Canadian born and raised. If you have room mates, you can survive on the minimum wage in Canada. Also, if you have good work ethic, DO NOT SETTLE FOR LESS THAN $16. I live in fort st john bc, I work in natural gas energy, I make 23.50/hour, I work 60 hours a week and take home roughly $6000/month, I live in a 3 bedroom rental that costs me 1600/month and I'm on 53 private acres of land, 15 minute drive from Walmart out in the country. Also, I drive a beater minivan and my insurance is $56/month, but I also have a 55% discount and my vehicle is not insured if the accident is my fault. If you live in a town with more than 100,000 people, you can safely rely on transit.
Bucks an hour. I got that 4 years of being in Canada. Roommates are great if you're very young but it's just chaos and nightmare if you're older.
Why are you making so less if you're a Canadian born. You should be making 45
Where are u from.. ❓
You skipped taxes ie you quoted pre tax income.
That is insanely crazzy level of calculations...really detailed...
Wonderful job indeed. Thanks for all the break-up of income & expenses but I would have appreciated more had you encouraged new arrivals to be conservative, at least during their studies. After all, Canadian govt has fixed per month GIC @ 667/- after due deliberations. So students should restrict their budget to the monthly GIC release and should clear off their debt whatsoever, if any, by their monthly income. They should develop saving habits and making investment, however small may be, at their early age to generate a good corpus. I may sound from an old school but believe me, it's easy to go extravagant but very difficult to curtail.
Thanks Sahil, i believe you missed to deduct the taxes from income and i saw a comment below related to property tax as well. Looking forward for comparison for in hand salary. Thanks again very informative.
Yayyy!!! I'm so happy to know that you DON'T have to pay income tax in Canada
Thank you so much for the detailed information 👍😎 Appreciate it a lot
You have put a lot of time and effort into this. Thank you
Thank you so much Sahil for your valuable inputs, this has definitely highlighted me to prepare for upcoming Canada move.
This may have been true when the video was made however, in 2021-2022 this is very hard. I aim paying $1800 rent in Ottawa for 2 bhk and I am struggling to keep my monthly expense le to $3600. I don’t even have a car. Inflation has skyrocketed and our lifestyle is very modest

Shouldn’t you subtract taxes from earnings? Without it, this seems incomplete.
True indeed.
Hello Sahil ji, thanks a ton for this quick ref sheet I kindly request you to provide us effective changes to this sheet as of today 12 June 2021. Thank you.
Thank you Sahil.Very informative stuff
Good video. What you are saying is one person working alone won't be able to pay all the expenses of a couple with a kid or 2
Nicely explained, thanks Sahil
Hi Sahil, hope you are doing good, If I may ask you this question of mine, while submitting express entry profile, the family members section say select the total number of family members and this doesnt mean all of the family members would accompany with primary applicant. But eligibility for express entry is said as not eligible, its only eligible when the 3 family members amount is updated. So my question is if I update 1 family member then would it create issue in future as my family will not be coming once NOI is received. They would come at later point in time.
Taxes ignored, altogether. And believe me thats a big big chunk.
Thank you Sahil
Great efforts, thank you so much sir...
Superfine!! Thanks sahil for clarifying everything about survival expenses.I am sure your explanation would have calmed anxiety of aspiring immigrants.

Hi Sahil, very very informative video. So this video was done almost a year ago. Do you think the living expenses remain the same. Maybe catering for a couple of dollars more. But basically do you think it is almost the same after a year. Thank you.

Hi. You meant we can buy a car there in installments per month e.i. 250 dollar to as per the model ? We don't need to give any down payment ?
I cannot stress this enough, do NOT accept minimum wage, minimum 16/hour in an entry level job like a store
This was so useful Sahil! I'm amazed at the effort you've taken for us. Can't thank you enough!!
I imagine that the student part is plainly applicable to a PR immigrant. :p (I'm bloody concerned about my survival)
I know Im randomly asking but does any of you know a tool to get back into an Instagram account?
I was dumb forgot my account password. I appreciate any tricks you can offer me
You better be...lived here 24 years. It's not a land off milkl and honey.. worked 3 jobs....taxes are high. ..
Hi Sahil it was nice to hear you good job very informative. I have a smal question if you could answer. My son applied for my PR in 2019 and medical was done in Dec 2019 however due to Corona it got stuck now the medical was done again in Jul 2021 so almost six months have passed and there is no progress. My status shows medical asked even though the medical was done six months back. I am in Canada on visitor visa. Can you advice me what to do. Thanks
Your calculations does not consider taxes being deducted from that earnings... or is it an after tax calculations

Hi i am in uk... lived in Missisauga and ottawa ..
Can you please give an approx idea as to what is the interest rate charged on a Personal Loan in Canada? After how many months or years spent there can we apply for it?
Just need an approx idea as I might need to apply for exams & licensing.
Your help will be highly appreciated.
So the amount on survival mode is before taxes right? Can anyone tell what are the tax slabs?
Great content Sahil. Thanks for sharing to us. Five star! 😊
Sahil sir I have one doubt that is which one is best consultancy for Canada in india and how much they charges .
Do we get furnished accommodation ? If so, is it the same rent that you have mentioned ? If not, then approximately how much is spent on furniture and appliances for a family of three ?
It is recommended that do not take furnished basements/apartments because if there is any sort of damage then you have to pay for it.It might cost you more than the actual price of the damaged article.
Hi Sahil. I just wanted to know being in India can I go through your agency for a TRV visa or I need to refer to an agency in my own country.
Hi Sahil,
Can u pls tell me what is the costing of converting visitor visa into work permit.
What about taxes on the earnings at $14/hour?
It would have been great if you could have mentioned only one person earning with 2 kids and adding child benefit.
I know of a single father family who was able to raise 3 kids with child benefit and now he owns a home
Sir please inform only visit visa and tour one month .
gas is cheap?! @13:19
Sahil i think you forgot to add the taxes
I am trying through y axis
GOOd❤
What about family wherein only one is earning and rest are dependent
What is a walker basement?
lavish life funy u said as u shoud u know the rent prize and how diifficult to get A house. there is no lvish life for majority of full time employee
Thank you for sharing the video.. If a person comes on students visa what are the maximum hours he can work. Can his spouse work ??
20.5% tax deduction not mentioned 😕
60 hrs a week means no life out of work
what about health insuarance and medical,?
What are expenses for clothing, eye wear, medical etc..what if i take my entire family like mom 2 kids and wife?
Where didn't you deduct the tax?
With that money you will be like a labour living in DUBAI. Terrible hand to mouth life.
