    As a chemical engineer, I thought that he did a good job. However, he did succumb to the myth about changing the temperature during the day. From a pure engineering standpoint, that will not change the total energy required during a day. However, it will change when the unit runs.

      @@NUTZJ98 You'd need to be gone for multiple days for it to be effective. If the temperature in your place at 8 AM is that same as it was at 8 AM the day before, then you'd have removed (or added) the same amount of energy regardless of how you played with the thermostat during the day. It's a simple energy balance that every ChemEng is taught in their very first class. If it makes one feel better to play with the thermostat, then go for it. But, it won't save any energy.

      @@americanexpat8792 not true, your home will loose more btu per hour at 72 than at 62.

      @@Bajaheat That’s true if the temperature were turned down that low for a couple days. However, if it’s only a couple hours, which is what most people would do, you’d never see the effect due to poor wall thermal conductivity.
