The reason the Germans didn't make 1935s pistols probably has to do with St. Etienne being in the zone libre, while Alsace was "annexed" by Germany. As to why the Germans didn't later make MAS40s was because the tooling was hidden as MAS36 tooling. The tooling was pretty similar on purpose anyways. I also seem to remember reading some anecdotes stating that it was too much trouble to make MAS36s in 7.92.

I like my 1935s. It is a high polish blue with gold accents. Its sexy. Came with a left handed basket weave holster. When I bought it it also came with 188 rounds of original ammo. 1 complete box of original ammo. And the guy tossed in some vintage hoppes stuff.

Interesting review of a pretty nice pistol, I have owned both models and have the 1935S M1 still. Steinel makes a very good custom using starline 7.65x20 Long brass and a 110 grain bullet at 1039 FPS for 250 foot pounds, and feeds outstanding FAR SUPERIOR to the ammo made from reformed .32 S&W Long Revolver cartridge. The trigger on my 1935S is outstanding. Thanks for reviewing this handgun series. Dont laugh but I have actually carried mine as a fishing and exploring pistol, since I have coveted one of these for that purpose as a teen when they were $25.00 back in the mid 1960s.

How was carrying and using it for that purpose? It ever let you down?

@@MilsurpWorld no not yet, the ammo made the difference. The other stuff I had with ammo made with revolver brass recut was not reliable

Excellent video. I recently saw a 1935A at a Gun Show. It was a little pricey, but it was really beautiful and I could see it was a well made gun. I should have picked it up but at the time it seemed too costly. C' est la vie.

Is anyone aware of a parts source for the 1935A? Trying to restore one my father brought back from WWII. Gunpartscorp sold out of most.

Hey so there is a 1935s for sale at my gun store. Been there for years I think they are asking 500 but I’ve bought 5 guns from them so do you think if I offer 350 it won’t be insulting and a good price?

Sorry for all of the separate comments, I should watch then comment instead of commenting as I watch. Triggers on mine are similar, 35A is heavy but crisp, 35S is light but mushy and a bit unpredictable
