At 20:10 I accidently hit the 0 on my number pad which on my laptop is right next to my right arrow key (yeah, I play all my games on my laptop, no gamepad/joystick), when I say right next to, I mean right next to, it's a very compact keyboard and have like 2 mm between the keys. Anyway, I've played for about 2 mins then without saving so didn't bother loading. So on the next stage player two will come, but np... p2 dies fast (duh).
This is not like recording and using savestates like I'm used to with the Amiga emulator (WinUAE), so whenever I load or save a game, there's a tiny "hiccup" as some frames get lost everytime.
After beating the game you can play a special stage... which is very hard so I killed myself instead to show the highscore part. If you wanna see this stage + the cool boss, check this video: www.youtube.com/watch#!v=wvvFM...
Yeah, it looks easy for him because he plays this game in another emulator that supports re-recording, so no sound hiccups and no problem making it perfect. As I don't record many arcade games anyway I do it the old fashioned way of loading and saving savestates and editing the video files together manually.
In my emulator the game is called "Gokuyjou Parodius", but on most other places people have named it "Gokujou Parodius". I don't speak Japanese, but to me "Gokujou" looks more Japanese so I went with that one :) -

Konami before: "We Love Shooting Games!"
Konami today: "We Love Pachinko Games!"
Wherever the money is.
I thought it was Konami : "We love Rhythm Games"
That was a decade or two ago.
You sure about that? Many of the Bemani line is still going on now.
Yeah I suppose I haven't been paying much attention to what's out there much these days.
13:00 lol that movement😂
Absolutely mental game! They don't make 'em like this anymore. This is like a psychedelic, campy descent into unbridled creativity - and so beautiful to boot. Nuts. Modern day developers would never make anything as bold and creative as this - modern games rarely have that 'breezy' fun feeling, and if they attempt it it often feels contrived. This game feels like it was made by a team that were having a LOT of fun, and who were at the height of their powers. I miss that kind of creativity in games.
That is all very true.
It would have been crazy if they made a big crossover with this, actual Gradius, their other parody games and R-Type..
@Operator
Ok Boomer
The creativity of the Parodius series is simply genius! I'm sure working for a game company, like any job, is stressful with deadlines to be met, but these games looked like they were so much fun to make!
This is when amazing shoot emups were made. Love this series ❤
fun fact: if you leave the octopus woman at the end alive for long enough, it’ll just explode anyways. Its really funny lmao
Wish we had more parodius versions.
@sora412zx
Yes, it's a parody of gradius, which is why it's called Parodius. It also has a twinbee kind of play as well, with the bells.
Known in Europe as Fantastic Journey.
It recalls my sweet memories...
Pretty sure Cuphead’s shoot em up segmets were inspired by Parodius... like the mermaid and flying chickens are totally straight out of Parodius
Loved the music so much
my favourite arcade game ever!
one of my favorite arcade games!
Awesome game. We need games like this.
This is my favorite parodius game ever.
:D
I'll never forget reading about the preview of this in EGM's Quaterman's Corner back in 1994! The preview pictures and and the 2 bunny girls made me buy that issue! I consider this to be the best Parodius game! It hit the just the right amount of perfection of the franchise here. I remember Quaterman saying: "Again unlikely here in the U.S." Little did we know that the following year this game would be a launch title for the brand new PS1 in 1995 and what a stunner it would be as well.
Alleluia It's raining deers!
11:52
Heh, that is actually quite naughty even for a joke. Konami team must've had quite sense of a humor to put that boss in. Oh japan how we love you. :)
The first game had her too.

Want to know what the megaphone stuff says? (hint: yes, you do. it is O_o)
This game was ported to Saturn/Playstation as "Parodius Deluxe Pack", and both versions were actually released in Europe (not the US)! If you can find a copy, they're worth checking out.
Surely a lot of crack went into this game
7:36 nice... bananas(?)
This is just em-BEAR-rassing! 3:31
Dont know about you guys but Micheal has the same shield from Darius
6:36 F Bacon
emulator?
This version has better movement frames, music,
and SFX than the SNES version. 🙂
No shit it will. The SFC version isn't that bad especially since it added exclusive characters like Goemon and Kid Dracula. The same goes for the other Super Famicom Parodius ports, There not bad and just as enjoyable as the Arcade versions.
Snes version is fantastic, the soundtrack is amazing as well. Jikkyou parodius on Snes is also 👌
@@skinnyweenie8679 arcade is better... no problem
@@Cav_Florian Sure, whatever.
Roughly as old as I am, and it's on my level of irony poisoning. Konami knew what they were doing
저때만 해도 갓나미였는데.. 지금은 콘마이로 ㅜㅜ
Where's the special stage?
Konami - we love shooting games ! ^^
WTF! On the Saturn version there are no instant respawn, you get checkpoints instead! Same thing on the SNES version!
Actually, you can toggle respawns instead of checkpoints in the options.
*****
Best port is the Saturn version, you get freeplay mode & instant respawn instead of checkpoints^^
+Le Docteur You get instant respawn in all versions of this game, whether arcade, SFC, PS1, PSP, or Saturn, all you have to do is choose Auto Powerup. The only version that isn't free play mode is the SFC version.
6:19 It reminds me of Cala Maria.
who was your most favorate character
Vic viper duh
Koitsu
Konami LOVES shooting games!
esse jogo e o mais dificl que já joguei na vida
The Dracula was best, with those ridicilous homing missilies allover the place the game had no chance.... all you had to do was just avoid obstacles.
He's not present in arcade version.
denkik lagi!
20:04 She looks like Mina from Twice 😮
Wait. WTF is "Twice" ???
