I went out for a quick overnight camping stealther in a public day-use park. Beautiful park that should really be a campground so people can fully enjoy it. Sadly it closes between 11pm and 6am, but that didn't stop me.
A few step 2's, a good meal, and a few laughs. Everything was pretty good!

It's oddly comforting to know that somewhere out in the woods. Steve is hunkering down

I happened to downvote many videos when I was drunk, so theres that. the rest may be ocd guys trying to round the numbers, vegans, jealous people, maybe homeless or formerly homeless people, people with bad days and people that think the attention he gets should be distributed to people that are in dire situations instead of detrimental para-social relationships.
Haters gonna hate. I posted a longer version of this an hour ago, but YT has removed it, along with my ability to comment. Now I can only respond to the comments of others.

So good, this is spot on!!
The car is definitely the biggest trick for overnighting in day use, in my experience. I stayed in a day use for over a month at one point, and the only problem was hiking in and out to leave my car on the road instead of the lot overnight. Barely 2 minutes off the trail, but no one came there (occasional roaming dog tho!). Always felt that was a remarkable metaphor for life in general... almost nobody leaves the marked path.
I spent a night in a day-use camping

I love how Steve is a Steward of nature and picks up any and all trash he sees. I like that ♡
I did my first stealth camp with a hammock this last weekend, awesome fire behind the root ball of a fallen tree, food and lots of step 2s and noone was the wiser. Tearing down hammock camp took 10 minutes and took a little other people’s trash out with mine.
Never really tried stealth camping myself. I remember as a teenager my Dad putting off finding a campground until well after dark in spite of Mom's warnings, then he pulled into a small roadside picnic area with a big "Absolutely NO Overnight Camping" sign! We had a car towing a small camper. He said, "I'll pull down back and no one will see us"! So over the curb and across the grass we went. In the middle of the night the whole camper lit up and started rocking. Mom and I ran for the door, He and my brother slept through it. Seems in the dark he parked right next to some railroad tracks! We left well before dawn.

weed and whiskey. One beer for end of hike. even a warm beer is alright when you finally get to take your shoes off and relax.
I'm going camping tomorrow with my cousin. Got a hip flask of whisky, 6 small cans of beers. 4 pre rolled joints and full bag of weed ready to go. That's how you do it lol

I love watching Steve’s videos. He’s just a regular guy camping. He keeps it simple, realistic, and affordable. Before I started watching his channel, I thought you needed some high dollar tent, sleeping bag, and all kinds of special gear. But he showed me you can go camping with regular gear and a couple step 2s
the step 2s are the only real requirement
It really depends on how your health is. My dad was a big outdoor person and he and I had some great adventures. But after he had to have back surgery he just really wasn't up for it. Also, how long are you camping for? I went on a two week long trip around the US NW staying in state park campgrounds and it worked great because we had decent equipment and a routine for setting up. I wouldn't want to do it at my current age.
I love the birdsong in these videos- just another thing to love about them. Thank you Steve!

Hello, Steve. I'm from Finland and to me it seems very strange and sad thing also, that You have to do this stealth camping there, have to be careful, that no one notices, that You are staying a night there, and to be worried about the car being towed away.
Here camping in forests is absolutely free, even in privately-owned ones. We have here by law so called "every man's rights" and camping is one of them. You can also pick berries and mushrooms freely. (not cultivated ones)
Of course You can't camp in someones backyard without permission, and collecting branches of firewood, cutting trees without permission, and setting a campfire without proper place for it is illegal. (There actually are lot of places made by municipality for campfire in popular areas, and there is sometimes free firewood also) Of course You are supposed to leave the place as it was, no trash left, etc.
Wow !! Finland sounds like such an amazing place. It is so sad that in Canada we cannot just camp in day areas. Even though we have millions of acres of crown and provincial land to camp on . . . maybe one day we can aspire to be more like Finland.
we have way to many nutcases here for that to work.
I'm gonna go way out on a limb and guess that you don't have land that people would want to camp on, I am glad I don't have to worry about nutters ruining my property. It is after all, mine.
@@futuremartillo agreed
@@futuremartillo I actually have land, and I'm quite happy with this finnish system. It doesn't allow idiots to ruin someone else's property. Read, what I actually told in the first message.

Steve; I don’t know if you’ll see this, but you have to remember the last time you were swinging... it was nighttime during the winter when snow was still on the ground (I think.) I remember I was cracking up laughing so hard, and here at 20:30 you caught me off guard again😂😂😂. I love it

What I found that worked for measuring in the skillet/pot like you used, is engrave some marks on the inside. taking a measuring cup and adding 1 cup of water marking a line it comes to. all the way up to 4 cups. Just a little Tip. I has a few camping skillet/pots I take with me. where I engraved marks on it for different cups even half cup marks on a couple of them.
That's a great idea!
The content has always been great, but I really have to compliment your editing and camera work in this one Steve. Thanks for the weekly moment of zen!
I love the stealth camping, makes me want to try it out. I did a lot of it back in the 70s, when I was a teenager and basically homeless. I never really saw it that way, though, Kansas City was my home. I stayed under a lot of low bushes and even a stand of willows right on Parallel Avenue in KC Kansas. I spent a whole Winter under a pontoon boat, parked in a field behind some houses at 76th Street and State Avenue, also on the Kansas side. It was a fairly busy Winter, lots of snow and cold windy weather and I was comfortable. The deck of the boat was concrete so I could have a fire, and I had lots of new carpet scraps so I had a dry floor and I hung up carpet at both ends of the boat under the deck. They pretty much closed off the ends and I stuffed whatever I could find between the deck and the pontoons along the sides, so I had a good, warm and nearly invisible shelter with very little wind and zero moisture. Being in a field, there was a lot of cover all around, I could even play my guitar without being heard. Best of all was that it was free. My brother, his wife and family lived down the street and I got showers and a few free meals there, but for the most part I was completely self-sufficient and on my own. The way I liked it back then.

It hangs in between,
two lessor swings,
