@@sharcc2511 i mean irl the mig-23 was known for not being too agile BUT it did keep it's speed like crazy. In game gaijin nerfed its turn to historical value, which would be fine but ALSO decided to ahistorically nerf it's energy retention
Well, this is how it works in real life.
By destroying the mechanics of manually changing radar modes, all MIG-23 variants can no longer engage in radar combat. I can only believe that one day it will come back. Rest in peace Migs 🕯

idk what people expected, this plane is known to be somewhat similar IRL in FM as the F-4's, and as it should be the extra 30/40% maneuverability and infinite sustained AOA it has has been nerfed and it is finally in the state it is supposed to be, only thing that sucks about this is that they didnt nerf the mig-23 sooner lol.
The MLD should have been nerfed 3 years ago but ofc it's now. It's level of being OP led directly to us getting stuff like the awful F-14A meta and where we are now. At least this time more than one nation is worth playing so there is that.
Funnily enough, I just got the MLD yesterday, and was confuse about what was the nerf about, because of me unintentionally avoiding everything related to it I just assumed it was really fast but not as manuvrable - like you're saying -, like a soviet Starfighter on steroids. So yeah, I just have to suffer with R-13 against F-14s :/

Nato currently has the best radar missiles in the game (R77 is, among the worst, MICA-EM is likely best with aim120 close contender), combined with better avionics, better IR missiles (r73s can pull nasty aoa but the reach and flare resistance of the 9M is better, which imo makes them more versatile), better guns, and objectively better flight models. Oh, and more counter measures, for insult to injury

I hope they revert auto switch. I mean, I don't need this plane anymore since I have (almost) entire tree researched and spaded, but player it after update out of curiosity and it's inconvenient. Don't get me wrong, it is still strong, got several good games that evening, but radar is annoying to deal with. MTI engagement is possible if you position yourself carefully, but you need to do some maneuvers instead of pressing a button.
Russian bias or something idk, also the 11.0-12.0 range is absolute torment now because of pheonixes with (basically) no multipathing
they broke the mig23ml by cutting its performance characteristics, taking it from some operating book, only this book was for the mig23ub, because it had the r27f2m-300 engine, but 23ml had r35-300.

Probably never because it'd be horrible in War Thunder. If it does it'll come as a niche aircraft that'll be too high of a BR for it's own good but can't go lower without stomping, especially with how current game modes are. In War Thunder's current state I'd rather not see it right now, because if it was to release it'd be a letdown and everyone would forget it. Rather they release it when they actually fix the Air game modes.

For the first 3 that's basically sim, I'm talking air RB (AB too technically) as that's where most of the playerbase is. The changes to air RB need to include more things to actually do if they wanna stick to their weird 12v12 or 16v16 matches (especially at top tier with Fox3 spamraams) and not accommodate 8v8 besides an "optional" feature that I STILL haven't even seen a match of yet even days after the patch.
Tiers and BR based on production years is a really bad idea, it'd just lead to things like earlier Shermans fighting the Tiger 2. Or for air if you want things like the Japanese F-1 (flareless with only the Aim-9P) to fight F-16A's with the Aim-9L which both planes were introduced in the same year, 1978.
Max BR of a 1 or 2 step difference (by steps I mean for example 9.0-9.3 being 1 step, 9.0-9.7 being 2 step) I don't think would be too bad, but the problem with 1.0 difference is really just an issue due to Gaijin not wanting to decompress things and putting vehicles in certain BR's based on stats.
MM based on your KD would be a horrible idea and doesn't even make sense for WT. If you play your vehicle safe it doesn't make you a good player, it just means you don't die much, it isn't CoD where you can drop a 50 bomb without dying once and drop a nuke because your aim and movement is nuts, people just know where to aim, and getting killed by people who know how to aim was actually somewhat useful to me when I was a growing player.

Mig-23ML/MLD/MLA for an example all received new airframes and FCS in their modernization, but even that gaijin ignored, we send more than 300 sources of test flights and performance data of Mig-23 they don't accept because "we only use official data"... But it's cool because to nerf they used unofficial data from some prototype tests and unofficial data of guys making some sort of math on reports fórum....
And half of data used to make the actual F-16 flight model it's based on unofficial data...

Sad but he wasn't realistic before... A Mig 23 has never had flight performance like this and especially in dogfight. You have to know what you want and WT is meant to be a minimum realistic.

I skipped all mig-23, maybe it was good once, but since the addition of f-16 and mig29 it was unplayable.
They made it better today
for something with makeshift magic 2s, the best within visual range radar missile and a radar that laughed at any NATO Doppler and shared flight model with the f-14B it had a well deserved nerf.

MiG-23 was never the best plane with good (but not the best) flight performance and very poor R-60M's.Yes, it does take r24r but it is still not overperforming weapons (in fact, they are not hard to dodge). MiG-23 was on the level of Phantoms and it was constantly downtiered to F-16A and F-14B, which are straight-up dumbest no-brain planes of the entire game.
Now the plane is killed, because american mains from reddit cound't find the "win" button.

23 was created to kills F4s. F4s are still more capable in terms of having more ordnance. F4 and 23 were balanced as they were, now 23 is annoying to play. It is still strong and can win against F-4s, but gaijin made it annoying. I hate that.
@@iansysoev9462 MiG23s were born to kill F-4s but the F-4s were superior in every single regard, especially since the F-4E got a new radar that the russians tried to copy to no avail. MTI should be quite bad and somehow it's bad ingame but the Russian MTIs surpass F-15 block 15. The F-4E in game also has less turn rate than it had in real life, it was so agile that it could outrate both MiG21 and MiG23 of all kinds. MiG23s had 25 percent more turn rate than they should, so even yet despite having 20 percent nerfed this patch they're still over performing.

I wasn't really a MiG-23 fan, although I do love the MiG family in general. However, now...seeing what they have done. I'm just sad i didn't really get to play that aircraft when it was doing so well. I have two words for that: skill issue. I sturggled at that BR, going above 10.3 was rough.
Now I won't really enjoy the real deal of MiG-23.

Saddest part is all soviet jets are now nerfed i terms of flight performance but all nato jets are performing 1.5x better flight performance wise than they should irl. Mig29 and su27 in game lose speed at 20°aoa 2.5x faster than they do irl... thx gaijin

I have grinded from rank 2 to 6 with ML I bought it two months ago, radar is useless 24R doesn't hit shit, 24T is situational so only thing that works is the r60m head on

Why dont they fix the flight models on US planes too? All of them pull like 12-13Gs while my poor Su-27 can barelly pull 10.
Anyways, the MiG-23 was a fun plane, will remain a good plane for mid alt R-24R 10km shots and headon R-60Ms. It wont dogfight anymore but will still fly
The Su-27 has a fly-by-wire, I which is why it locks up like an F-16 a high speed. You also have to remember Russian jets are designed to pull 7g while American jets can pull 9g

Well, gl to lock anything then, radar got heavily nerfed and you basically can’t use MTI (sort of PD) anymore, I mean you can but rn it works only if you’re looking at the target from above
And about its FM, it’s worse than F-4S rn and well because of that it loses DF to the phantom
So basically you’ll get the F-4S but with worse radar, worse RWR, worse missiles, less amount of missiles and worse FM at the same BR
They also completely destroyed the radar
