- On day 4 of our British Isles cruise we docked in Invergordon. We were only scheduled to be in port for half a day and we made the most of it by booking a gifted excursion with Ambassador to Urquhart Castle, Loch Ness and Inverness. Onboard Ambience we got to see the play, Abigail's Party in the Palladium Theatre. We visited the spa for a complimentary treatment and enjoyed a quiz in the Purple Turtle. Our evening meal was in the Buckingham Restaurant. We had a guest comedian onboard, Jimmy Cricket, and we watched his performance. We ended our night in the Observatory we a few cocktails.

Ambassador is Britains newest cruise line and we took the opportunity to sail with them in April 2023.Ambassador market themselves as Britain’s premium value no-fly cruise line who sail from 8 regional UK ports. Ambassador Ambience sailed around the British Isles and we were onboard for 11 nights. Ambassador Cruise Line currently has two ships in operation Ambience and Ambition.
We are Tom and Dom and we experienced our first cruise on the MSC Virtuosa during her UK staycation cruises in 2021. We are relatively new to cruising, however we can now say we are officially hooked.
Our mission is provide a fair and balanced review of our travels. We look at the types of food that is available onboard, from main dining rooms, room service, buffets and pool side snacks. We include menus for each of cruises so that we can share the selection of drinks and meals that are available. Entertainment onboard a cruise ship is important to us and we enjoy theatre production shows, live music, quizzes and game shows. We love to explore different ports and destinations and enjoy sharing tips and tricks so that you can make the most of each port. We often explore ports independently but also book excursions that are interesting to us.
We have created a list of our cruise essentials. These are items we take with us when we travel and we hope they may be useful to you. We have also added a Wine list which contains some of the wines we have tried whilst cruising.

I am really enjoying this series on board the Ambassader Ambiance, I am using it to try and convince my husband to go on the Tilbury to Singapore sail in January, the itinerary is amazing ( which he agrees is ) he isn’t convinced that there would be enough ( on such a small ship ) to keep us from getting bored on the many sea days and also the crossing from Portugal to the Caribbean, ( rough sea ) have you any positive notes to help me convince him it would be the trip of a lifetime 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I remain really impressed with what Ambassador seem to be putting out there. The entertainment seems so varied and interesting!

At his peak, the fans would get into a frenzy about him. YT Video - 'Jimmy Cricket: This Is Your Life'. His humor fell on the safe side of family fun at its time.
Don't fret, maybe Ambassador can convince Brendan O'Carroll to bring 'Mrs. Brown's Boys' to the sea to do a couple of mini sessions (for a slightly younger audience). 😃😄😄 Since his series was on BBC One, surely it must be considered family-friendly. 😉
Watched a few CZcams videos of Jimmy. He did the same jokes on Ambience as he did back then 🤣

Jimmy Cricket is from that time when a comedian would have their own catch phrase and individual gimmicks (like the wellies) dated as that may seem by today's standards I'm sure a lot of people remember him, he was very popular. I think he found fame on a talent show initially. Personally not my cuppa tea either (and I'm 58) but he's safe audience material I guess.
P.S. I'm sure you both really want a pair of those wellies now 😅

Can you get drinks from bar menu in the restaurant or just wine? Also, if you have a drink before dinner, can you brink that in to restaurant with you?
Yes you can to both. Dom ordered a beer from the bar menu. 🍷🍺

how did you video shows when I Believe the shows are copy write and no photos of any kind are allowed.
Hi thanks for your comment. While we were on no flash photography was allowed. we film short 5-10 second clips and never publish them with the original audio.
@@TomandDomTravel Thank you We are going on a Ambassador cruise for the first time soon and Ambassador told me no Photography was allowed at all in the shows. As a big part of my Cruise is taking still Photography at the shows (no flash) it was putting me off the cruise. My normal cruse company says no video and no flash photography. Thank you for your help.

I guess Jimmy Cricket keeps working because he's clean, and you can stick him in front of any audience and he won't do any offensive comedy.

Hi Tom & Don, do the majority of people dress up on formal nights? We have sailed on cruises recently where 50% of people don't appear to bother, which is a shame.
On Ambassador we found nearly all passengers were in formal wear. Which ship were you on?
@TomandDomTravel. Thanks for your response, and much appreciated. We sailed on MSC Virtuosa in June 23 and a very young ship where the majority were very casual. Later in the year, we went on P&O Ventura and a little more formal as an older clientele. We've just got off Iona last week, and apart from the official formal night, it was very casual. Even the formal nights a lot were dressed casually, and it seems to be the way cruising is going. Many thanks Jane
Are you too young for Ambassador? Absolutely not. Other than the very late night limited dining options and poor Dom having to assemble his own late night 'Doggie Bag" for your sea dog 'Jasper' (hiding in your cabin), iAmbassador seems to be scoring quite well. Tom is getting his soup needs/rations met and everyone seems happy. Ambassador for the win or is there a need to give Virgin a go? Do you fit the Virgin customer profile?
We agree Ambassador has something for everyone! We throughly enjoyed our time onboard! We would love to give Virgin a go, all down to the timings! 😀 We think we would really enjoy the Virgin experience!
