@clarda1 if ur hearing whining noises in low range then u need to check the oil levels in ur transfer case, i've been thru 4x4's of all makes and only heard that noise when oil levels ran low or the pilot bearings were about to go
@Rhett150 The last thing these guys worry about is the paint job. Getting the truck through all this and back home in one piece with everyone safe is priority number one.
@98MAzdaMilleniaS It wasn't being pulled... Would you want to swim to the car in order to hook the car in case it got stuck? Wouldn't it be better to have the car already hooked?
@flenny that is not what i meant. If this was in low range you would be able to hear some sort of engine noise or w/e else you want to call it. This video is fake, the cable never loses tension, and when it does you can see that it is pulling the vehicle. The vehicle is un-cabled after being brought onto land, only then you can hear the engine because that is the only point in which it is moving under its own power
@luckykkzz there is absolutely no engine noise or wheel slippage, i honestly find that hard to believe, it even looks as if its just floating over the ice
@SuperRider2011 Yes, actually he did it. The rope was there just in case he needed a tug. Imaging not having the rope there and the truck would get stuck out in the middle of the river. I don't think that swimming out to it with the rope would seem like a good idea in comparison.
the thing with this you have to worry about is starter motor and elecvtrics and such, the solanoid in the starter most likely is full of water now, and it will freeze up giving you that danger of not being able to start your engine. give a few good wacks with a hammer, should free up the stater motor and solanoid.
@rafarocket I don't think you would swim in that ice water to hook the car up, if it got stuck... Better be on the safe side and have a line om it from the other side.
Maybe because they didn't want to swim across. Also, somebody had to drive that thing and the cable was a precaution to make sure the truck didn't lose momentum.
These guys are experts, with expertly made trucks, with more experience than most, and live in Iceland, and are Vikings, which are OP as fuck, and you assume they get stuck and freeze
In Iceland all forms of offroading is considered joing for jeep safari, has nothing to do with the brands of trucks.. this is because the first 4X4's in Iceland were jeeps.
@Mp57navy that is false. Low range would make a whining noise from the low gearing and if he is going that fast in low range then it would definitely be audible
I dont know where you live but here in the land of mall crawlers (Southern California) you will find way more jeeps of all types in the parking lot mall crawling on Black diamond black tops to TJ max. BTW Land Cruisers had F/R lockers WAAAAAYYYYYY before jeep, jeeps are for people that want to look the part you know what I mean right all bark and no bite right is'nt that the Jeepers motto?
These guys are not going through mud or rocks they're going through ice that would kill them quicker than shit you just dont take any risk in this situation.
@PROCOTRDOCTOR123 HAHAHAHA NOW YOU MADE ME LAUGH YES YOU ARE RIGHT THAT IS WHY THE LANDCRUISER IN PARIS DAKAR RALLY HAD ONLY SUSPENSION MODIFICATION EVERYTHING ELSE WAS STOCK BECAUSE PARIS DAKAR IS LIKE GOING TO THE MALL
+audex no doubt, but considering the operating temp of a car engine would be significantly warmer then this water, would that not cause exterior metals/components to shrink rapidly and potentially warp and crack?
+audex ahhhh, i see. thanks mate. i used to get nervous driving my fourby in deep water because i was always told it could damage a hot engine and warp hot disc brake rotors.
These got to be the bet vehicles in the world. Going that deep even with assistance and in cold climate like this is even more challenging.
Я жил в Исландии с 1997-2002. Однажды участвовал в таком триале. Там был даже ГАЗ-69 , специально подготовленный.
wow is all i can say you guys build some really clean toys!!!
Impressive Land Cruiser, even with assistance!
and it's still driving, damn, i want one of those. that's a bad ass truck
Landcruiser beast. King of the land
landcruiser the king of offroads
This is awesome!
where can you get those tires - luv'em - looks exciting
@clarda1 if ur hearing whining noises in low range then u need to check the oil levels in ur transfer case, i've been thru 4x4's of all makes and only heard that noise when oil levels ran low or the pilot bearings were about to go
Tose Icelandic trucks are always the most impressive!!!
So what PSI do you guys run and what is the size on the tires? I would like to make a trip to Iceland one day.
how long is that line?
Does Arctic Trucks seal the body up (doors) when they build these trucks?
Well done. And pretty brave, considering you didnt even have a Snorkel :)
What kind of truck is that?
that's Amaizing! did you get water in the intake air?....
Fantastic to see, is this at night?
so its getting towed? or driving? cause theres a difference
I am subscriber 277🇨🇦
How much are those tires they have
Crazy....
But where are they going ?
Looks like the winch was doin all the work!
@Rhett150 The last thing these guys worry about is the paint job. Getting the truck through all this and back home in one piece with everyone safe is priority number one.
@clarda1 Low drive, keeping the engine below 2000 turns. You won´t hear wheels slip, if they are submerged in water.
How do they get the line across for the first vehicle?
@Mp57navy The vehicle also slows down during this video when the tension is release from the cable or lessens, he is being pulled.
where is this ? veryvery nice !! :)
so how much of the way did they drag it? all the way is my guess.
I wonder which truck went first through, so it could secure/tow the others
@98MAzdaMilleniaS It wasn't being pulled... Would you want to swim to the car in order to hook the car in case it got stuck? Wouldn't it be better to have the car already hooked?
Dam that looks cold
@clarda1 The line seemed to be in tension the whole time. Based on what I see I'd have to agree. This vehicle was pulled, not driven through.
I hope the door seals are water tight?? Great vid!
@morbidguitar On a boat like everyone else....or on a plane. Yes, they do make planes and boats that go to Iceland. Thanks for your thoughts.
@luckykkzz
That would be a pretty stiff cable if it could stay straight without having any tension on it...
@clarda1 I've been driving enough Arctic trucks modified Land Cruiser Toyota's myself. You don;t hear the engine, unless it has a lot of load.
i've had all land cruisers all my life- but that is hardcore man..
thats frigen awesome
them trucks look so fucking beast with those tyres/flares
@couvidan He wasn't being pulled by the winch. It's better to hook the car before if it gets stuck so deep in water.
Класс 👍
snowrunner new dlc looks great
nice view at first second
Can't argue with fact bro.
I bet the radiator is happy :D
P.S. Do you guys do this for fun or are you like workin out there
90% for fun really, but there are company's and emergency services that have these for work and some fun too
beautifull
amazing they did it without a snorkel
Driving Viking style!
volunteerz ooikmh,ijwdsdsew Kukiiiooiuiiiiiiip
@klavistata It's crossing under its own power, the rope is there just in case.
how is this possible with no snorkel?
@flenny that is not what i meant. If this was in low range you would be able to hear some sort of engine noise or w/e else you want to call it. This video is fake, the cable never loses tension, and when it does you can see that it is pulling the vehicle. The vehicle is un-cabled after being brought onto land, only then you can hear the engine because that is the only point in which it is moving under its own power
Mudding, nordic style.
i was wondering which of those trucks cross the river first ?!?!?!
❤❤❤❤❤
@luckykkzz there is absolutely no engine noise or wheel slippage, i honestly find that hard to believe, it even looks as if its just floating over the ice
Most impressive thing, in my opinion, is the speed of the whinch...........
Hahah. I like how the dude is moving the wheel around like he's steering. So how did the first guy get across?
Ice gets caught up in the wheels so moving them can help to keep them clear.
@SuperRider2011 Yes, actually he did it. The rope was there just in case he needed a tug. Imaging not having the rope there and the truck would get stuck out in the middle of the river. I don't think that swimming out to it with the rope would seem like a good idea in comparison.
nice
but the car is being pulled?
the thing with this you have to worry about is starter motor and elecvtrics and such, the solanoid in the starter most likely is full of water now, and it will freeze up giving you that danger of not being able to start your engine. give a few good wacks with a hammer, should free up the stater motor and solanoid.
magariaaa
@clarda1 Ok understood...and yeah never doubted it was being winched
finally a 720p video.i can see again!
home sweet home
The 80 is great:) But with only 35" on mine, it would be to small for this kind of driving..
It could do with a snorkel though:)
@rafarocket
I don't think you would swim in that ice water to hook the car up, if it got stuck... Better be on the safe side and have a line om it from the other side.
torra strumpor någon?
Remember, there's more to the world then "Southern Cal". Maybe you need to get out more. ;-)
Maybe because they didn't want to swim across. Also, somebody had to drive that thing and the cable was a precaution to make sure the truck didn't lose momentum.
@SenorDennis mostly for fun, family trips and stuff
Not one meter but they are ready if they get stuck
Waw
These guys are experts, with expertly made trucks, with more experience than most, and live in Iceland, and are Vikings, which are OP as fuck, and you assume they get stuck and freeze
i wanna see the first one go across
Need outriggers. And a propeller option.
I don't get it, whats the point? It was winched the entire way
In Iceland all forms of offroading is considered joing for jeep safari, has nothing to do with the brands of trucks.. this is because the first 4X4's in Iceland were jeeps.
@Mp57navy that is false. Low range would make a whining noise from the low gearing and if he is going that fast in low range then it would definitely be audible
wow
Every willy's I've ever seen had open diff's unless it had custom lockers put in afterwards... just so you know ;)
That shit is awesome
Note to future...BUILD A BRIDGE!
I was Impressed, until i saw the winch
@ben01chambers But the female is on the wrong side of the car! so no she is not the driver.
lol ya, but there parked, there not the sucky one on the cable like u commented
it's getting winched? what's the big deal?
@chevy6723 Everybody sees it. The truck made it under its own power, the rope was there just in case.
vá!
Landcruiser trumps Jeep every time.
These guys are not going through mud or rocks they're going through ice that would kill them quicker than shit you just dont take any risk in this situation.
Well that's one way to wash a car
Say bye to your nice paint job scratches all down the side
time for some antifreeze
fuck yeah bub! headed back uptah the smelt'n shack aftah a fuckin beer run up the store.
Couldnt a hot engine hitting ice cold water crack the heads potentially?
+Schmidt Head Productions engines are never over the coolant temperature
+audex no doubt, but considering the operating temp of a car engine would be significantly warmer then this water, would that not cause exterior metals/components to shrink rapidly and potentially warp and crack?
no no, frozen water is at 0º and the engine is about 95º + - for a material like steel that holds up to 1000º+ is not a lot of shrinking.
+audex ahhhh, i see. thanks mate. i used to get nervous driving my fourby in deep water because i was always told it could damage a hot engine and warp hot disc brake rotors.
Don't worry bro, fording is way more dangerous for the electronics than the mechanic components just get a snorkel and have fun
Am i the only one who got here from jeeps??
