Wow Man! The effort you put into this whole video, the editing, the research, the money.... seriously no words to thank you, this is a video I didn't know I needed to see as a psp enthusiast. I've dabbled in a lot of fake original batteries and just made my peace with getting 1-2 hrs battery life with sudden shutdowns. now i see that is not the case, the ostent's sounds so amazing, 5 hrs with the psp 3k seemed unimaginable in this era. Thank you again for doing all this and keeping us updated and informed. I can see these videos take a toll on you because you do them with perfection and that takes a lot of time, effort and money... just gonna say that we the psp community really do appreciate it!

I’m fully modding all of them with all the mods you've showed and I’m gonna try installing an ips screen mod and clear faceplate on a 1000 tomorrow. I already set the glass lens to cure in the faceplate so hopefully everything goes smoothly tomorrow. These videos hella entertaining
I wish we had a guy like you in the DS/3ds community. Also I bought a pickle power battery for the 3ds XL (orange color battery) and it was worse than my 10 year old OEM battery.
This came in handy. I recently decided to refurbish my old PSP for sentimental reasons, and found that the original battery ballooned up in storage. Thanks.
My 12 year old Original battery that came with my 3000 is still perfect. I have been using my PSP on a daily basis since 2012 and haven't had any problems. Sony engineering is just amazing.
@@imhxrv I never let my battery get depleted to 0 percent, I always charge at 40 percent and if I don't use the PSP for an extended period I always check up on it from time to time (Every 2-3 Weeks) to see if it's still working as intended and then give it a charge if needed. Also I never play with the system while it's connected to a charger if I want to do that I just remove the battery and then play it with the AC plugged in. My PSP 3000 is very old, the outer shell has taken a beating but the machine is still fully functional UMD drive, LCD, Analog Nub and all the buttons still A-okay. I guess it's safe to say I took good care of it.
Came here just now after my 7 yr old son found my original Model PSP-110 I’d left out on my work bench. He plugged in the charger and within 5 mins ran upstairs to me saying the back cover blew off 😳 It didn’t explode just swelled up. I safely removed it and of course googled why this happens and finding out I’ve let this sit for over 8 yrs of non usage. Well now I’m grateful even more so for your video and still need to buy a replacement battery so I can pass on the enjoyment of the PSP to my mini me
I would get one for your self as well, and then you can play local multiplayer games using adhoc. Tons of fun specially with racing games that the psp is plenty of. Never gets old Would recommend saving the BMS on that original battery as well as the cover, incase you get into modding and want to install a high capacity battery or even recover your psp
Can you believe bro that just these days I'm starting to get these consoles for collection?… And your video fits me perfectly. 🤩 I know there probably aren't many of us, but a video of you showing how to replace the batteries on the street version would be great. 😃

Great video! It took me until just now to say "yeah I'm interested, I'll watch it" instead of passing it over; that does tend to happen where you're just not quite interested in a specific video you're seeing quite yet (even if the subject matter does generally interest you) and then you're in the mood later. I love the extremely comprehensive, almost obsessive videos that get way into the nitty-gritty details of everything; I'm all for that stuff. Love having this big database of battery information here. I definitely will want to look into the PSP-1000 size battery + an expanded battery cover fitting the 3000. Also good to see those external PSP battery chargers -- it absolutely sucks to use the original charger on my PSP because it doesn't work half the time (bad connector on the charger itself) and nothing uses the mini-USB on top of the PSP anymore. Charging with USB Mode is slow, but at the same time I don't want to use the OEM AC adapter because A: mine is bad, and B: we've really moved on from proprietary charging at this point as a society. It appears since I bought my PSP-3000 new in box really late, like in 2012-2014 or so, I have the exact same TA-095v2 as you (but Piano Black), and I've never really been disappointed in the battery life of mine with the stock battery. The relative newness of my battery and it being the most power-efficient PSP-3000 model is probably why. Plus if I'm not going to use it for a while, I try to charge to a bit over 80% before storing it outside of the console, which is usually what's recommended for storage and it doesn't tend to be dead when I next intend to use my PSP.
I feel you with that first one lol I got a solderless type-c mod that shows you how to get a perfect cut out, and can be adapted for a soldered method.
I just recently got into PSP modding and your LCD IPS upgrade video helped me so much when I tried installing one myself. Thank you so much for everything you do!

Now we wait for the new panels for the 2000 and 3000 models (and maybe the GO, but I think it has the perfect screen as it is).

Man, I've been waiting for this video since you put the survey on the channel, I felt bad about the batteries sacrificed for the investigation especially because in my country they are difficult to get (some cannot be shipped or the shipping costs are too high). I loved the video, excellent work
I asked myself why many times throughout especially when I finally calculated how much it cost & the time it took. Why am I doing this for a 20 year old piece of tech? lol
Thank you so much for such thorough research! This topic was never getting enough coverage. Now I wonder when/if the situation with the Vita batteries is going to change and how it's going to look like when it will, as now the only third-party batteries available seem to be simply relabeled OEM Vita batteries. Edit: Ahh, third-party PSP Go batteries is still a mystery...
This is what I've been waiting for :D I have a similar experience, but I tested the batteries differently. First I discharged to the end, then while charging I read the current drawn, taking into account charging losses/efficiency. Scam of course I returned, especially since I order a minimum of 10 each :)
So glad I stumbled across this video, now I can get some actually good batteries. Also in the future, if a battery gets punctured and catches on fire/explodes, you want a bucket or pot of sand, its the best and safest way to contain a small battery fire.
Bro, you are doing gods work here by testing all these batteries! Just bought two Ostents right after watching this, one for my 1000 and another for my 3000. They will be replacing my old original Sony batteries which, due to age alone, have constantly made me nervous of the inevitable day they would get "spicy" as you call it lol. I don't want any batteries expanding or exploding inside my PSP's. Any other PSP I get from here on out will be equipped with a Ostent.
Holy Crap you are doing amazing work here. I got a reasonably good battery off Amazon that seemed to have good reviews about a year ago, however it is now out of stock and not sold anywhere I can find anymore. The one thing I wish is someone would clone the PCB of the OG batteries as the other issue that's annoying when tinkering with the PSP is you cannot charge any of the replacement batteries over USB.
Im pretty sure you can charge third party using the mini usb, do you have the feature enabled? Perhaps its time for a solderless type-c port: czcams.com/video/XVT2RHyB1Do/video.html
@@TotalKommando With the 3rd party batteries, they all "look" like they are charging, but if you go a while you can see the battery never increases in charge. If there is one that does work normally with it that would be a nice perk of the find. Though I agree swapping the Mini USB for Type-C would be a nice upgrade.
I noticed when you open the battery packs, that there is a lot of unused space with the padding in them that fills the void. If you took a good battery board and two of the best cells and connected them in parrel with each other, you could effectively create a bigger battery then the original Sony batteries and fit it within the battery casing. I'll try this out based on what you showed us here and post the results when I get it done.
Yea it's definitely possible but most of those padded ones are padded because they are running low capacity cells, one idea i had for a while for easy battery sourcing & a somewhat reversable mod is to get multiple good quality slim batteries and run them in parallel in the battery compartment & umd area with small holes for wires running through the walls
I ripped the case on my psp 2004's battery pack and placed a 3.7 v regular 18650 LI-ION wired to the original PCB. Works better than any of those. Glued a casing for it on the back of the psp and boom, 4 hours in game or more and that with an old battery that was sitting around for 2+ years, no name also.
bought OSTENT after watching this vid and it finally came in post. its banging yo, compared to noname fake one for 3 bucks its like ten times the battery life. plus it doesn't lie to me that its charged and then instantly dies like a knock off one
as someone who rocked fat batteries in a 2000 back in the day, the only problem is putting it in a case :P A little disappointed that after all these years we don't have any higher capacity batteries in the same 2 form factors.
After seeing this video (and wow, many thanks my good man) and after purchasing a falsely advertised PSP battery I now know what batteries can actually work for my PSP 3000. I also found out that a PSP 1000 battery can actually work for a 2000 and 3000 model. So, I was wondering before I buy the OSTENT phat 1000 battery and place it in my 3000 model. Where would buy a good battery cover or what should I do to cover the battery? Since it is clearly bulkier than the cover can handle.
If the photos are correct on this one, then this is one listing, they are hard to find when you search for them directly: s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DDoDuB9 s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DeElux5 amzn.to/3XnbcJZ I would use the photos as reference and check in your local market
Loved the video, thanks for compiling that crazy amount of data. I wonder what the effective difference between battery boards is, if one is more efficient or accurate over the others
only problem is, the ostent battery 2000mah decreased half its life over the cousre of a year of not using the console. maximum reported battery level in psp everest shows us 1790mah, when it should be 2000mah
Great video!! I'm gonna buy the ostent batteries for my 1000 and 2000 models. I have the original ones for both of them but i'm going to maintain the 1000 model as long as i can just for use for unbricking tools. I've only done tests using the 1000 model battery on the 2000 model before and it was a great difference in time. Another thing i noticed is that probably the pcb on the original ones has the components used for the pandora battery. I can be wrong for lots of reasons because there are pandora kits available and i don't think that they are all made from original battery pcb's.
I used to have one of those fancy Pandoras with a button and LED battery indicator, too bad I no longer have it. Its been a long time, cant recall what they used inside, but it was definitely a custom pcb
24:36 Could you find the largest cell phone battery that can fit across the UMD disc + battery compartment and make a mod out of it. There's some on youtube but no guide/commentary or reviews on them.
like its easy to buy a good battery, and solder it to board. we can also do not use the cover of it so i will take less space, with some heat but its ok
the 2.200 mAh Ostent is unfortunately too big for the psp 2000 and 3000 models. That's why I get the 1.400 mAh for my 3000 model but it's still pretty good
Is there a plan for similar video for the 3DS batteries? There have been reports of swelling even inside sealed systems, random manufacturers produced low quality batteries and on top of that every 3DS model has a different battery which is extremely frustrating.
Thanks for shoveling all that manure. Seriously finding good PSP batteries has been a straight up nightmare at times. Do you have any GBA SP and or DS systems? The battery selection is massive and finding a solid quality choice is again a bit wibbly wobbly to put it mildly.
Those HSBAT ones + 2 of the generic fake 3.6v ones i spent $100 on, total waste of money, but it had to be done lol I do have at least 1 of every DS variant. The batteries on those are insane, they can be left uncharged for years and power on like its nothing. Once im done with the PSP stuff I can start diving into other consoles.
@@TotalKommando yep Great batteries on Ds and gba sp. After close to 20 years I had a sp battery stop charging. Of course swollen. My spare battery is working but is over 15 years old so I have started hunting and it is a bit overwhelming.
@@brianwalker7771 I think the last time I had a spicy boi, I somehow managed to order an original used one which has been holding up very well like literally every other ds I have, charge once and can power on with plenty of juice a year later of just sitting
I hear you polar opposite of the PSP batteries. Sit for a year and still power up vs drained in under a week. I don't know what sorcery Nintendo used but one battery croaking on me in a 20 year period is amazing.
@@brianwalker7771 Here is whats surprising, the Vitas share similar powers. One time I left my vita in storage, thought I had shut it down, also about a year later, i came to long press power on and notice it turned out, and it resumed me back into what ever game was running LOL
I didn't know the PSP 3000 had a further power efficiency improvement over the PSP 2000. It was obvious the PSP 2000 had it over the PSP 1000 because otherwise the battery life would be worse due to the smaller battery.
Thanks for the amazing and time consuming tests. About the Cameron Sino batteries. Apprently there are some bootlegs on the market according to many internet on the internet which could be the reason why one battery outperformed the other ones. Where did you buy yours from?
I found a battery pretending to be a balloon. Not even sure I could snap it in place without some crackle. Probably not replacing it now, but want to know what I'm getting into.
Take your time with it, find the right tool, its bound to cracking the original shell, rarely you can keep it mint enough when opening to close it back up later At least remove the spicy pillow when you can incase its still got charge enough to cause a fire
Amazing videos! I have a question, when you showed the fat battery the listed psp’s were 1000,2000,3000. Does that mean that every psp is fat battery compatible?
Correct, you can use these on slims as well, you can get extended battery covers to fit, and use it on the MH 3000 edition psp which already has fatter grips
Thank you! I just recently got a video of yours in my recommendations and the psp nostalgia hit me so hard that I ordered a mint green 2000 from japan. Cant wait for the tinkering to begin.
Yea really wanna do it, hoping for a new revision. But recently I read he took a pause so cant buy it at this time. Will get into it once I'm done with the current series of videos.

Man, I've been waiting for this video since you put the survey on the channel, I felt bad about the batteries sacrificed for the investigation especially because in my country they are difficult to get (some cannot be shipped or the shipping costs are too high). I loved the video, excellent work
This is titanic work! Respect for all tests. I think nobody els in world psp comunity don't do even 1/10 of this work what you do.
I asked myself why many times throughout especially when I finally calculated how much it cost & the time it took.
Why am I doing this for a 20 year old piece of tech? lol
Thank you so much for all the effort you put into this. There are few people passionate enough to do this level of in-septh testing.
The PSP GO battery situation is something that needs its own video, cant find any quality ones.
1:18 dude that bronze psp looks sexy af.

: )
@@TotalKommando thank you good sir. 💛 Ps you're a chad for doing this much research.
This is what I've been waiting for :D
I have a similar experience, but I tested the batteries differently.
100% could use a sand bucket lol
Wow~~~ this is insane amount of testing!!! thank you so much man!@! this is the most complete PSP battery test I have ever seen. you are the man!!!
love this video and the timing of it since i planned to mod my now 14 year old PSP that is just being dusty. Very well done mate
many tanks
Id love to see a big battery upgrade for the psp street, your ips and glass lens tutorial is a god send and i cannot wait to work on my psp street
amazingly done!!!! you are so articulate and this was so perfectly edited!! captivating all throughout.
Makes me happy people appreciate the work : )
Found my new favorite channel, PSP never dies!
This channel has the BEST psp content despite being so small
Bro, you are doing gods work here by testing all these batteries! Just bought two Ostents right after watching this, one for my 1000 and another for my 3000. They will be replacing my old original Sony batteries which, due to age alone, have constantly made me nervous of the inevitable day they would get "spicy" as you call it lol. I don't want any batteries expanding or exploding inside my PSP's. Any other PSP I get from here on out will be equipped with a Ostent.
Does the 2200mah fit in the 3000?
@@KayraSirin-gw9gm With a special battery cover I think. The stock cover is not big enough to install a battery that big on a 3000.
@@SkyScourgeGod thank you very much
Holy Crap you are doing amazing work here.
@@IM0001 Ill add that to the list of things to test : )
Thank you for doing this!
The best battery to power that Nyan Cat ass rainbow propulsion engine!
@@TotalKommando Well you definitely have enough batteries to make that happen lol
@@IPlayToBag lol
Been waiting for this video since you mentioned it. Amazing information as always!
Wasn't expecting this on my feed today but I'll take it
lol
Thank you so much for this video! It's an immense help for us who want to keep this tech alive :)
Thank you for doing a thorough test bro! Looking forward to your next video.
bought OSTENT after watching this vid and it finally came in post. its banging yo, compared to noname fake one for 3 bucks its like ten times the battery life. plus it doesn't lie to me that its charged and then instantly dies like a knock off one
Lets Goooo, having a proper battery makes any device feel proper again like it was just released
dude this video needs a part 2 with umd battery mods
That's the plan
as someone who rocked fat batteries in a 2000 back in the day, the only problem is putting it in a case :P A little disappointed that after all these years we don't have any higher capacity batteries in the same 2 form factors.
Thanks for doing God's work
Amazing video, ostent should be getting amazing sales right now haha
LOL thats if the video doesnt get tanked by youtube which it already has : |
After seeing this video (and wow, many thanks my good man) and after purchasing a falsely advertised PSP battery I now know what batteries can actually work for my PSP 3000.
If the photos are correct on this one, then this is one listing, they are hard to find when you search for them directly:

I would use the photos as reference and check in your local market
Happy about this because I just got 2 Ostent batteries through Amazon
Great job! Thank you so much! Question about psp batteries is closed .
Excellent review of the PSP batteries in the market.
6 seconds in the video: god dammit i must like and subscribe (and comment) just for the effort. thanks!
: )
Loved the video, thanks for compiling that crazy amount of data. I wonder what the effective difference between battery boards is, if one is more efficient or accurate over the others
Thats exactly what I would be doing in my custom battery modding video, figure out what are the best boards to use.
@@TotalKommando Can't wait to see it, thanks for all your hard work
@@delita2663 Thank you for the support : )
You're a true hero
only problem is, the ostent battery 2000mah decreased half its life over the cousre of a year of not using the console. maximum reported battery level in psp everest shows us 1790mah, when it should be 2000mah
This is amazing, thank you so much!!!
This was impressive !! good job !

Could you find the largest cell phone battery that can fit across the UMD disc + battery compartment and make a mod out of it. There's some on youtube but no guide/commentary or reviews on them.
That's the plan but I also intend on figuring out an easy hot swap method
It would be interesting to see the black PCB with the Ostent cell, as they seem to be the better components of the bunch
Same
like its easy to buy a good battery, and solder it to board. we can also do not use the cover of it so i will take less space, with some heat but its ok
Amazing video, thanks for the great work!
excellent video bro. i know youre a PSP guy, but id love to see the same again for Vita.
Once I am done with the bulk of PSP projects, right after that are going to be the vitas!
@@TotalKommando no way!!!? Doing the lord's work! 💪💪💪
cool this psp battery very nice video
Please do 3DS Variants and its best replacement with bigger capacity.
Absolutly awesome job, thank you
the 2.200 mAh Ostent is unfortunately too big for the psp 2000 and 3000 models. That's why I get the 1.400 mAh for my 3000 model but it's still pretty good
Not if you install / use a monster hunter 3000 shell : )
or with an extended battery door
Is there a plan for similar video for the 3DS batteries? There have been reports of swelling even inside sealed systems, random manufacturers produced low quality batteries and on top of that every 3DS model has a different battery which is extremely frustrating.
At some point yes
Thank you dude!! i always wanted a video like this , do u have any about third party xbox 360 controller or ps3 to see which one is best??
Thanks for shoveling all that manure. Seriously finding good PSP batteries has been a straight up nightmare at times. Do you have any GBA SP and or DS systems? The battery selection is massive and finding a solid quality choice is again a bit wibbly wobbly to put it mildly.
Those HSBAT ones + 2 of the generic fake 3.6v ones i spent $100 on, total waste of money, but it had to be done lol
I do have at least 1 of every DS variant.
Thanks for the massive undertaking. Can the Ostent batteries be converted to Pandora or Auto-boot batteries?
Nope
You are best, amazing video thanks!!!
Thanks for the amazing and time consuming tests. About the Cameron Sino batteries. Apprently there are some bootlegs on the market according to many internet on the internet which could be the reason why one battery outperformed the other ones. Where did you buy yours from?
All 3 x 2 batches of Cameron Sinos came from the same Amazon US seller, perhaps the seller doesnt know?
Thank you so much for this!!
👌🏼 perfect, thank you !
I found a battery pretending to be a balloon. Not even sure I could snap it in place without some crackle.
Probably not replacing it now, but want to know what I'm getting into.
Take your time with it, find the right tool, its bound to cracking the original shell, rarely you can keep it mint enough when opening to close it back up later
At least remove the spicy pillow when you can incase its still got charge enough to cause a fire
I got a psp off eBay last week and the battery sucked bad but I ordered a Cameron sino and it’s alright
@@Erik-xu5on its going to be epic, the portability factor is incredible
You should do a video on the pspi 👀
Yea really wanna do it, hoping for a new revision. But recently I read he took a pause so cant buy it at this time.
Will get into it once I'm done with the current series of videos.
Absolute legend!
You didn't talk about the black ostent batteries though. I don't know if they're fake or what
