    Our hamster got out and hid in the insulation of our oven and couldn’t get out. We took apart the whole back with no luck. Fortunately my neighbor found this video and within 5 minutes we had our hamster alive and happy in her cage again. Thank you!

    I have almost the same oven, but ours is a little bit different. We have the GE Profile™ 30" Free-Standing Double Oven Range and the model is JB968S0H1SS and this thing was over $1500, but we cannot find any glass replacement. Just today the top cracked for no reason from the left burner all the way to the right burner for no reason.

      That black cooktop is part number 5304513973 and it costs $179.64. Here's a link for that part: www.searspartsdirect.com/product/5zwwq18e6j-0022-628/id-5304513973 . We recommend that you use the model number of your range to access the parts list for your model and look up the part number for range to make sure it's the same as the one shown in the video. If your range uses a different glass cooktop, order the part that's designated for your range. We hope the information helps. If you need further assistance, let us know.

    • @searspartsdirect
      @searspartsdirect  Před 4 lety

      No. The range is specifically designed for the glass top and it isn't possible to switch out the glass top to a top that used coil burners.

      @searspartsdirect  Před 5 lety

      We don't have a video that shows how to complete that repair on a slide-in range. Let us know the model number of your range and we'll provide some instructions that should help you complete the repair.

      @@bettinautz Unplug the range or shut off the house circuit breakers for the range to disconnect electrical power. You'll need to remove the control panel before removing the glass top. You can refer to the parts diagram for your range while completing this repair. You can find the part diagram on our Sears PartsDirect website: www.searspartsdirect.com/ Remove all knobs from the control panel then remove the faceplate retainers while holding the faceplate in place (the faceplate is attached to the control by a ribbon wire harness that you don't want to damage). Pull the faceplate up about 3 inches then unplug the faceplate ribbon wire connection from the circuit board on the back of the faceplate. Carefully set the faceplate aside. Open the oven door and remove the screws from the bottom of the control panel that secure the control panel to the vent trim. Remove the 4 screws from the steel control panel insert then pull that steel insert up and disconnect the wire harness plugs. Pull the steel insert out. Remove the 5 screws that secure the control panel to the glass top assembly. Remove the screws that attach the glass top assembly to the range body side extension. You should then be able to slide the cooktop forward slightly and lift it off the range. Reverse the above procedure to install the new glass top and reassemble the range. We hope this information helps. This is a complicated repair and our general description of the procedure may have overlooked some details of the repair that you may need to figure out yourself. Let us know if you need more help. If you decide that the repair is too complicated for you to complete on your own, don't hesitate to have a service technician install the new glass top for you. Here's a link to schedule service in case you need it: www.searshomeservices.com/repair

    Hello many thanks for this useful video. I have a model JCBS630SFSS or similar. It looks like the range in video. I'd like to know if it is possible/safe to continue using the top ceramic glass if the glass itself is broken only over one burner? The rest of the glass for the other burners is fine. If need to be replaced, should be replaced only the top glass or glass including frame and 4 burners inside of it? Thanks

    • @searspartsdirect
      @searspartsdirect  Před 4 lety +1

      We don't recommend that you continue to use the range with a cracked glass cooktop. Liquid can leak down through the cracks and short out the surface element and/or other wiring and components inside the range. Short circuits are dangerous. They can cause electrocution. We recommend that you unplug the range and replace the glass cooktop. There's likely no need to replace the surface elements unless you see obvious damage to those components. You may consider replacing the entire range because the glass cooktop is an expensive repair part. We hope this information helps. If you need more assistance, let us know.

      @@searspartsdirect Thanks so much for the answer and suggestions. When you say replace the entire range you mean complete stove with oven at all? Isn't it worth replacing only the glass because of the cost?

    • @searspartsdirect
      @searspartsdirect  Před 4 lety +1

      @@MeTube2014 Check the price of the repair part. I didn't find information on the model number that posted (JCBS630SFSS). For a typical GE range, the glass cooktop can cost around $400. If you need to have a service technician install that part, it can cost another $200 to $300. Repair costs can quickly approach the cost of a new range. If the range is over 10 years old, you typically shouldn't spend more than 1/2 the cost of a new range on repairs. If you can replace the glass top for less than 1/2 the price of replacing the entire range and the range isn't that old, then replacing the glass top is typically the way to go.
