STOP Using the Microwave | What Cooking in the Microwave Does to Food

- A microwave might be an easy way to make a meal when you don’t feel like cooking, but it’s also an easy way to ruin the food you eat.
In this video, I cover why you should stop microwaving food immediately, and what eating microwaved food does to your body.
Using plastics, especially in the microwave, can cause microplastics to enter into your food. For this reason, I recommend sticking to glass containers in the microwave and covering them with a paper towel.

About garlic, the study shows 45 minutes of oven also does the same thing. And “Allowing crushed garlic to "stand" for 10 min before microwave heating for 60 s prevented the total loss of anticarcinogenic activity”
I haven't used a microwave for about 13 yrs. My husband used to listen to this alternative guy on the radio as a kid and he never used one since! Since a child my husband has been educating people on things that are no good, bpa was another one.

I am keto/veg. Saturated fat, butter (160 C), clarified butter (220 C), red meat, eggs, nuts, vegetables, fruit. No wheat, bread, cereal, pasta, rice. No sugar. No artificial sugar of any kind. Only sweeten with fruits. Cacao Nibs. Only eat once a day. Fast (only water and minerals) 2 or 3 or 5 or 7 or sometimes 14 days. If 3+ days, cell repair will occur. Question: Was the microwaved water and boiled water cooled down first before being poured onto the plants??
Thank you, thank you so much for your brief explanation !!!
Glad you are here with us:) -LGD Team
I grew up with parents born in the 1940’s and 50’s so they wouldn’t go near a microwave, they also didn’t trust blue drinks ☺️.
I have to say the plant experiment was all the convincing I needed. I’ll just buy a thermos and heat my food in the morning.

I haven't been using the microwave since 2009! After reading several studies on this this is not for good health.
Then how do you feel about cooking on induction stove top (portable)? CHeers
Induction heats based on magnetic energy so it's ultimately still heat but not so widespread into area than it would be with gas. Gas actually polluted air as a side effect so induction is better. Imo it technically works a bit worse for food since the heat goes pretty clearly from the bottom+sides not being everywhere around but you learn to use it. It's amazing for stuff like crepes or tortillas that are perfectly symmetrical though. I don't love it for reheating foods since it takes longer to heat the middle of broccoli or meat pieces, needs a good amount of extra water and stirring but it's usable. I got a microwave last year for this reason + reheating coffee and now I'm unsure of that decision 😅
Thanks So much!
You took the words off my finger tips as I was typing, seeing how I'm the slowest typer on a phone ever lol. Great info 👍.
Threw away Microwave when I was 18. Never looked back.
Dr Livingood , Is it bad to warm up my coffee with half n half in a coffee cup
Yes. I warm coffee ☕ and tea 🍵 in a stainless steel pot on the stove. It takes 5 minutes to get it hot, not boiling. So not much more time than a microwave. And better for my health so it's worth the extra few minutes. If I have half and half in the cup then I will stir it occasionally. I've discovered that it tastes so much better than when I used to microwave it. 😋
Thanks! Any thoughts on pressure cooking?
.
that's just heat...
What are the effects of microwaves in comparison to boiling? Stove top? Convection oven?
It seems youve only compared to steaming, which we already know is the healthiest way to cook
i came across a comparison, but it only was for one nutrient, the allicin in garlic. So it might not say much about other nutrients. Nevertheless, for this nutrient they compared 1 minute of stir-frying with 6 minutes of boiling and with 15 minutes of simmering.
the 1 minute stir-frying and/or microwaving was the worse and destroyed all of this compound.
the other two also broke down the allicin, but to a lower degree. At least there was some of the compound left after the cooking.
so microwaving and stir-frying seem to be on par when it comes to destroying (this specific) nutrients, but boiling and simmering seem to be better then microwaving and stir-frying.
I don't touch corn at all. GMO. Round Up (glyphosate poison). If you do pop corn, only use saturated fat such as clarified butter and don't overheat! I do not use microwave for anything! All oils have a smoke point so you can only regulate this with conventional regulated temperatures. A microwave (2.4Ghz) will heat oils on pin points (along the standing wave energy) to sever temperatures that make oils into trans fats instantly. Throw away your microwave now. My mad cooking experiments lead to this horrible realisation.
No stir fry is better then steam
I knew a lot of this about microwaves 16 years ago but was just curious to see if anyone still realized the toxicity of what microwaves do to the nutrition and digestive enzymes in food.
What rubbish. Microwaving food has been shown to retain far more nutrients than boiling and even steaming.
of course. paid for by the food and microwave industry.
Quite right, this guy in the video is cherry picking data to support his own ideology. Then he tries to get you to buy his crappy book at the end. Maybe he should do some real research first.
Me and my husband don't have much of a choice. We are in a rig for weeks at a time so alot of the times we eat at restaurants which most gets old. We want to get another little cook oven which are so much better. I use glass at home to cook in most of the time it's hard to eat healthy on the road.

if you have a decent inverter, you can use a whole variety of things. walmart has electric skillets for $20.
they also have little pots like you would use on a stove but they plug in. and you can also use toaster ovens, electric steamers, and air fryers(alrhough many of the air fryers are prrtty high wattage)
ive noticed that when my cb is on, and i microwave something you can hear the waves being picked up, the microwave drives the cb crazy! kinda scary since its futher from the microwave than i am

What do you think the effect the microwave has on the iron and metals in our food?
It would ruin the nutrients in the food. -LGD Team
@@DrLivingood but is there any study’s on the effects of microwaving in particular the metals in our food?
This video is a big blessing. I am currently trying to remove microwave usage in my family. I am the son and it is quite difficult. This video really helped me and encourages me to keep pursuing freedom from microwave usage. Even if it is convenient.
Hi, I am a minimalist and didn't own a microwave for a long time (and actually requested one last year for christmas since we have a kid and I wanted to reheat coffee almost daily but am reconsidering it, thus here I am).
Here are some things that immensely helped when I didn't have a microwave:
- own a cup sized tiny pot. 250-300 mls. You will find it useful for also making hot chockolate but reheating tea and coffee or milk are the primary uses of a microwave for me
- own stainless steel pots that are dishwasher safe, this is another big motivator for the microwave since microwaving on a plate means less "pots" to clean. If you have full stainless steel including handle just pop it in the dishwasher as a bowl after heating your food and you're good
- as he mentioned, add water to most foods. I spray water into microwave for moisture for most foods and the stove is no different. Add a good amount of water to your pasta or rice or reheated food. Also don't fear olive oil.
- for ovens again, spray your old dried up croissants or bread and other pastry with water then pop em in for a few minutes and they'll be soft and fluffy and fresh seeming. My oven took too long to warm which was my bummer. Some things are more even in the microwave than on the oven but ultimately all were possible I just wanted constant adding heat to my coffee 😅
You should stop listening to made up bullshit and listen to your dad for once.
Microwave heats the food, and that is it.
Very biased. The garlic thing applies to other heating methods as well! I stopped watching when you moved on to broccoli. Give a balanced overview of the topic...
I used a meter and new microwave. I was at dangerous level until I was completely out of the kitchen. This is professional equipment. I was stunned. Please understand that the IEEE safety level is for burns only (heating). That is of no help. We are electrical and our nerves get triggered by microwaves at lower levels of V/m. 2.4Ghz means cm wavelengths so military uses this against enemies to make them really confused / sick / or instant heart attack, so don't take this lightly. Cataracts happen in two very different ways: Direct energy from towers or phones to your eyes. The other is by glycation of your food. That is basically super heating sugar + fat (of microwaved food) which then damages your blood vessels and also cataracts. Now that we have comms at higher 66 GHz, although can't penetrate trees eg. The use of higher powers and directed "antennas" (phased coherence beaming), this energy can be so bad for health (and wartime use against soft targets).
Then you cook only at home.. Not restaurant, not fast food, not take away.... Right?
The heating elements in overn can contain heavy metals.
Does the average toaster oven destroy nutrients?
Toasting bread has minimal influence on its nutritional content. We would recommend using a toaster and/or the broiler feature on your oven if your aren't comfortable with a toaster. 😊 Dr. Livingood has recommendations on his Amazon Market under "Electronic Kitchen Products". amazon.pulse.ly/gjtlxb6vvb - LGD Team
I have never owned a microwave and never will.
The microwave is not destroying the nutrients, it's the overcooking that does this. This holds for all other methods of cooking.
what about electric stoves vs gas vs microwaves
I don't touch corn at all. GMO. Round Up (glyphosate poison). If you do pop corn, only use saturated fat such as clarified butter and don't overheat! I do not use microwave for anything! electric or gas is good. Don't over heat your cooking oil, keep flame lower setting or keep electrical at lower setting. NO Microwave! It turns cooking oil into trans fat and ruins the food.
Thank you Doctor👍👍
I use microwave for all my cooking last 4 years ,I went through 3 already it broke ,,gonna stop now
Are ovens safe ???
Yes! -LGD Team
I have now fully watched your video. I have no idea about the plants test. But I can say that microwaving food is a high frequency / high voltage situation. Me and my electronic friends used to burn up Leads and CFL lights and metal coils and electronic equipment in the microwave for fun. I tell ya, now that I have completely change my eating to opposite to the lies from food industry, I am soooo healthy and only eat once a day. That is when my physics and electronics and mad food science came to an amazing ah ha moment. Everything came together. A microwave is on or off ( or full on for 15 secs and full off for 15 secs at 50% power level). During the on cycle it is blasting uncontrolled energy and point heating to dangerous temperatures. Food should never reach those temps and should always be less than the worse oil you are using. Yep, you cannot have health with a microwave in your house. Sledge hammer anyone?
Thank you very very much, I love your videos. I really appreciate your videos, all of them are very useful and very informative. I totally agree with you no 100% but 200%. ❤❤❤💯

Bad idea, really, really bad. I had a bowl snap into 3 pieces... I don't touch corn at all. GMO. Round Up (glyphosate poison). All these reasons are the same as of you boiled something
Exactly what I was thinking.
Not quit
Remember, no things with bread in the microwave! They get soggy and nasty!
Also, avoid microwaving non ground meats. Doing so often results in said meat taking on weird textures (becoming "rubbery" for instance).
The best use case for the microwave (in my experience) is reheating leftovers that are mostly pasta and sauce based.
Do put the bowl near the edge of the platter though, it'll pass through more standing waves and help reduce the (incredibly IRRITATING) thing where the food isn't evenly cooked (cold sections).
didnt get far into the video... but bro.... cooking brocoli and garlic pretty much every way damages the nutrients... so poor examples but I guess it helped push your anti microwave agenda
MyAV guy said microwaves release a lot of EMF's NOT GOOD
I mean the whole point is to release EMFs. As long as you aren't in the line of sight of the microwave you won't get the radiation. And standing in sunlight has harmful UV radiation so you might as well not stand in that either.

If I eat anything from a microwave, I end up in the ER. My wife previously believed it was just in my head. That was ER visit number 6 or 7.
When did it become okay to destroy our food🤔
.
Unless you grow it yourself, our food is so overly processed and sprayed with chemicals and all kinds of additives 🤢
Lol no man it’s fine to use been using it every day for 30 years and I look 25 also you get more nutrients microwaving because boiling it you lose a ton in the water you throw it out think about it
Ppl decided to not use microwave eating fast food every day and thinking they on healthy way 😂
Well i use my micro wave 5 days a week because im a long haul truck driver. Have no choice
Microwaves heat the food. OooooOOooooOoo!
Microwave is just another way of heating things. Heating food destroys some of the nutrients, regardless of cooking it on a stove or in a microwave. Think about it, what is heating? heating means making the molecules vibrate faster. Now, these vibration can come in the form of micro waves or can come from fire or a hot surface.
that's reassuring for you, don't do anything about it since you don't want to, but microwaves use radiation to produce that vibration and heat. It's not the same as this video clearly shows. It's also suspicious how they don't seem interested in finding out if they cause any long lasting damage (we do know about cataracts so something does leak from them). They really would sell us poison for as long as they're allowed to so it's up to us to reduce our attack surface as much as possible.
His video is joke science. Even if his claims are true, he doesn't bother to compare it to rival ovens such as toaster ovens or frying pans. So his statements lose context completely if toaster ovens do the same to food.
He is right, you dont have a clue
Here come all the microwave salesmen.
You didn’t listen to the video, he compared broccoli losing 90% of its nutrients compared to steaming where you only lose 11%
@@josiahmoeller8821 again. steaming is not a rival to microwave he should have compared it to other ovens such as toaster ovens
I've lived in my apartment for over 10 years
Never wanted a microwave in my pad. I almost never use one at work, maybe twice a year. And friends/family's places maybe a couple of times a year. Range top, oven, and toaster oven.

The cooking method that best retains nutrients is one that cooks quickly, heats food for the shortest amount of time, and uses as little liquid as possible. Microwaving meets those criteria.

I think you should research the effects of microwave again because your information is outdated
Can you briefly outline what is the new information then ?
@manolobenavente319 do not microwave for too long and the foods preserve most of its nutrients better than boiling, frying or baking. That's the latest science.
Yeah this guy doesn't compare other forms of cooking. Boiling food also causes a lot of nutrients to absorb into the water. If you are that worried about loosing nutrients then you better drink that whole pot of water. The longer you cook something the less nutrients you get. Microwaves are the fastest way of cooking.
