The fact they WON silver with a squad at their first Olympics with one less person competing? And missing Simone. The ladies stepped up, and relied on talent and focus which makes Silver just as if its Gold

  • @hermitlifeinthemountainsub9493

I love this team. They relied on their own talents, yet had a competitive spirit. I loved how they all cheered each other on, and how they circled around our beloved Simone, to give her love and support. Thank God they know, and relate. God bless all of them. I hope to see them again in 4 years.

Say what you like about Simone but for her to train for the past FIVE YEARS, all through the Larry Nassar investigation, trial, dealing with that huge trauma of the abuse.. Then get to the vault, and have her Olympic dream shatter.. And still stay on the floor cheering her team mates on - that's somethj g not many of any of us could do. True definition of TEAM, that the others got on and did what they had to do, and support Simone rather than turn on her

Actually, even if it was JADE --- rather than Biles --- so the Team was 4 members instead of 3 (in a full team, you could take out the worst score), the US would very likely have gone on and won the Gold.
The 3-member team (remember, the one apparatus Biles did do, it was very mediocre, due to her mental conditions, as she did it) put the US team in a psychological and physical situation they have no room for even the tiniest of mistake, because everyone's score counted. (The Russians had 4, so they dropped their worst score; also a full team, again, gave them a psychological edge.)
Jade, like Biles, being very strong in both Vault and Floor, would have allowed the US to more or less coast, even without Biles (who really is the best in all-around, but especially in V and F) to the Gold without much problem...

@@kiabtoomlauj6249 in the finals, you don’t drop the lowest score, that’s only during qualifications. In Finals, 3 go up, 3 scores count. That’s another reason she didn’t compete. They had to count her vault. She got penalized for not performing the vault that was on the board.

When the coaches chose to put all their hopes for gold on one person, when the media/nbc chose to put all the attention on one person, they created a recipe for disaster. It isn't Simone's fault that she cracked under the pressure. The stress was enormous. If Simone hadn't stepped down, she would have seriously hurt herself. She saved the team by stepping down, so that she didn't make more mistakes or lose Team USA a spot on the podium. More importantly, she saved herself.
