    Great video. What I love about these clocks, and other similar mechanical devices, is that you can learn how they work-and learn a lot in general-just by taking them apart and exploring.

    FYI: I did not mean to imply that the Japanese invented the concept of a synchronous motor, but they invented the Copal II motor shown in this video for in use in flip clocks.

      Actually, the first flip clock was invented in 1894 by an Austrian. That is not to diminish the Italians contribution to flip clocks and especially the Solari boards!
