West Wemyss

West Wemyss is a village lying on the north shore of the Firth of Forth, in Fife, Scotland. According to the 2007 population estimate, the village has a population of 237. The village was granted burgh of barony status in 1511, bearing the name from the Wemyss family who lived in Wemyss Castle.

I walk to West Wemyss often, from Dysart.
Gorgeous wee village.
One of the very few good things about the lockdown is that it makes you appreciate your own locality much more.

My father George grew up in this beautiful village. He always said he was very lucky to have grown up in such a wonderful place. I cherish memories of visiting my Nana and Granddad here in the 1970/80's and playing in the woods and beach. I still visit the graves when I am in Scotland.

This is where my ancestors are from! One of my great-grandfathers was the Chief of the Clan Wemyss! I can't wait to visit someday 🥺

i live not far from dysart but i love coal town of wemyss and east and west wemyss coaltown of wemyss is lovely passing by all those lovely wee houses its like a beautiful wee village coaltown then you have a wee house on its own was that used to be a cafe but now a hair dressers ? shame it would be beautiful as a wee cafe the beauch and the harbour is beautiful also its a beautiful walk from dysart to all they wemyss till you pass it then you get to buckhaven anything past that is not so nice sorry but not my cuppa tea
