones tune ! Haha☺️

Nadine's amazing channel!!
Hello there I'm here via rachel/Rachel's ghost channel who's response to this I watched a short time ago.
I have soul, northern soul and Motown LPs and 7" singles and I reckon I could cobble together a response video.
I do have a question though and please excuse my ignorance....I'm no expert, what is "blue eyed soul"??? You mentioned it in one of your questions 🤔
Excellent tag thread sir 👍👍👍
It is a term coined in the 60's used to describe mostly Caucasian artists who have the ability to sound like a soul artist from the African diaspora. It used to be rare, but today is more common due to less racial segregation in music today. Thank you!
@@djvinylvertigo
Thanks for replying,I'm sure I could answer that question with some degree of confidence 👍
Wonderful!!!
He has a Box Set. I have it. It's called People Get Ready. CD Box Set
Thank you. Is there a vinyl box set? There needs to be one.
Just discovered your channel after watching Rachel’s Ghost. I’m subbed up and thinking about giving this one a go. It might be a bit of a challenge but I think I might be able to pull it off.
I just subbed to your channel. Thanks!
@@djvinylvertigo got my video posted yesterday. Thanks for starting the tag. I had fun going through my soul albums 😊
Hi Scott, greetings from Sydney Australia. I heard about this Soul Tag a couple of weeks back and I've only just found your channel tonight. I'm now a new subscriber😊. I also have a channel and I want to have a go at this tag too. This is a very cool tag thread. 👍 Some really interesting selections with a couple of new names (to me) which I might investigate. Your questions have me thinking already. I'll leave a link below once I've done my version.Cheers 😊
Hey, that's wonderful!! Glad that you've found my channel and subbed!! I just subbed yours, as well! Have fun doing the tag!! Can't wait to view it!!! Thank you!
@@djvinylvertigothanks Scott. You nudged me closer to 200 subs.😊😊 I wouldn't have dreamt that was possible. Cheers mate 😊😊👍👍
@@peterx1957 I actually don't see your sub. Perhaps you could try to sub to my channel again. Thanks!!
@@djvinylvertigo that's strange as I just checked it and it shows me as subscribed. Probably as Peterx1957.
@@peterx1957 Okay. Thanks for checking!!
Definitely a boxset for Curtis Mayfield, all the songs he wrote with The Impressions, for Stax artists, and his own solo work!
Absolutely!! Hey, I love you Guncles!!! Even Robert!!🤣
Just discovered your channel and am loving the content! A question i always ask CZcamsrs is what are your qualifications for the jacket and wax in order to put them in your collection? Do they have to be a minimum for VG+? Are you ok with splits or creases? Some surface noise ok? Do you prefer OG reissue? Thank you for all the new content!
Mostly VG+; jackets not always important. Usually can find a replacement. I am solely about the music. I am not analogue type of collector. Thanks!
Hi Scott, I've just posted my Soul Tag 24 video. Let me know what you think. Cheers
I will check it out!! Thanks!!!
