My apologies since the microphones cut out immediately after the sound check. So we're dealing with dog audio, unfortunately.

"Blud" is a legend... I just remember he had a "face" tattoo vest back in the day... I assume he still does.
Awesome interview. Super interesting guy. I also greatly agree with him on alot of topics. The Sanda point is bang on. The club close down just a few years back, but long ago, there was a small club in the city, that was utilized by teenage boys that came from less fortunate homes, and gave them a safe space to let aggression put and practice sport, learn some respect and discipline. It shined through, because all of them went on to be successful guys with famillys. None of them became fighters, but to this day, just like some spooky legend, there talked about, and there's a unique connection to Sanda through it in some sense. They had an older boxer that was lart of a local club for years, bit didnt box anymore, a cop judoka, and a retired wrestling coach, basically volunteer to spend time with a group of boys through a church program in their neighborhood. The way they sparred was without jackets obviously, and it was fast paced with no ground work. Just boxing, amd wrestling and judo takedowns. Some of the older sambists sparred against these guys years prior ans they said they were killers. These older guys were killers to us when we were young, so I just assume they were borderline super heroes. The way Sanda is trained is ahead of its time. It's good to know ne waza from a takedown, and I'm a bit of a hipacrit for saying it, but you can still train most of the ground game separately. Bjj gyms do need to start doing more takedown, and not at purple bet level, but right from white. If the tatami is adequate, there's no reason not to be doing them. In our old gym, we trained on fairly thin puzzle mats. Scissor takdowns and all. Now that we just have a smaller club in a random basement under an old business, the first thing we did was put down a bit over 2 inches of padding. We still used puzzle mats, laying the cheap on sale anti fatigue ones, underneath a layer of legit gym ones since the gym ones don't tear. The insides are made of the same foam, it's jusy the ones for home use actually have really delicate covers that seem to tear over time. Ya it's not hard to get some mats and do some bjj or wrestling. My cities a pretty small town, but it has a very active martial arts community, with alot of clubs apparantly being fairly private, but mingle with one of the legit clubs when they want to compete. Covid was bad for that. People invested in padding and equipment to make their own gyms, and now alot of them don't want to fork out the money it costs to be in a legit gym. Ofcourse, you can never compare some garage or basement gym to a legit gym. The safety, the knowledge, and the training experience is always worth the money.
Thanks for knowledgeable dump
Phenomenal as usual Ramsey
😮YES! A TWO HOUR VIDEO! I KNOW WHAT IM WATCHING TONIGHT
Nice video Ramsey!
I have a question for your next Q&A with the coach. What are some key things to focus on if your eyesight isn’t the best in Muay Thai/boxing? Types of defence or techniques you should favor, strategies, or just things to look out for in general? I am very nearsighted myself and it gets a bit blurry outside my arms reach and I remember you mentioning that your are partially blind in one of your eyes.
I like the long form interviews. The one with Anthony Gracefo was awesome, and I'm already enjoying listening to Vaughn Anderson. There's not too much content (aside from yours) in the western mainstream covering combat sports coming out of China so this is a treat!
Thanks! I’m glad you enjoyed it! I just wish the microphones didn’t cut out immediately after the sound check.
Hey Ramsey, I have noticed that the amount of fear I have during a spar or fight plays a big role in how good I perform: if I'm too relaxed my defense won't be on point and I easily get caught by surprise, if I'm too scared I start overreacting to feints, completely mess up my distance management, and immediately gas out. But when I hit that sweet spot in the middle where I'm a bit scared but not too much, then I perform at the best of my abilities, do you have any tips on how to regulate better the fear to willingly tap into that range of fear where I can be at my best?
Dear Coach..how serious should i take martial arts belt validation as a hobbyist?
HEY RAMSEY: Hey a new Anime came out called WINDBREAKER and as a former kickboxer and martial artist I have been super impressed with it. Can you analyze fights in episode 6 and 7? Been a while since ive seen your analysis of fictional fight scenes
You kick cardboard boxes?
I miss your old sparring/ demonstration videos in your confessions 😢
Confessions?
@@RamseyDewey yes I still love all your content but that was my fav
@@rizz1212 what do you mean by “your confessions”?
@@RamseyDewey so stop being homophobic
@@rizz1212 I have no idea what you are talking about. You need to explain yourself. Now.
hello coach! I wanted to tell you that I won my first jiujitsu match in an event and a week later I participated in a tournament (also a nogi) and won gold. I am very happy, but I have a question for you I am 17 and my goal is to compete in MMA in the future, in the past I had some very bad experiences in an academy doing striking (it was an extremely violent environment), and although I continue to do my sparring in my current dojo, as a result of my past experiences i struggle for fear of getting knocked out. What can I do about it?
Congratulations on the win! My advice? Don’t spar with people who are trying to knock you out.
@@RamseyDewey thanks coach! 💪
I think the page about Dempsey glance off in your copy is page 73 the chapter is called deflection
Did we talk about that in this podcast?
@@RamseyDewey could you tell me the timestamp you talk about it on this video
I don’t believe we did talk about that in this podcast.
@@RamseyDewey did you find the page ?
Bruh I was literally watching one of your videos when you posted this 💀
So are the lamb chops poisonous? 😐
really very strange camera angles xd
Would you prefer the camera be placed behind my head instead of a front view?
@@RamseyDewey maybe drone shot from top xd
Sorry
Sorry for what?
@@RamseyDewey I sent a reply to your other post, I didn’t mean to say “confessions” I meant to say compressions as in compression shorts. Then I thought you were saying I was “confessing” it was a big misunderstanding cause of my auto correct
All fighting styles are Greek. The best striking is boxing. Individually working in each discipline. Will give you the skill set on how to position yourself and Make you stand in certain ways to avoid takedowns and leg kicks.
The best fighters of all time that will ever be are the Greeks.
Today humanity has not reached a half a percent of what a Greek fighter had achieved in the past.
This guy over here is not even a 10th percent of a Greek fighter
