That specific pattern of the first big pieces he twisted sideways, those remind me of butterfly wings. If he did a candle like that with a bright orange center and somehow incorporate brown, black, and white in the correct layers, the likeness would be spot-on.

after watching a few of these i feel like candle shops that do this kind of stuff could and should be offering a home made candle class where you pay to use the equipment and materials and let people make the color combos and cuts and see what they can come up with.
I know it looks a lot easier than it probably is but still if all it really requires is clean cuts and a eye for design I'd love to try my hand at it.

Yes!!! I like it much better without them too! The forms & designs are so gorgeous & naturally flowing... don't chachki it up by sticking decorations on it. I love this channel though, & would kill for one of their candles! :-/
