Regine's vocal power is what makes her unbeatable.. everyone in the Philippines can hit high notes but not as powerful as Regine's doing plus the vocal acrobatics.. . really on the same league of Mariah, Whitney, and Celine. Basically, it's only Regine and Celine who are left on their thrones now. hahaha, Mariah is resting already.. I hope Celine did continue her concert in the Philippines, they could have a duet with Regine.
I don't think Regine is unbeatable. she audition for miss saigon but the producers choose Jaime Rivera.
@@amayaliagon3183 that was interviewed by Regine before but I forgot what happened. Regine thinks that broadway is not for her plus her father chooses her to stay in the Philippines. I actually viewed regine's interview just now. 2003 yun and the interviewer asks her that who is the producer that was courting her. Anyway it's past. Regine is now in her highest reign she don't need explanation anymore.

I was there in ASAP Rome so witnessed the whole performance.
This is one of my favorite duet performances. I remember that queen Regine was a lil bit sick during that night but she did great. Queen Regine's voice is so powerful and strong ever since up to now. That's why singers are afraid to have a duet with her. She commands the stage during the duet or group performances. She's still unbeatable for me when it comes to vocal power and strength.

Queen of the Night concert was done in Kia Theatre in Quezon City its a big venue but there is a bigger venue just across the street: the 50k capacity Araneta Coleseum... That is what Regine was referring to regarding the venues where Jona performed...

i describe regine as the lady with a built-in amplifier because her voice is so powerful. when i watched her free concert in the UST grounds, i was near the speaker. i became partially deaf after the concert. :)

Dan, here's a rough translation from 1:58 to 7:13. Some of what they said I didn't hear quite clearly so I skipped those. And some of the things Regine says jokingly is much funnier than its English translation.

No but (seriously), I would like to personally thank ABS-CBN for giving this young lady a chance. And you know, she deserves it. She's one of the few who is really so talented, and I really really believe in her, and I am so happy that you have this concert.
Jona: In my previous concerts, Ate (referring to Regine but this term literally means "sister" or is generally a term of respect for an older but not elderly female) would always sell me to the audience ... like she would say something like "You deserve to be heard in a much bigger venue", so now it's happening ...
Regine: Oh no no .. there's a bigger one than this (which you deserve to perform in) ... the one in front of this over there. And may I just say, you are not only queen of the night, you are queen, period. We would like to sing this beautiful song that I think ..... you know I saw Jona's struggles when she was just this small ...
Jona: And until now (referring to the fact that she's still short) ..
Regine: No you're about this tall now. No but I know how passionate you are about your career, your craft, your singing and it shows. Don't you all see and feel every note that she sings . I don't know what to say anymore but I am just so proud of you and you deserve this, you really do sweetheart. So next time, you will be there (referring to the much bigger venue), maybe next year. You guys are gonna be there right!? Go there okay!
Jona: I can't say much more but just that I am so thankful to Ate Reg for all the support, for all the love that she has shown. I want to thank you for giving your time tonight to be with us, thank you so much.
Regine: My pleasure .. and ABS-CBN paid me a lot (so all good!). And my husband is there already (in ABS-CBN) so we're getting paid a lot. You forgot the funniest part of their dialogue: when Regine said at 4:05 “...and it shows! Here’s how the rest translates.. Regine, talking to the audience: “and it shows! Can’t you all experience and feel every note (nota) that she is singing...(pause) the word “note” just sounds dirty” (audience laugh)...”Why do gay guys have to ruin that word for us...*talks to the crowd (presumably all the gay guys watching) “This is all your fault, you know that!”
Context: the word “nota” had become the common slang for a “penis, cock” especially when gay guys refer to it in an endearing way, like when they tell their friends about the penis of their trick from last night. So when Regine uses that word for it’s originally meaning, as in music note, it made her pause to rephrase her statement without using “nota” which did sound vulgar and sleazy and def not what she intended. Of course being the comic that Regine is she had to joke about it.

Regine and Jona worked together for almost or more than 10 years before Jona transferred to ABS-CBN last year that is why their harmony is really great. Regine hosted the singing contest where Jona won. She became Jona's mentor and still close eventough there not on the same network... Few hours before R30 concert Jona's father passed away...
At first she was saying some gay slang , she was saying This part is scary (while going down) and then tells the guy to escort her because she is nearing 100 yrs old. lol!
