What a haul. I can't imagine the cost. Thanks for sharing, Rob.
Thanks so much for sharing the magnificent Birdseye Maple. Looking forward to more videos explaining the characteristics of these great woods.
I was just at Exotic Woods on Friday. Never leave empty handed! Thanks for sharing!
Great video, beautiful maple.
Spectacular, thanks for sharing
Super nice selection. Thanks for sharing that.
Very cool beautiful wood. Thank you
Very nice, Rob!
Nice looking piece of wood Rob
Beautiful stuff rob!! I saw that you were in Knoxville. I was going to stop by and say hey, but I was actually having car trouble. Maybe next time!!
Love it!
Katalox is really cool. Those are gorgeous pieces of the stuff.
Looks like a nice batch of wood, Rob!!!!
Look who's talking!
Gorgeous
Got my guitar with AAA Birds Eye Maple Fingerboard/Fretboard. Amazing video. Thanks for the detailed video :)
Birdseye maple fingerboard?
What a waste...
Wow! Thank You Rob for sharing your excitement. Now I'm just waiting to see what you make with this beautiful wood.
very good 👏👏
That's some gorgeous BEM.
I have a dw collectors series drym set that has an ebony stained birdseye maple finish. It's absolutely stunning and I don't feel worthy to play it. I only really use it for recording sessions, and use the laminate wrapped (Ultra White Oyster) dw kit for live performances.
Love it. BIG TIME. I work in Swedish masur birch. But this was lovely.
Thumbs up for masur birch.
I am not a birds I maple fan.
Hi Rob, that is some gorgeous wood and I'm always envious of your shop. Is it too early to wish you a Merry Christmas? :D
Never too early or too late, and Merry Christmas to you and yours.
I've had up to 30 eyes per sq inch but I prefer the big eyes close together. Ahhhhhh northern michigan maple
*Correction* The larger diameter log is in fact Verawood, and the taller one behind it is the Claro/English Walnut.
Is claro the stuff that's all over California?
That's nice. I have a piece of AAAA Bordseye from floor of shoe factory built in 1923. But it's just normal big enough to do much with it.
Birdseye maple !best
crazy hand planing! next level shit
5:35 - thar's some gorgeous wood. That's make a hell of a neck for my Tele
When planning you went at an angle. In other videos I've seen they have sanded at an angle. Can you tell me what the advantage of doing that way is? Nice video and beautiful wood.
No idea why you'd sand at an angle but with a planer the idea is to achieve a skewer cut across which reduces the chance for tearout
Any of that maple or Katalox going to end up saw handles? I'm in need of a nice dovetail saw if you catch my hint haha.
yep, that is why I bought it, hint hint!
Where can I get those HR 64 blades made?
Incredible. Don't find that very much. Do you have any leads?
Exotic Woods, Burlington, Ontario Canada
Here in Ontario I have no problem finding birds eye maple.. Just picked up some premium bird eye and it is amazing. Not quite as nice as the stuff rob has here but
great for a guitar neck
In my guitar I have Birdseye Maple fingerboard from Kiesel.
My guitarist uses those guitars!
you should make some guitars!

What happened to your fingers boss ?
hockey stick callous that gets ripped open if I dont tape it.
RobCosman.com glad to hear it’s non woodworking related. How about a hockey video for the holidays?
Rob, I was always told it is bad practice to lay a hand plane face down on the bench like that, regardless the hardness. Place on the SIDE when not in use!
You’ve been lied to. I’m here to bring you to the light.
@@RobCosmanWoodworking I have quite a stash of this Birdseye Maple. Very figured, at least AAA. Would a bevel-up smoothing plane be an alternative to the one you were using? I'm almost afraid to try...
Sharp is the key. Light pass, closed throat and a sharp blade, no need to fear!
@@RobCosmanWoodworking Is that the The WoodRiver® V3 No. 5-1/2 Bench Hand Plane?
I SPEEND MORE BUT IF WORTHED
I think you have too many tools, give some to me. Jk cools video
