Exactly, my parents never talked to me about safe sex and looking back my health class in high school only taught us about sexually transmitted diseases. Nothing about the various forms of contraception or even abstinence, which is funny but at the same time sad. They ignored the actual topic of sex itself and just talked about the different ways you could be harmed or harm a partner but had no actual discussion about how to prevent the transmission of such illnesses and the prevention of pregnancy.

I'm going to say something what may be hard for some people to hear but I think people need to hear as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints I firmly believe that contraception needs to be taught in schools. The reason why I say that is because before I left my ex-husband I found out after the divorce that he had been having sex with men and because of that I ended up getting human papillomavirus. I was lucky enough to have a strain that did not cause cancer but it was still a very painful process. I truly want anyone who thinks that just because they stay true to their Church they're going to be protected that they need to truly know to protect themselves in case your partner decides to cheat on you or you're choosing to be sexually active with that person for the first time. I'm sorry if this offends anyone I just want to help people be safe.

One gal got pregnant in 7th grade, and if she had stayed in school, she would have dropped her kid off at elementary school on her way to high school.

Why does abstinence-only ignore the need for family planning within marriage? Evangelical stands of Christianity aren't against birth control. Just because your married doesn't mean you're in the position to make babies!

There should be sex education and the lessons of the importants of safe sex. Abstinence can be done but it doesn't always mean that everyone can resist the urge to have sex. Plus the lessons of unwanted pregnancies to help rape victims.

  • @disneyprincessintraining2725

If my religious university explains that comprehensive sex education is what’s most effective (they’re also advocates for abstinence) and encourage families to teach it to their kids, it’s probably time to have better sex education. Abstinence is great, but it should not be the only way taught. My husband and I decided to wait until we were married, but I’m so glad we were educated on contraception (by our families, schools were abstinence only) and safe sex. Kids need facts and honesty, not crap just to scare them. My mom pulled me out of sex ed because she didn’t like the shaming and telling kids they were bad for having sex, and then made sure I knew about condoms and all that jazz.

Listen folks! The best way to teach about sex is to go to the one who created it, and that's GOD! Humans don't have a law or commandment in this fight. It boils down to sin vs holiness. According to God's Word in scripture, it tells us to FLEE FORNICATION (1 Corinthians 6:18)." Fornication is engaging in illicit sexual conduct outside of the union of husband and wife. This may include adultery, homosexuality, sodomy, beastiality, orgies, etc. I encourage all to read the HOLY BIBLE. By me reading 1 Corinthians 6:9-20 explains why we are not to engage in whoredom. Our bodies are considered temples for the Holy Spirit to dwell in. If you defile your holy temple and don't get forgiveness and correct this with Jesus before you die, then you will not inherit eternal life in heaven. The choice is your folks. BTW....my husband and I was able to maintain our virginity until marriage. He was 33, and I was 32 years old when we said, "I do." All things are possible with Christ. Amen.
