I have that same radio. It's a great one. In the USA the model number is MMR-88. At first I was unhappy that it uses an 18500 cell instead of an 18650. Then I realized that I can just plug in a power bank of any size to run the radio. I have ten 20AMP power banks in my emergency gear. In my opinion, the solar panel is a gimmick. It's too small charge the battery fast enough. It can maintain a charge from self discharge if it's in a sunny window for storage.
The European version only have AM and FM, but the North American MMR-88, which have 3 Band AM, FM and NOAA Bands. Both European and USA MMR-88 also have 9 kHz and 10 kHz AM tuning step switch, FM tuning stepping switch either 50 kHz and 100 kHz steps.
Great piece of just in case kit mate! We used to use a piece of kit called the bowman , no doubt out of date now, but was our go to comms at a camp/F.O.P stations, they were ok until they set fire!!! Apparently soldiers were burned from them! I personally never experienced this from a radio set! Hope your kit serves you well brother! Stay safe and happy my friend 👍🏽👍🏽😎👌🏽 Best wishes
You prolly dont care but does any of you know of a method to log back into an instagram account? I stupidly lost my password. I appreciate any tips you can offer me
@Sutton Kellan I really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and im in the hacking process now. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@@Moondog9322 the US version only have NOAA Weather band tuner With alert, both EU and US one can change AM tuning steps either 9 kHz or 10 kHz tuning steps.
Compasses come tuned to different parts of the world. Generally Northern Hemisphere and Southern Hemisphere but also Equatorial for use close to the equator. And global which are tuned to work everywhere. Generally speaking a global compass is less accurate because it has to have some compromise in its tuning to work in north and south hemispheres. They are also more expensive often times,
Silva make compasses in all the different options. . If you can buy it in Australia it will work because they will sell the Southern Hemisphere version in Australia

So, what about the Weather Alert function?
There is no weather alert function
@@verysurvival Must only be on the MMR 88 model sold in the US.

That’s the European MMR-88.
What is "Global needle" on compass?
Good question! It is a needle that works in the northern and Southern Hemisphere.

But if you are flying from Sweden to New Zealand and you don’t want to buy 2 compasses. Now you know that a global compass is for you ;-)
So simple Silva Field compass won't work for example in australia?

i dont trust videos with links in description fo buying stuff...
thanks for contributing
It's a bit clunky.
It's also a bit pricey. I'll hum my own tunes by the campfire.
It reminds me of a lego
@@verysurvival Yeah that would be right!
