Same, amazing it actually works 😁
When I was in high school my friend and I would spend the last few days in the art room helping clean supplies and we would use fabric softener to clean the brushes
Such a life changing tip
Yeah fabric softener works fine for occasional use on synthetic brushes used for acrylic paint. I however wouldn’t use it on animal hair brushes (baby shampoo gets oil paint off those) or brushes you use for watercolour paints as the fabric softener residue repels the watercolour paint; making your brushes useless.
I reallly like how she is commenting her fans ....so sweet❣😊
@@pauliedoodle1939 What would you recommend to clean watercolor brushes? Just baby shampoo or no?
Nia Bothwell Just water, you shouldn’t need anything else to remove watercolour paint. If it’s particularly stubborn to remove from in between the bristles then just massage the bristles gently under a running tap until the water runs clear, then gently dry and reshape the brush with a paper towel and leave to finish air drying.
PS don’t use any water temperature over lukewarm when you’re cleaning (or soaking) paintbrushes, since anything hotter will soften the glue that holds in the bristles and make them more likely to fall out when you’re painting
Celia Barbieri This is exactly what I thought about the fabric softener too, it’s going to effect the glue. Not only that, I would be interested to see how well the brushes hold paint after being in the fabric softener. I have a feeling it’s going to effect that as well.
I've done it my brushes are still lookin good
Manoj Kumar Rout Just out of interest, how often have you used fabric softener on your paint brushes, have you painted again with them and what paint do you use? ❤️
I use room temp water but the bristles literally just d I p
@@pauliedoodle1939 not much I only use it when there is no way to take out the paint , I mostly use acrylic paint , and yes I've used those brushes alot they look good so mabye this varies on the brand or maybe quality of brush I'm not sure 😀

“Dry painting” is actually an old technique common in traditional medical illustration. It’s called carbon dusting and it’s best to use carbon pencil shavings and sable watercolor brushes. I learned this in art school (my major in Biomedical art).
biomedical art sounds so interesting 👁👄👁 is it just medical illustrations ?
Catsadin thank you so much :))) yes! It is just medical illustration but my school (undergraduate program) calls the major Biomedical Art!

OMG another Hack!!!
To help with the bleaching to get more defined lines from beginning and keep areas black. You can do an at home/DIY batik dying method. All the areas you don't want getting bleached you cover paint in with Elmer's gel glue, glitter glue works too. It soaks into the fabric so the bleach/dye won't soak into those areas. The glue comes out in the wash maybe 2 depending how thick. In traditional Batik dying they use hot wax and not glue.
It's like using masking fluid for water colors expect for fabric.

These are useful tips that people may simply be unaware of. I’d add to use caution with the bleach and recommend great ventilation or doing so outside on a good day. I heard about the paintbrush used to blend ages ago and bough brushes I use just for that; I’d add get makeup brushes such as from the dollar store. Have one set for dry charcoal/etc. One set for watercolour paint and one for acrylic, etc. I find the techniques you get with soft makeup brushes allow amazing results! Small soft makeup brushes can very easily soften hard edges large ones can apply soft airbrush like effects. They can be used wet or dry for different effects. And used with no paint (just to soften/blend) or with paint to apply softly, etc!
Yeah; I’ll add that!
Fun video thanks!
I just need to say I love watching your videos on my mental health days. Best wholesome & creative "lazy" mental health day content out there

I have a color pencil hack:
(Apologize for bad English. I'm not a native speaker)
Take your color pencil. Keep it in water for exactly 6.3 mins.
After that, remove it, you get like painty texture
i remember doing the gradient thing with my highlighters in school HAHA
I've seen other people who make money off of their art but since I'm still young I really want to know would I be able to make a living off of art or do I have to settle for going for something else
I didn't know you can draw Mineta
Me thinking the same thing
Minoru Mineta this is just my opinion so don’t come at me, but I think it’s very difficult to make a living out of art, so maybe have it as a side job?
There is no rush to decide (no matter what society says) :)
If you set up a shop or something on many different websites selling many different things, I do believe that you can make a living out of art no problem! Especially if you grow on CZcams, tiktok(maybe not since it's probably getting blocked) or byte. You can gain a following and become a freelance artist and gain partnerships and sponsorships where you can be paid to feature products and stuff! (Pretty sure it's not that easy but you probably know what I mean)

Me: catches my hair on fire with a candle trying to chase cats

Honestly, to clean your brushes wicked thoroughly, The Masters Brush Cleaner and Preserver is the best thing ever. I have had brushes that were hard as a rock, and I was able to bring them back to life with it. I am a miniature model painter, so I use kolinsky sable brushes (which are crazy expensive) so I need to keep them nice, and that stuff has been a life saver. I got a 2.5oz thing of it from Dick Blick for like $7 a year ago, and I haven't even used half of it yet. (You can also get it on Amazon, but it is a little bit more expensive).
Hey Rae i am 11 and i just love the way u draw . I started drawing by seeing u and now i draw very well.☺

I love the way that you painting🙂i want to paint just like you🙂
Just wanted to say, Jackie's hack also worked with my blendable water based markers, so you don't have to have alcohol markers to use the hack.
(the gradient with my markers was a little steaky tho)
I don't, nor will I ever have a TikTok, but I'm happy you're giving the other creators recognition Rae ^^

Please do true crime stories and art cause mysteries and art are 2 of my favorite things
The fabric softener will work but so will dish soap (highly recommend the brand Ajax!) Soak the brushes in the mixture. Then wash them out. And I had the issue of my brushes losing shape so i left the dish soap on and shaped them back to normal and leaving them until I needed them again. Wash the soap out before you use the brushes again. It's not perfect but it helps a bit!

Great add to the brush cleaning hack, a better version is warm water, dish soap, and white vinegar let it sit for like 10 min and comb through under water with a toothpick to get the stuff at the base, but the combing isn't necessarily necessary
