The boring character set up is also a huge problem in my opinion. FL always has to be bubbly and sweet (also having a powerful background) where the ML has to be cold and aloof (also having an important position somewhere in the heavenly realm)
Acually that only the first part ,the ML lead will reborn again and his character are totaly different ,he become bubbly and childish

my biggest problem with xianxias is that they fail to make me believe in the basics of their concepts. the immortals/gods/celestial beings are hardly any different than common people. i don't know why would they cultivate thousands of years only to stay as catty, jealous, possesive, immature as human beings. they rule the universe but act like teenagers, make it make sense LOL.
i dropped this drama after the first 6 episodes. I assumed that this is something that doesn't require any active brain responses, which was totally fine for me as I am still recovering from post-covid effects, but it was so dull and uncreative that even my foggy brain couldn't take it.
I usually agree with the masses if it's a skip. This sounds awful to watch... Yikes. Glad you're feeling better though. Hopefully something new pops up worth watching. So many dramas in post production right now.
ironically i can still recall the old xianxia where the entire pantheon of gods were what i would call "cold and strict" buttholes. the jade emperor from "love and redemption" fits the bill even if he has so little screen time. i think they should come back more often.
Thank you. This is what I always thought. Like I have tried to watch ashes of love god knows how many times just to understand the high praise everyone gives but I can just not keep myself caring about the plot for more than 15 episodes.
honestly if you want xianxia or old fashioned supernatural stories, you're better off watching older series like from the 70s, 80s, or 90s. those have plenty of stories of the "cold and strict" gods/immortals. plus the stories are awesome even when there are *cries* sad endings.
@@anchalmohanty2595 You're not the only one. I finished Ashes of love but there was literally no plot. Only two people who fell in love and fighting for their love with people who are against it. Nothing more. The only interesting story was Run Yu's background.
I would love to see a story where the Heavenly Emporer has a male and female advisor who can't agree on any topic. And then one day, the Emporer announces 'No one has gotten married in over a thousand years, so I've decided to choose husbands and wives for everyone. No need to thank me'. And you can clearly tell he's just doing it because he's bored out of his skull. And he matches the two advisors together and goes 'have a baby within 10 years or I fire you.' Then shenanigans ensue!

Thank you for that last statement. I genuinely believe YangZi and ChengYi did their best, but you are so correct. The production team clearly doesn’t give a shit about good storytelling. Otherwise, they would’ve stopped recycling this type of story long time ago. In the end they still gain so much money from the loyal fandom even with bare minimum.
I never knew Cheng Yi before Immortal Samsara. But I never regret watched this drama, because he is an amazing and talented actors.

I think we need a xianxia drama about a celestial academy where villains are being groomed so they can be released upon earth to give the celestial beings other things to do besides falling Iove. And Avenuex can have a pivotal role like Macgonagall to teach them villain speech🤣🤣🤣

this drama is really really unoriginal and uninteresting but there's a campy quality to it that occupies my brain day and night😹 like, i am constantly CRINGING and snorting over how stupid and ridiculous it is while watching (I don't watch the full thing, some episodes here and there) but I can't stop thinking about it and am unconsciously waiting for the new episodes so that I can be like "lmfaooo this is sooo stupid i love it" 😭
I don't tend to notice details, but when I tell you that I noticed the wig lace. THE WIG LACE. On a close-up shot of Cheng Yi. And then one of the celestial guard's sword that flew out of its scabbard when saluting. I honestly wonder how these cuts made it to the final product...
This is the reason why most of us we love Avenue X! She always hits the nail on the head, sharing what some of us feel. The never ending stale overdose burnt out boring predictable Immortal Mortal dramas that the industry keeps shitting out for the sake of selling is not working!!!
I agree with most of what you said, I just wanted to clarify a few things.
8:36 He introduced her to the palace because she was smart and had potential. She solved a game he used to plan war strategies, so he took an interest in her. Afterwards, he fell in love with her because she showed a different worldview from the one he was used to live and such (very cliché, but still a valid reason). I see no reason for her to fall in love with him, though. This I think was abrupt.
8:15 I don't think Cheng Yi is unimpressive, you didn't say that specifically, but I've seen some complaints that don't make any sense in the comments. There is a difference between acting discreetly and having no other expressions and mannerisms. I've seen a lot of actors who don't deliver emotions in their work and have the same blank face in every scene (usually pretty faces), but Cheng Yi brings a certain kindness to Yingyuan and a more playful side to Tang Zhou, you ₢an see in the arc of the human realm.
I think at first Yang Zi's acting displeased me a bit because I was comparing it to her in Oath of Love, but then I realized that she became more comfortable in the role and some of Yan Dan's comedy scenes were really fun. I liked that they used that drama Queen trait in her personality and how she gets out of situations because of it. It was also ironic because the role is played by Yang Zi, the queen of melodrama
Anyway, this drama is an adaptation of the novel and it has done a decent job of being a lot less messy than the original work. I would complain about the CGs and the wound makeup, there are also some universe-building details that are uncomfortable. The human world arc is the most interesting part because that part in the immortal realm was a small part in the novel and, I agree with you, immortals are absolutely unbearable to see on screen. But you can have fun with the drama, mainly because Yang Zi and Cheng Ti carry the plot on their backs.
Omg exactly it's actually been really fun in the mortal realm 😹 YZ is soooo funny my impression on her went from "she looks like she hates being there" in the first arc to fangirling all the time in the last couple of episodes because she's HILARIOUS (REALLY looking forward to Lost forever now lol) and the overall acting from both and chemistry is just a LOT more natural now lmao. I really hope this stays for longer cause I really don't care about the plot tbh. I want the fun to last forever. It's ridiculous that their characters are way smarter and cooler than when they were immortals lol...I think it's also worth mentioning that YZ's comedic sense in dubbing herself is GOLD, I'm seriously becoming a fan of her !

Plot isn't mind blowing, cgi is questionable but one notable exception would be the whale riding scene, set and costumes are typical xianxia. But I guess I could barely care about those because I love both leads. Don't attack me for this yall🙂 Actors carries shows😆 As long as it doesn't bore me, I'll happily continue watching this :)))
I like when she say " it just drama..all the stars out there..they never done anything for you"...I hate it when fandom obsessed too much about their idol....I am not a fan of this drama but what she said is true...I can't see anydrama that interesting to watch actually...like ANY right now !
I agree. I used to get so confused when an obviously bad drama was getting lots of praise, until I found out some hardcore fans will praise anything their idols are in, regardless of quality. It was frustrating at first, then I learnt to let it go. Some people just need pretty faces, I guess. Others, like me, need substance.
You could just check out Korea dramas for the meantime as you wait for cdramas that might be good in future
@@ccagle449 kdramas are not without cliches too and actually they also have hardcore fandom that think they should defend everything about them even if it doesn't make sense. The problem is there is no informed reviewer who reviews those dramas in english (I've seen some pages in my language though and it's effective) to make their fans a bit more informative and less biased as kdrama fans are normally more biased than western or other drama fans! so international fans don't seem to be very caring about quality as much as korean people themselves.
@@narsis273 I do watch series based on whether I like the synopsis and imdb rating. almost every story line has almost been covered in movies and series already so there will be a bit of cliche here and there. But you can find some really good shows.
The thing I disliked the most in this drama is that FL literally had no reason to hate ML. Girl, he saved your life! And if it were any servant, wouldn't they respect their master even if they hated them. Which kind of servant actually talks rudely to their master? FL has no respect for her master! ML is the powerful immortal while in the beginning, FL had no real powers so why would she openly say things to him that could offend him. And why is ML treating FL specially? Just because she is FL? Coz there is no way he as the most looked-up person in that whole realm would favor a servant with absolutely no reason! And don't get me started on those jealous female characters like why are they written that way? Can't they have good character development for villain characters? Do they have to harm the FL? This drama is messed up. I have no hate against the actors. I think they did a pretty good job. But 7 Screenwriters and they come up with this plot? Like professional screen writers bro! And this lengthy? Oh my god, how can their imagination be this bad. I just dislike the plot so much because everything is done because writer wrote it that way.
This rant was so spot on and hilarious😂😂 I agree with everything AvenueX said. It just seems like they did a drama to tick a box. No creativity and poor production. And this "no love" thing really makes no sense, they just needed a plot in the storyline to make what the characters go through make sense. Which it doesn't. And OH MY GOSH the fight scenes, they are so cringy. I'm hoping it gets better or I can't carry on watching it. At this point I'm watching it for a good laugh.

I didn’t understand this drama at all. Everything contradicts each other. I stopped watching when the sister was jealous with her. It doesn’t make sense, they are sister that grew up with each other.
Ok so she's a flower goddess. Like in Ashes of Love. And he's a secretly from the demon clan, like in Love and Redemption. And there's also a fish immortal as the second lead, like in Ashes of Love. Goodness gracious. Nothing is original.
How did they let this actress play the same role she had in Ashes of Love?! It’s insane how similar they are, so much so that I forget what I’m watching until the ML comes in, and then I think I’m watching Love and Redemption LOLL. Is the drama a joke? Absolutely, but I truly do love the main cast so imma watch it for them and the leads’ chemistry, which is good. It’s just sad that I have to lower my standards to just “meh” if I want to try and enjoy a Chinese fantasy drama nowadays.

The first 38 episodes honestly weren’t too bad, but although slow pace … the story made sense and the editing/cut scenes didn’t make me confused. The hardest part was the latter half… the production team honestly didn’t give af after sadly😭

As someone who have watched both Ashes of Love and Love and Redemption, I was excited for this drama. Because both Leads were my favourite in their respective previous dramas i mentioned. So I was happy for this pairing, seeing my faves playing in a Xianxia drama.
But now I don't expect much from the plot of this drama. I will give it a shot once more episodes will be out. In case I like it, 76 episodes is a long shot and is too much to wait until is done airing.
At least ashes of love have some good plots

I've got to be honest, I'm glad I watched the drama before I watched this rant lol. Maybe because she sped through it so much she didn't catch on to several parts of the plot, such as the lead couple didn't actually want to fall in love, and the ML actively avoided it because it was against the rules and he had a higher purpose, while the FL didn't really recognise it for a looong time and mostly avoided it because he had a higher purpose. That went on for quite a bit and was a major reason for a lot of their issues. Frankly, it's not as if anyone has any control over who they fall in love with, it either happens or it doesn't, and that was the point.
Also, that stupid rule about not falling in love actually has a reason - which is not revealed until almost the end of the entire series. So I agree that it's stupid but it actually makes sense later - not that it's less stupid, it's just that there is an actual reason for it all.
Although I agree with the rant on the genre itself, and a lot of it did apply to this series in particular, I think a lot of specific plot points didn't quite hit the mark. I assume it's because she sped through it so quickly that she missed the finer points. In any case, the chemistry between the two leads was fantastic. The way he says her name each time... aaahhhh... 100% agree about the criticism regarding how boring the stereotypical setups are, but both leads did such a great job that I couldn't stop watching until the end.

As a person who repeated watching AOL & L&R over and over again, i found this drama rlly boring and bluntly annoying. Love both cheng yi and yang zi but couldn't continue after 7 epis (actually wanted to drop right from 3rd epi but couldn't do so because of CP)
Honestly bad cgi, weak story plot, childish characters like kids fighting over for snacks and cliche story parts. I feel sorry for both YZ and CY as we can see they had try their best to save the drama but this drama ia just a NO for me.
I still can't understand how you managed to watch 18 episodes. I was done 10 minutes into the drama. The moment Yang Zi open up her mouth it felt like I was still watching Ashes of Love. She's just playing the same roles over and over. Even the highlight clip on CZcams are not worth it.

Thank you, thank you, thank you this rant is hilarious. I gave up after two of this 'boring ass' drama so have to give you credit for sticking it out for 18 parts of this CRAP.
In truth, just reversing the common tropes and we would have more interesting things to see. This is what I would love to see in future Xianxia dramas, though unlikely:
1. If romance is really what they want, i would like to see something like a reverse trope. Like the leads starting off as established golden couple admired by everyone due to being the strongest from their respective sect/faction and their relationship being the reason why there's a strong alliance between their respective families/sects who were former enemies or perhaps had a cold relationship . The perfect couple... except in private their relationship completely cooled off or they even hate each other, the only thing holding their relationship being the politcal alliance and fear that the divorce may cause other sects to attack them. Some random shit happens and they get stuck in a strange realm that forces them to travel to the past thousands of years ago and then they meet their past counterparts who are now falling in love with each other. They try everything to prevent this from happening, meanwhile also revisiting their lives experience and relationship. They may fall in love again or they may decide to part in good terms.
2. The lead is a selfish second generation modern men/woman who wakes up in a world in xianxia and right off the bat believes they are the main character. Hilarity ensues as they try to replicate the common tropes of this genre not only to miserably fail but also having to fill the role of the passerby . In the end, rich kid realises the value of human life and is forced to review their rotten morals but of course not without forgetting their dream of becoming the main character.
Bet anyone could come up with something better than this writers. When will they start listening to fans??
HONESTLY, if there was a drama where the Heavenly Emperor forced them all to get married, i seriously think that would be really really good. I mean you could have people fighting because they were paired up with the wrong people, people getting in trouble because they hate their spouse and they are not going to make babies... a million takes on the thing. i think that is a great idea. if only someone watching this could write that....

I’m 100% with you. When i 1/2 way through episode 1, i actually decided that immortal samsara is a combination of ashes of love & ancient love poetry. It’s so bad, i couldn’t stand it. I mean can’t they make it a bit more exciting?

after painfully getting through the first 5 ep. , I finally had enough and quit! Conclusion: this is the most boring drama ever! It’s pure waste of time, as every episode has little to none substantial content. And all the acting of the whole cast is so exaggerated.
Even though the plot points are similar in each drama, I love the fact that they all stand out somehow! Yes, the cute, helpless FL and the cold ML are sometimes overused, but the way each actor represents each character with different goals are backstories make all the dramas worth it! I'm at episode 31 of Imortal Samsara and I can say it's very much worth it! I love each character's representation except for the Curator (she's jealous and evil, that's everything you can say about her). Lu Ming really made me appreciate the story, showing that the FL can be friends with other males without them developing feelings for her and without having them being useless or absent for the most part.
I think you’ve really hit the nail when you talked about how the production teams weren’t able to go beyond the materialistic world. It’s so obvious that many of these so called S+ productions don’t give a shit about creating good films or reaching out to the audiences in a deeper sense, despite having invested so much money into the production. Some of the shows are so unbearable to watch but the main leads have such a huge fanbase (and their fans would still support these bad dramas anyway), so it becomes a vicious cycle of fans spending on badly produced dramas and companies continue to produce bad dramas…

I feel in general Chinese dramas are losing their substance in return for censor board approval.
Chinese dramas were much more progressive and thought provoking in the 90’s - 2010 than they are now.

Anyway, everything this lady said from beginning to end is right, the drama is just fundamentally boring and annoying. The people behind it should be embarrassed putting out something that is way way, way...way below the standard of everything in that genre that's been out in the past few years. It feels overwhelmingly like they're trying to profit off the success the actors had with AOL and LAR, it might be business but its not cute. Also lmao she's right its supposed to be "heaven" why is everyone so mean!
This had me laughing so hard. There are several dramas out now that make absolutely no sense. At this point most of them are just comic relief. Sadly, we don't really have a good selection of dramas to choose fro this summer. It's like they are just writing whatever and pumping out drama after drama no matter how bad they are just to stay in the running against their competitors. Because they know die hard fans are going to watch no matter how crappy the drama is. The comment sections of some of these dramas is crazy. Like you said, these actors/actresses have done nothing for you why are you starting wars for them? They are getting richer off of you and all you get is a crappy drama to waste your time on.
I can appreciate dramas where the writers' ambition is to make absolutely no sense ... by that I mean spoofing / satirical pieces designed to be comic relief. But 80 episodes of pretending to be serious is just depressing.
I honestly think people feeling bad for actors and actresses being in bad dramas are silly. They chose to be in the production and also got paid millions. Did they give some of that money to you?

Chinese dramas are so aesthetically pleasing, but so, so trope-heavy that they are almost exact copies of each other. At a certain point, if you've seen one, you've seen them all.

Brava to Avenue X for actually making it through 18 episodes! I gave up after 5.5. The dorky carp guy turned into human form was the final straw, along with the awful, back-biting curator teting to alienate the twin sisters. The only thing that may have interested me is the ML's despair at the ongoing wars between demons and other clans. But other than lamenting about it, it didn't seem he was going to do much about it. A sandia drama subtitled "Peace Breaks Out in Celestial Realm!" probably wouldn't have gotten funded. Poor Yang Zi. Maybe she'll get to play a real adult with real problems and joys in a future drama.

I totally agree with your POV….I like Yang Zi and been looking forward to see her on The Golden Hairpin but it’s been delaying due to the ML scandals and other costume (Japanese-y) issues etc etc…I watched 8 episodes but found the storyline inconsistent, incoherent and confusing how “immortals” are like children in the playground (bickering, fighting, jealousy etc etc). It’s laughable! I watch it as a comedy rather than taking it seriously when it comes to the storyline…it’s so cringey 😂🤣😆

I mostly watch it just to see chengyi crying scenes plus he looks so good in coustome dramas
@@simsgazytech2013 I read on a few websites talking about The Golden Hapirpin (TGH) having one issue after another while trying to salvage the drama by re-shooting scenes to replace the ML. Then there’s also the sensitivity around Japanese-inspired costumes (head pieces) that the Chinese censorship didn’t like etc…so, it’s disappointing not to see the drama release as it looks like a high budget/quality drama with a solid storyline. Personally, I’d like drama to be released with the original ML as I would not boycott the drama because of the ML’s scandals/issues etc….It’s old news now…who cares!?!??
@@rittataylor_2000 I’m still not convinced of Cheng Yi acting skills yet. His expressions are too similar to Stand By Me which I tried to continue to watch 3 times but stopped at episode 8….it was so boring and the ML&FL have no chemistry. As someone who watches Kdramas, Cdramas, US movies over 3 decades now, nothing surprises me anymore and my expectation of acting skills standard in Cdramas are low, yet I couldn’t watch it any further 😆🙅🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️💆🏻♀️
@@NguyenTran-un3pu thats also partly because his company gives him the same type of roles in all his dramas similar to what jaywalk is doing to both dilreba and yangmi and you can't always blame it on the actors when your own agency is hellbent on typecasting you and yes I do think chengyi is a much better actors when compared to traffic stars like yangyang and gong jun so far the only drama I saw of yangyang which I felt he tried to act like a real actor is YAMG besides that all the other dramas he acted in his acting has been pretty much the same or some instances gotten worse while gong jun literally has one of the worst crying scenes(WOH) I have ever seen in a drama but even then they were mostly saved by the script rather than their own acting skills and these are people who have the freedom to choose the dramas they want but in case of chengyi his dramas are mostly produced by his agency whose main purpose is also to promote all his other coactors in his agency and thats why I wanted this drama to be hit so that he can choose the dramas he wants to act similar to what happened for yangzi since if you look back at her filmography you could clearly that it was only after hits like ode to joy and AOL she tried to do different roles and not be typecasted and I never said cheng yi is the greatest actor in the world but compared to other traffic stars who survive based on their fandom he does deserve more freedom to control his own career and not be stuck in a situation where he has to constantly work in his own agency's shitty dramas and if you haven't guessed it by now yang zi and chengyi come from the same agency so all the nonsense rules that were applied for yang zi were also applied for him but since chengyi doesn't have a huge fanbase like yangzi no one made a big deal out it and unlike her chengyi is still greatly dependent on his agency so it's not like he can speak out about it either.
I believe that AvenueX has watched this drama on 4x speed, as she has ranted on this drama at 4x speed.
I watched the drama for 15-20 mins of ep1 before quitting. The moment YangZi and her sister's character was introduced and the way they behaved; it was enough for me to quit.
As I've said before. This kind of repeated failure begs for an excellently written/done parody!
honestly, in the xianxia book version of "love you seven times" the female lead often mocks the white(?) emperor for his intention behind the writings of her fates. i hope they bring out the parody-like statements she makes throughtout the story in the live adaptation. they are part of why i love the story so much.

Lol…what you suggested for a plot, there is already comical BL comic called “let’s have a dragon baby”. It about the jade emperor deciding to send all the royal dragon down to mortal realm and they can’t come back to the god realm unless they find another dragon and have a baby.

Kinda enjoyed AoL and L&R previously, and now watching Immortal Samsara (which i admit I'm watching Samsara sporadically..) i really can feel the same vibes from AoL and L&R in this drama😐 And with such typical boring plot, marie-kondo styling and at the thought of this drama is gonna have a whopping 80 episodes, really scares me.

no, avenuex. it may just be because i read too many books, but the make-people-have-kids-because-no-one-wants-to-get-together trope gets old very quickly. granted, there are some very unique stories that have come out of this kind of story but i wouldn't recommend milking it as a genre.

The main thing I see wrong with the drama is poor editing. A lot of scenes are disjointed and transitions between some scenes don’t make sense. If the producers had a bigger budget on hiring editors and closely monitoring the process it would make a huge difference.

The gossiping in the celestial realm is over the top ridiculous....constantly saying "the weak one" this and "the strong one" that. Ugh....it's tiring. I started off liking this drama okay....maybe because I haven't seen the others mentioned other than "Stand by Me" and Cheng Yi basically plays the same character in that one too. Now that I watch this video I can agree that there is too much that is annoying about this whole show. Why can't anyone speak up and tell the truth? This celestial realm is full of lying idiots.

While watching, I already knew which parts you would rant on if you were to make a video, and I was right! XD I feel really "meh" about this drama. There's a reason why I can't really watch xianxias, wuxias, and sometimes other fantasy-related content from China because it's all really hard for me to understand the rules/laws set in that world and the trials that the characters have to go through because of it. Thus, I couldn't understand the abstinence of love within the heavenly realm and its focus on love even though it's banned. I couldn't understand why the Heavenly Emperor couldn't just snap his fingers and make everyone lack emotions if people aren't meant to feel as an immortal. But then are faced with hardships aka emotions to become a higher-ranked immortal??? Then everything happens so fast that suddenly, I'm supposed to believe and be heartbroken that they can't be together. That they would sacrifice their lives and years so many times to love each other within the first 18 episodes. It was all hard to digest. What makes it worse is that none of the supporting characters, so far, are well-written enough for me to like them either. It's because they're written as a cannon folder to the leads. Every scene we see them is just used for the plot to move. Nothing special, unique, or spunky about them. It's also hard for me to believe in Yumo's love for Yandan, which says a lot about the scriptwriting.
What is holding this whole drama together is the acting of Yang Zi and Cheng Yi and my slight bias toward them. There's a lot of focus on the two and their relationship and the fact that this plot moves sooo fast with so much new information as we go, it's easy to not dwell so long on what's so horrible XD I already knew this one was going to drag/be crappy when I heard the number of episodes. I don't think that many episodes are needed to tell a good story (Love like the Galaxy is on pause because of this). But I will continue watching (for now) just because of Yang Zi, Cheng Yi, and the fast-moving plot.
i recommened series from the 70s, 80s, and 90s if you want good series in the xianxia/supernatural cultivation stories. their world buildings are better as they allow you to understand the world the characters have to live in.
I have the terrible problem of absolutely loving the aesthetics and idea of xianxia, but I am disappointed over and over again by what dramaland puts out. I actually love the idea of celestial realm, gods and immortals, etc, but the way dramaland puts out dramas, it's taking all the aesthetic with none of the substance. This has been repeated over and over but all the gods act like teenagers and just any immersion whatsoever is lost when you have someone living thousands of years having little to no life experience or wisdom, or even common sense.
Give me a story about gods where they actually act like gods!! Not gods in high school zzzzz

I don't think that you have to feel guilty for it cause the aesthetics ARE in fact really beautiful, Xianxia aesthetics have a unique type of beauty that are there even when the drama is not high quality production and all and I personally love it . I'm a sucker for everything mythology-core as well 🤧 But i think we need to stick to fanarts cause these dramas are going nowhere fr lol
To put it in short, the idea of xianxia is great in theory, it's just that the execution in these dramas is just REALLY bad
it is hard to watch these dramas and realize that the dramas have no story interesting enough to keep their audience entertained.
No matter what or how the story line is I just want to appreciate the actor's hardworking because it's not their fault for them at least I'll continue watch the drama because in the drama they really did a great job their acting are on point ...when 80 % of this drama's set is green screen ..
As much as I love Yang Zi, I really want Immortal Samsara to flop so that this kind of genre stops being seen as an easy cash cow. Yang Zi is a superstar and a talented actress, and will do FAR better roles in the future. No wonder she hesitated so much before taking on this role and even publicly celebrated when the shooting ended.

yang zi's role is similar to that of ashes of love where she keep on acting stupid, clueless n bubbly while the ML reminds you of love n redemption where he keeps dying or cough up blood.
the basic plot is copy of tmopb and keeps on repeating itself.
Similar in a way they're both characters who loves freedom but Yan Dan isn't as clueless as Jin Mi. Yan Dan is a great at playing chess means she's smarter 😆 and I loved how she emotionally supported Yingyuan during his darkest day. As for Cheng Yi, all characters he plays all suffers because he's great at it and viewers love it😬
As I couldn’t take anymore and had to drop the drama at episode 15 I was already looking forward to you making a rant about it! Can’t believe you made it through 18 episodes. The dedication for the review is so admirable. Can’t believe a drama that already had that many issues by episode 18 is actually set to have ~70 episodes 👀

so glad we have someone to rant on our behalf. You survived 18 eps, I watched less than 10 and you vocalized exactly how I feel. Gosh, what an ancient ancient storyline, was it 10 years ago that such themes were the rage? This is 2022 and we are still watching this boring storyline. What a waste of resources. Avenue X - thank you for your existence, your rants and sarcasm make me laugh and we needs laughs the way this world is going these days!

I tried so hard to watch this show. Halfway through episode 1 I paused it and didn’t go back until a week or two later. I finally finished episode 3 today during my lunch break and then saw this rant. I can say that I’ll put this show on pause again without wondering if I’m missing out. It is so boring/bad and predictable. Thank goodness for the rant video.
