    So glad I’m not the only one who came here to ask how the heck you’re supposed to open the thing!! WHY IS IT LIKE THIS??

    I have to add that I will try other brands until this is improved.

    Oh my gosh, does no one in packaging design actually cook? Impossible to get the top off to remove paper or scoop by the teaspoonful... will try the hairdryer trick below. Love the name and expiration date on top, but sheesh!

    Obviously no one tested. Hair dryer trick worked.

    lol i love how this otherwise pointless video has made us come together to figure out how to open the damn top!

    I used a hair dryer to heat the cap, then I used a strap wrench to give me leverage to twist the cap off without damaging it.

    I used an oversized pair of plyers. Did not have to soak the bottle first. Top might look nice, but most people probably cannot get the lid off to remove the paper.

    I had to use channel locks to get the lid off. If I buy McCormicks again (up in the air) I’ll use hair dryer. Thanks for the tip.

    I’ll add what I did. Put a wet paper towel in the microwave for 20 seconds. Wrapped that around the lid and left it for about one minute. Lid easily twisted off after that.

      It’s bad when you have to go to CZcams to figure out how to remove the lid to get the paper off. That’s why I’m here too. Trying to get to my nutmeg to make eggnog. lol

      So I saw another video where they suggest using a hairdryer and it’ll eventually unscrew so you can take the paper off. I didn’t go that route, but I just wrapped my index finger and thumb around the lid so it warmed up a bit. Took about a minute and it unscrewed easily.

      Does anyone have a video on getting the red and black snap tight lid off so I can remove that white paper tab seal? Sheeees

    • @carogibson7109
      @carogibson7109 Před 6 měsíci +1

      Ok I got it opened. Sit down. Wrap your index fingure and thumb around lid and the other hand hold the base and then bring in towards your chest and that works.

      OMG! The hairdryer trick works! I have had a McCormick small white pepper for months. No one in my family could open the bottle. I even called the McCormick customer service line. The representative claimed that the bottle was not hard to open. I just don’t understand the reason the top was approved. Thanks for the the hairdryer tip!

    Run it under hot water for 10 seconds. Still stiff but it works. It is well sealed so you don't have to worry about the contents getting wet.

    Don't have a hair dryer so I held the bottle over meat I was browning lmao gross but it worked after a few seconds!

  • @honoraoife
    @honoraoife Před měsícem

    To open these dumb lids, set your hair dryer on high heat, set the fan speed if you have high/low to highest setting. Then open the lid and heat around the rim and the top keep around 6" and only for 20 seconds. The lid will twist off and then you can pull the seal out. Yes, dumb design and if my stored hadn't dropped tones and put these up; I would never had bought it in the first place.🙃😛🤑

    Can you say Badia Spices? Good brand that you can open.

  • @AnadosDefered
    @AnadosDefered Před měsícem

    I love McCormick spices, especially their gourmet line.
    I purchased the Cream of Tartar. 1.5 ounce. Not gourmet but I wanted to try it for home made pizza. Came in this jar.
    I Could not open it. I was unwilling to use heat since I do not know what effect heat has on the ingredient. I was unwilling to break an implement to open the jar. Poked holes through the paper since the seal could not be removed.
    That said...
    Obviously it's time to say goodbye to McCormick spices in these jars for two reasons.
    One. If you look up this issue on Google or CZcams you will find it is WIDESPREAD across MULTIPLE seasonings - ANYTHING that uses this "new" AKA FLAWED seal top.
    People have broken forks, knives & other tools to get this cap off.
    Second reason - more to the point - a baker MEASURES the amount of an ingredient like Cream of Tartar. Does not just shake it out like an idiot.
    I will NOT buy this jar type from McCormick again. I suggest the word be spread by review online on whatever people buy to FORCE McCormick to recall this abomination. Hopefully those who approved this change are fired.
