"Ensmoothen". Awesome! May your mastery of the english language bring great joy to all your subscribers. The guitar is lookin' great!
@@TexasToastGuitars I'm totally on board, dude. I'll be henceforth ensmoothening every guitar part I sand! It's too perfect!
Matt looks great! Nice job!
That body looks sick! I'm loving the fabric design too.
I'm looking forward to wrapping this one up, it is going to be dead sexy
glad to see you are building one from scratch like the one you did for me keep on keeping on
Great info... I’m gonna do a fabric finish on my next build. You’ve sold me on this technique so far. I’ll make sure to follow your methods.
There is a whole blog post on the website if you need more details. It is super easy, and fun
Looking really great Matt. My next one will be a round over with a burst.
I always hated the burst that Fender did on the original paisley guitars but the round-over with a little burst looks surprisingly neat.
Black burst will look awesome!
I used to hat the burst that Fender used on paisleys but we started doing little bursts and I'm changing my mind
Beautiful... just like a bought one!
It looks great :D
Thanks Tony, I'm having fun with this but ready to hear it move some air. I have been working on this one in my free time (I don't have much) and it's going slow
Why not use shielding paint in the pickup cavity?
A black Sharpie marker will also work on the pocket that you dyed black with less cleanup.
You got some Fast Action with that Right hand there... been practicing at some other activity?
after the multiple coats and simtec sealer and binding does this need topcoats of nitro or other or is simtec enough and will it polish?
We use PPG color coats and Tamco top coats
We do not use acrylic or nitrocellulose lacquers
I have a guitar body I want to put fabric on it is painted do I need to strip the paint off or is it ok to just glue the fabric over the paint
LOL @ the comment about the "workforce" and the product thickness. Anyone that's worked on a Fender Squire guitar knows that feel - they coat those things in an eighth of an inch of sealer - you can sand for 10 minutes and not worry about seeing wood.
I really think that's why people hate polyester sealer so much. Of course they go on the internet and say the word "poly" and don't get me started on that hahahaha
Hi! Does could someone please share a link to amazon or something to the Simtec? sealer and hardener?
I live in Germany so I have to look for a similar product with those specs.
Thanks!
2 year old video but can I bind it using the acetone method?
Im using water based PU as the sealer because I can't get the simtex or any of that fancy stuff you guys in the us have
I want to see the finished body/guitar!!!!
PLZzzzzzz
Chris is going to paint the burst today so I'll have an update for you soon
so ez simteck sanding sealer is different than a different brand of sanding sealer?
In another question here you said you use PPC color and Tamco top coats. I'm guessing you don't use a color over cloth, right? Is the clear coat applied the same way with a weenie roller (I don't have a spray gun, and can't justify buying one for my first experimental cloth-covered guitar)? Thanks.
@@TexasToastGuitars All right, then. I'll get moving on doing it right. Thank you.
Hey Matt. Can one use a printed poster instead of fabric? I'm thinking of printing something and put on the top the guitar before resin or sealer... or whatever...
Hi Tony, you got me brotherman. Let me know how it works.
We have done polyester sealer of the vinyl plastic stuff they use to wrap cars with. Acetone eats it but the sealer is good to go
Yes, it can be done. Will's EZ Guitar put a video out on that subject last year which is pretty informative. May not be the exact same thing you were thinking, but it's close. czcams.com/video/fMbN2I6guCI/video.html
Yes sorta I've had a couple guitars done in a custom vinyl wrap then polyester over it all. Came out pretty cool 😎
Do you imagine or have you done snake skin with this method ? Have client wants guitar done 80s Hair band style with real PYTHON skin top! Thank uou and enjoy your videos, need to Patreon y'all..
Real snake skin is what client wants. Did you glue and use same technique?
Hey Matt as an aside @6:16 you said sanding sealer is mostly soap. Could you expand on that one ?
Sure man, most sanding sealer is lacquer mixed with zinc stearates which as we all know is a kind of soap. Here is an article that might explain it better then I can...www.popularwoodworking.com/article/is-it-necessary-to-apply-a-lacquer-sanding-sealer-over-a-coat-of-shellac-to-seal-the-wood/
I can't help but notice that you feel comfortable asking me questions but have not subscribed... I don't understand?
I've been subscribed for ages Matt and have been boosting you to my Aussie mates, but so sorry about the question.
@@andrewdarnley4608 I always like to help out with questions. I didn't see our page as one of your subscriptions... maybe I'm doing it wrong?
@Texas Toast Guitars So I checked it out by a simple Google search and here's how you can find out whose subscribed to your channel czcams.com/video/yYqlBlRW2DM/video.html. It's not by checking my personal CZcams page. I've got close to 100 subscriptions and so far, TTG has been one I watched regularly. I'm trying to get an answer from CZcams as to why all my subscriptions don't show on my page. Don't want to get publicly chipped for being a moocher from any other of the channels I've subscribed to.
Using mod podge😂 I’d like to know your experience with mod podge! Surely it’s from many decade# ago? I haven’t even thought of mod podge for probably 35 years! 😆
If I could move my hand that fast, I'd never leave the house....
Yeah you would, drug stores don't deliver hand lotion and Kleenex. Just saying.
We lost pt. 4 somewhere! Sure lookin bitchin though, Matt!!
@@TexasToastGuitars Ahhh crap, I'd seen that one a little while back & didn't put 2 & 2 together :-P Thanks bud!
with all those skulls i predict a dead sounding guitar. ba da dum crash
Who gave a thumbs down???
Matt's got a career hater! It usually happens literally minutes after he posts... lol
@@donvanco3078 It's all good cuz we're in the COOL crowd and he's not mature enough to enjoy life the way we do.
I love my haters, I hope they go on internet forums and tell everyone how much they hate me. Just as long as they spell my name right hahaha
Completely off topic.. That Nashville Daily Driver model over your shoulder is off the hook...
These Americans are pretty resourceful people. Always seem to have the right equipment/approach to fabrication in general. Thanks for the upload, very informative. To be honest I didn't know what was happening until you attached the jig to the guitar body and offered it up to your fancy router setup.
