Post Notes:
- All 6 of my Cameron Sino batteries were purchased off Amazon US from the same seller
- OSTENT out of the box will have an extremely tight fit, just make sure its lined up, and give it a good hard press to pop them in
- 20:47 is where you will find the answer to something no one thought to ask, and it's massive discovery that deserves a bit more research!
- I didn't talk about pricing as most of these hover around the same price
- BMS Images will be edited & uploaded once I get some sleep.
- According to one other person's 1800 Cameron Sino, the "Good" black PCB one might be the one advertised for the phat models only
- End Screen Fail

this question is like ten years old. bless you for answering it
The funny thing is that some of the replacement batteries out there could easily be 10 years old, as in new old stock
You're an absolute legend to go through all this data. Please get enough sleep. Nothing is as important as your health.
I got 3 hours of sleep lmao
@@TotalKommando your the back bone of the psp community sir appreciate your hard work for us
My 12 year old Original battery that came with my 3000 is still perfect. I have been using my PSP on a daily basis since 2012 and haven't had any problems. Sony engineering is just amazing.
I find that hard to believe….
Wow Man! The effort you put into this whole video, the editing, the research, the money.... seriously no words to thank you, this is a video I didn't know I needed to see as a psp enthusiast. I've dabbled in a lot of fake original batteries and just made my peace with getting 1-2 hrs battery life with sudden shutdowns. now i see that is not the case, the ostent's sounds so amazing, 5 hrs with the psp 3k seemed unimaginable in this era.
Thank you again for doing all this and keeping us updated and informed. I can see these videos take a toll on you because you do them with perfection and that takes a lot of time, effort and money... just gonna say that we the psp community really do appreciate it!
Thank you for the kind feed back : )
I finally just got a psp and no battery was included. This video was honestly like god saw my troubles. I CANT BELIEVE IT
i got you lol
@@TotalKommando😂
I don't know how you do it, but I was literally thinking about psp batteries earlier today. Thanks for doing the testing!
U gave me a addiction I have 6 psps rn and 2 more arrive tomorrow so 8 total ig. I’m fully modding all of them with all the mods you've showed and I’m gonna try installing an ips screen mod and clear faceplate on a 1000 tomorrow. I already set the glass lens to cure in the faceplate so hopefully everything goes smoothly tomorrow. These videos hella entertaining
This is what I live for, other people's addiction to a 20 year old handheld lol
Total Kommando
You're a Gentleman & a Scholar
Thank You
No, Thank You : )
Can you believe bro that just these days I'm starting to get these consoles for collection?… And your video fits me perfectly. 🤩 I know there probably aren't many of us, but a video of you showing how to replace the batteries on the street version would be great. 😃
I plan to have a disassembly + reassembly series of videos but I need to get through the bulk of Project Smokey series of mods first xd
Its not hard to remove, its just annoying, there should be plenty of videos but i got non right now for that : |
youre genuinely a godsend for psp owners and potential buyers man
i had thought im so lucky to have my almost 20 years old original 1000 battery still holding for 4 hours as i thought chinese batteries are garbage until i watched your video. thank you man, now i know that there is still something that will be even a better replacement of my battery and i dont have to worry about saving it
Finally someone made a video about the psp batterys options. Thank you for that!
I just recently got into PSP modding and your LCD IPS upgrade video helped me so much when I tried installing one myself. Thank you so much for everything you do!
: )
Thank you so much for all the effort you put into this. There are few people passionate enough to do this level of in-septh testing.
Yes I am using both Ostent 1400 mAh and 2200 mAh in my PSPs and they are the best
amazingly done!!!! you are so articulate and this was so perfectly edited!! captivating all throughout.
Makes me happy people appreciate the work : )
This is amazing, this problem was in back of my mind for so long. I was very hesitant getting back into actual PSP console because of battery issues.
Thank you for doing this!
thanx a lot for the comparison!
i found the cellonic batterys ( in europe)
to be okay so far, even though they re slightly larger then the orignals ( psp 1000).
(tight fit)
love what you do, i appreciate the effort u put in
Thank you for doing a thorough test bro! Looking forward to your next video.
Been waiting for this video since you mentioned it. Amazing information as always!
Wow~~~ this is insane amount of testing!!! thank you so much man!@! this is the most complete PSP battery test I have ever seen. you are the man!!!
This was impressive !! good job !
Absolutly awesome job, thank you
Damn dude’s doing God’s work lol Even gives the answer quickly at the beginning. Nobody does that on YT because they want to get people to watch longer. I watch the whole video just cause of that. Awesome work!
Thanks Fam
Awesome video, I tried a similar test myself but could only get through 3 batteries before I gave up. Glad to see the OSTENT I picked up is good quality, mine has been running strong
I’m sure you have a good idea but, this is insanely useful literally no one has made a video for this to this extent!!
Thank you, I'm just hoping that it gets the views it deserves, the power efficiency info is something I'm answering for the first time on the internet.
Found my new favorite channel, PSP never dies!
Dude, you are definitely my hero.
I was going to buy the Sabat brand, so I bought the Ostent one.
love this video and the timing of it since i planned to mod my now 14 year old PSP that is just being dusty. Very well done mate
many tanks
Man, I've been waiting for this video since you put the survey on the channel, I felt bad about the batteries sacrificed for the investigation especially because in my country they are difficult to get (some cannot be shipped or the shipping costs are too high). I loved the video, excellent work
Thanks a lot for your work. Was thinking about re-celling my original PSP phat battery. I will just buy an Ostent then (along with an the mat IPS screen you recommended in your other video). Suscribed!
Epic xD
Thank you so much for this video! It's an immense help for us who want to keep this tech alive :)
Bro, you are doing gods work here by testing all these batteries! Just bought two Ostents right after watching this, one for my 1000 and another for my 3000. They will be replacing my old original Sony batteries which, due to age alone, have constantly made me nervous of the inevitable day they would get "spicy" as you call it lol. I don't want any batteries expanding or exploding inside my PSP's. Any other PSP I get from here on out will be equipped with a Ostent.
Amazing video, thanks for the great work!
Great video! It took me until just now to say "yeah I'm interested, I'll watch it" instead of passing it over; that does tend to happen where you're just not quite interested in a specific video you're seeing quite yet (even if the subject matter does generally interest you) and then you're in the mood later. I love the extremely comprehensive, almost obsessive videos that get way into the nitty-gritty details of everything; I'm all for that stuff. Love having this big database of battery information here.
I definitely will want to look into the PSP-1000 size battery + an expanded battery cover fitting the 3000. Also good to see those external PSP battery chargers -- it absolutely sucks to use the original charger on my PSP because it doesn't work half the time (bad connector on the charger itself) and nothing uses the mini-USB on top of the PSP anymore. Charging with USB Mode is slow, but at the same time I don't want to use the OEM AC adapter because A: mine is bad, and B: we've really moved on from proprietary charging at this point as a society.
It appears since I bought my PSP-3000 new in box really late, like in 2012-2014 or so, I have the exact same TA-095v2 as you (but Piano Black), and I've never really been disappointed in the battery life of mine with the stock battery. The relative newness of my battery and it being the most power-efficient PSP-3000 model is probably why. Plus if I'm not going to use it for a while, I try to charge to a bit over 80% before storing it outside of the console, which is usually what's recommended for storage and it doesn't tend to be dead when I next intend to use my PSP.
I feel you with that first one lol
I got a solderless type-c mod that shows you how to get a perfect cut out, and can be adapted for a soldered method.
This is titanic work! Respect for all tests. I think nobody els in world psp comunity don't do even 1/10 of this work what you do.
I asked myself why many times throughout especially when I finally calculated how much it cost & the time it took.
Why am I doing this for a 20 year old piece of tech? lol
Id love to see a big battery upgrade for the psp street, your ips and glass lens tutorial is a god send and i cannot wait to work on my psp street
Insane amount of work went into making this video, I can tell. Man, I've been buying onsent as it just felt better/more consistent than CameronSino and here now I have the data to back it up.
You're a true hero
Excellent review of the PSP batteries in the market.
It's cool to know that the new screens are actually more power efficient, despite the common misconception in the community.
Makes the choice of switching over a no-brainer.
Now we wait for the new panels for the 2000 and 3000 models (and maybe the GO, but I think it has the perfect screen as it is).
I agree, the GO is probably as good as its ever going to get, and the screen form factor makes it harder to develop a custom screen for.
One day man, we can just hope to get an OLED for n a slim, that will be something
This channel has the BEST psp content despite being so small
And upon your recommendation, I purchased a battery using your link. You deserve much more than whatever kickback they give you after all this work you put into the video.
Thank you : )
Yea it will take a while before it breaks even but Im on a mission and going to do what ever it takes to cover all the basics + more
Wasn't expecting this on my feed today but I'll take it
lol
Amazing video, ostent should be getting amazing sales right now haha
LOL thats if the video doesnt get tanked by youtube which it already has : |
So glad I stumbled across this video, now I can get some actually good batteries. Also in the future, if a battery gets punctured and catches on fire/explodes, you want a bucket or pot of sand, its the best and safest way to contain a small battery fire.
100% could use a sand bucket lol
Thank you so much for this!!
cool this psp battery very nice video
You are best, amazing video thanks!!!
Absolute legend!
👌🏼 perfect, thank you !
The best battery to power that Nyan Cat ass rainbow propulsion engine!
This is what I've been waiting for :D
I have a similar experience, but I tested the batteries differently. First I discharged to the end, then while charging I read the current drawn, taking into account charging losses/efficiency. Scam of course I returned, especially since I order a minimum of 10 each :)
1:18 dude that bronze psp looks sexy af.

@@TotalKommando thank you good sir. 💛 Ps you're a chad for doing this much research.
Holy Crap you are doing amazing work here. I got a reasonably good battery off Amazon that seemed to have good reviews about a year ago, however it is now out of stock and not sold anywhere I can find anymore. The one thing I wish is someone would clone the PCB of the OG batteries as the other issue that's annoying when tinkering with the PSP is you cannot charge any of the replacement batteries over USB.
Im pretty sure you can charge third party using the mini usb, do you have the feature enabled?
Perhaps its time for a solderless type-c port: czcams.com/video/XVT2RHyB1Do/video.html
@@TotalKommando With the 3rd party batteries, they all "look" like they are charging, but if you go a while you can see the battery never increases in charge. If there is one that does work normally with it that would be a nice perk of the find. Though I agree swapping the Mini USB for Type-C would be a nice upgrade.
@@IM0001 Ill add that to the list of things to test : )
this is awesome! I hope you could make a psvita battery showdown some day
100% have plans for that once im done with the majority of the psp stuff
Thank you so much for such thorough research! This topic was never getting enough coverage.
Now I wonder when/if the situation with the Vita batteries is going to change and how it's going to look like when it will, as now the only third-party batteries available seem to be simply relabeled OEM Vita batteries.
Edit: Ahh, third-party PSP Go batteries is still a mystery...
The PSP GO battery situation is something that needs its own video, cant find any quality ones.
as someone who rocked fat batteries in a 2000 back in the day, the only problem is putting it in a case :P A little disappointed that after all these years we don't have any higher capacity batteries in the same 2 form factors.
Thank you dude!! i always wanted a video like this , do u have any about third party xbox 360 controller or ps3 to see which one is best??
I ripped the case on my psp 2004's battery pack and placed a 3.7 v regular 18650 LI-ION wired to the original PCB. Works better than any of those. Glued a casing for it on the back of the psp and boom, 4 hours in game or more and that with an old battery that was sitting around for 2+ years, no name also.
Happy about this because I just got 2 Ostent batteries through Amazon
Thanks for doing God's work
Loved the video, thanks for compiling that crazy amount of data. I wonder what the effective difference between battery boards is, if one is more efficient or accurate over the others
Thats exactly what I would be doing in my custom battery modding video, figure out what are the best boards to use.
@@TotalKommando Can't wait to see it, thanks for all your hard work
@@delita2663 Thank you for the support : )
Im so interested in this psp series now. i have a psp 1000 and a broken psp 3000 and now im just waiting to see if there will be an ips upgrade for the 3000 model then ill try to fix it up. these vids are awesome
There are 3000 display replacements that I have found to work better than the originals, better brightness and color, no yellowing since its new, and I found the interlacing to be minimal, but they are pretty fragile : |
@@TotalKommandoDo you have a link to those displays? I would like to know what the best 3000 replacement would be
Here are 2 links, again remember these can be fragile and sometimes can be defective
Preferred Option 1: s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DBlRMZN
Secondary Option 2: s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DC8wG7Z
I would suggest sticking with option 1
excellent video bro. i know youre a PSP guy, but id love to see the same again for Vita.
Once I am done with the bulk of PSP projects, right after that are going to be the vitas!
@@TotalKommando no way!!!? Doing the lord's work! 💪💪💪
Great video!! I'm gonna buy the ostent batteries for my 1000 and 2000 models. I have the original ones for both of them but i'm going to maintain the 1000 model as long as i can just for use for unbricking tools.
I've only done tests using the 1000 model battery on the 2000 model before and it was a great difference in time.
Another thing i noticed is that probably the pcb on the original ones has the components used for the pandora battery. I can be wrong for lots of reasons because there are pandora kits available and i don't think that they are all made from original battery pcb's.
I used to have one of those fancy Pandoras with a button and LED battery indicator, too bad I no longer have it. Its been a long time, cant recall what they used inside, but it was definitely a custom pcb
Just subbed for this...
I noticed when you open the battery packs, that there is a lot of unused space with the padding in them that fills the void. If you took a good battery board and two of the best cells and connected them in parrel with each other, you could effectively create a bigger battery then the original Sony batteries and fit it within the battery casing. I'll try this out based on what you showed us here and post the results when I get it done.
Yea it's definitely possible but most of those padded ones are padded because they are running low capacity cells, one idea i had for a while for easy battery sourcing & a somewhat reversable mod is to get multiple good quality slim batteries and run them in parallel in the battery compartment & umd area with small holes for wires running through the walls
@@TotalKommando Well you definitely have enough batteries to make that happen lol
@@IPlayToBag lol
Thank you sir
24:36
Could you find the largest cell phone battery that can fit across the UMD disc + battery compartment and make a mod out of it. There's some on youtube but no guide/commentary or reviews on them.
That's the plan but I also intend on figuring out an easy hot swap method
Nice Video
It would be interesting to see the black PCB with the Ostent cell, as they seem to be the better components of the bunch
Same
I didn't know the PSP 3000 had a further power efficiency improvement over the PSP 2000. It was obvious the PSP 2000 had it over the PSP 1000 because otherwise the battery life would be worse due to the smaller battery.
I have a question, where can I get the battery cover for a model 3000? It is to be able to use the 2200 model of Ostent batteries.
You can find them on AliExpress
www.aliexpress.com/item/2251832648160402.html
Hey sorry still a little confused and I've bookmarked the wrong battery, just about to purchase today, what battery is best for psp 3000, idk if I missed it, but I'm worried the obsent battery 2200 phat won't fit
2200 ostent for 1000 model or 3000 monster hunter edition
1400 ostent for 2000/3000
dude this video needs a part 2 with umd battery mods
That's the plan
What video are you talking about at 3:32?
MVG PSP Video lol
Apparently there was a flood of people buying them and finding out they are bad
What about the 4800 mah and 5000 mah new batteries for the psp 3000 and 2000 on Amazon? Whats your take on those? I ordered the 4800 mah one(17.28WH). The reviews on the 5000 mah one were pretty sus, people saying it’s actually worse than the stock battery.
90% of the ones that go over 1200mah are sus, avoid them at all cost
Your an absolute legend, can u do a video for the Nintendo 3ds?
Thank you, once Im done with the PSP stuff I intend to explore other consoles, I do have one of each ds model
@@TotalKommando If u do the test for the most popular version: New 3DS XL i would be so happy
@@3DsRenew I got one of those : )
Please do 3DS Variants and its best replacement with bigger capacity.
Looking up Ostents just in case I need a new battery.
Thanks for the amazing and time consuming tests. About the Cameron Sino batteries. Apprently there are some bootlegs on the market according to many internet on the internet which could be the reason why one battery outperformed the other ones. Where did you buy yours from?
All 3 x 2 batches of Cameron Sinos came from the same Amazon US seller, perhaps the seller doesnt know?
hey my psp battery just died today :( is the ostent 3.6V 1400mAh compatible with a full stock psp 3004?
Yep, these batteries dont require any custom firmware or anything
Many thanks for the depth!!! I got a 2200mAh Ostent for the PSP 1000, but the cover is noticeably sticking out, is there a fix for this or aftermarket extended cover, I see they are more common for the 2000/3000. I am trying to avoid forcefully closing the cover to prevent damage. Cheers mate!!
The battery can be pushed in a bit further with a hard press to the top of the connector,, just a bit of a force to squeeze it in further to clear those few millimeters.
Let me know how it goes : )
After a few times they should just sit in without having to do any extra extra force
@@TotalKommandoThat actually worked!! thanks! the door closed clean, it is slightly lifted but it’s not a bother. Out of interest does the 1800mAh Ostent battery a tad thinner and a more natural fit; and do you rate it highly? there are a lot of Amazon reviewers complaining about the battery door but I’d have though it’s the better fit, Cheers
From what i know their smaller capacity batteries are not great and to be avoided
I wish to buy an Ostent battery for my PSP. Where do you reccomend I get it?
Links in description : )
I got a psp off eBay last week and the battery sucked bad but I ordered a Cameron sino and it’s alright
Thanks for shoveling all that manure. Seriously finding good PSP batteries has been a straight up nightmare at times. Do you have any GBA SP and or DS systems? The battery selection is massive and finding a solid quality choice is again a bit wibbly wobbly to put it mildly.
Those HSBAT ones + 2 of the generic fake 3.6v ones i spent $100 on, total waste of money, but it had to be done lol
I do have at least 1 of every DS variant. The batteries on those are insane, they can be left uncharged for years and power on like its nothing.
Once im done with the PSP stuff I can start diving into other consoles.
@@TotalKommando yep Great batteries on Ds and gba sp. After close to 20 years I had a sp battery stop charging. Of course swollen. My spare battery is working but is over 15 years old so I have started hunting and it is a bit overwhelming.
@@brianwalker7771 I think the last time I had a spicy boi, I somehow managed to order an original used one which has been holding up very well like literally every other ds I have, charge once and can power on with plenty of juice a year later of just sitting
I hear you polar opposite of the PSP batteries. Sit for a year and still power up vs drained in under a week. I don't know what sorcery Nintendo used but one battery croaking on me in a 20 year period is amazing.
@@brianwalker7771 Here is whats surprising, the Vitas share similar powers. One time I left my vita in storage, thought I had shut it down, also about a year later, i came to long press power on and notice it turned out, and it resumed me back into what ever game was running LOL
Have you heard of the datel 3600 mah battery from back in the day?
I got those on hand for a future video : )
I got some ideas for both the CF reader and seeing if we can revive the battery and rip apart its PCB and see what its made of
@@TotalKommandothey can become pandora battery’s btw.
@@pocketreviewgaming That is some epic news, I did not know
I don’t see the psp rechargeable battery pack in the description?
Do you mean the charging dock? If so, I have just added those, sorry mid night upload.
You should do a video on the pspi 👀
Yea really wanna do it, hoping for a new revision. But recently I read he took a pause so cant buy it at this time.
Will get into it once I'm done with the current series of videos.
Now the only thing that i want to see is the original psp battery pcb on the Ostent 2200 mah. This Would get more efficiently?
I left that for the Custom Battery Mod Video : )
Will be doing exactly that as a baseline, using the ostent with different BMS PCBs
@@TotalKommando Dude that will be perfect!
I appreciate your hard work and efforts. Thank you very much where can I buy the ostent one?
Thank you, links are in the description
@@TotalKommando thanks and why is the red psp 3000 so powerful?
@@mentes1679 Its most likely because its the latest revision of 95v2 you can check what you have using a homebrew app called pspident, I will be testing this more with other 95v2 units for the next battery video to confirm
What do you think about ostent external battery pack
I wouldn't waste my time with those if I were you.
Extra Bulk, cable coming out from the bottom, and inefficient, because its converting the power from 3.7v to 5v and then the psp from 5v back to 3.7v so that 2400 wont anywhere close to the original capacity after all that power loss, best to put that money into another standard ostent battery, Its basically a mini powerbank packpack for your psp
I found a battery pretending to be a balloon. Not even sure I could snap it in place without some crackle.
Probably not replacing it now, but want to know what I'm getting into.
Take your time with it, find the right tool, its bound to cracking the original shell, rarely you can keep it mint enough when opening to close it back up later
At least remove the spicy pillow when you can incase its still got charge enough to cause a fire
the 2.200 mAh Ostent is unfortunately too big for the psp 2000 and 3000 models. That's why I get the 1.400 mAh for my 3000 model but it's still pretty good
Not if you install / use a monster hunter 3000 shell : )
or with an extended battery door
Hi, i wanted to talk about my ostent battery. Like 2 weeks ago i have a psp 3010 that blocks the battery. Before that the battery works just fine in my 2000 model, but when i plug the battery it doesn’t work anymore. The seller say me that is "blocked" they send me another one for free, but i dont know if i can rescue that battery. Tanks for reading me 😊😊
Never heard of "Blocked" maybe join the discord and we could possibly figure out whats going on. I think it may have faulty contact pins lol
So I am a noob and I don't know much about this.
But I opened my Psp today and saw my battery being bloated. Now I want a new battery but don't understand all those numbers. I have an original 3.6 1200MAH for the 3400 model now. But I see mostly batteries online with 1400 MAH. Will that destroy my PSP? I guess I need exactly 1200 for it right?
All these batteries will run at the same specs, the only difference is the bigger battery the real capacity is, the bigger the battery will be physically.
If you got a slim psp with a 1200mah battery, the max you can go with a legit claim battery is 1400mAh from Ostent. You can use the 2200mAh but your battery door wont close, it will not damage your psp or anything, it will just last longer.
@@TotalKommando thanks for the answer. So I don't per se need the Sony ones as they are kinda hard to find 😅 as for the charger I am not sure if I have an original one does that matter or doesn't it?
@@funsickus Nope, sony ones are all old now and perform worse than new ostent 1400mah ones, as for the charger it doesnt matter as long as long as the port fits and the adapter is 5v. You can buy a usb psp charger that you can then connect to a phone charger or power bank
@@TotalKommando thank you for the info. I already have a USB charger so I guess I'm fine.
