We need more than never such beautiful music
Very well said an inspiration

YES!!!!
What’s the best in life?
To listen to this. See the volume rise. And hear the lamentations of your neighbors.
❤️🔥
🤣🤣🤣 best comment ever
There can not be a better soundtrack for a fantasy film than this one. Basil Poledouris RIP!
Robocop, too.. I think Robocop and Conan best movies of all time.
Excalibur
@@TheGazavman Excalibur had great music too, but the majority of the tracks were taken from classical musical pieces, so it was not a "direct" soundtrack which was specially written to that film. However, I agree, Excalibur had great music.
What "massively" impressed me is the music seemed to gently capture the seductive nature of cults. Um...this is impressive. Made the movie for me.
It's even better than the Lord of the Rings soundtrack and that's great to.
Crom laughs at your 2011 remakes, laughs from his mountain...
+DankenReviews it was a pretty bad movie, to say the least.
My God, The Four Winds, The Everlasting sky, agrees completely with Crom.
+DankenReviews Crom says that it was an offense to have a retarded new conan , with a strabismus ! Crom will fart on him !
lol best comment.
+Arthur Yagami Better than Conan the Destroyer though
Conan, what is best in life?
To crush the dislikes, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their thumbs!

I was 13 back in 1982 when my dad took me to the theatre to watch this movie. He left and went to the pub next door for a few pints while I got to sit there in awe as this amazing spectacle unfolded before my eyes.My dad thought it was just a comic book movie.
😂😂😂😂😂😂By the anvil of Crom!
I was around 7-ish. Lots of way older siblings. Call them cool or negligent, either way, this fucking film is impressionable. Taught me the meaning of will, friendship, and a life well-lived.
I knew my two teenage sons were going to turn out ok when I came home from work one day to find the stereo cranked playing this. They BOUGHT the soundtrack cassette.
I'm still proud of them.
Great story. If I had children and if they did what your sons did, I would have a GREAT day and I would remember it forever.
Excellent story
They have great spirits!
I can understand that, this soundtrack is beyond epic
Loud and proud.
Few musical scores move the soul like Conan the Barbarian does.
Basil Poledouris wrote a masterpiece that will last through the ages. It is visceral, haunting, evoking imagery of beauty and savagery.
Listening to the music, one can visualize the whole movie. Genius.
DefTom ChefTom you nailed that thought!!
@@heineken6120 ...to the tree of woe!
Every frame of the movie is a poster so perfect is the art direction. The music is the same.
Arguably the best motion picture soundtrack ever made.
+Lukan2k
Along with the old school Star Wars trilogy, Lord of the Rings, Blade Runner and more in great soundtracks
+Johnlindsey289 dont forget Flash Gordon (1980)
+Johnlindsey289 Along with the Superman and Jurassic Park themes
+Luke2k No, sir. It's Morricone's "The Good, The Bad And The Ugly". This theme is at the top, alongside Star Wars and James Bond themes. :)
Agree. Basil Poledouris lands here a true piece of art. Amazing blend of strength and delicate touch.
The power is nothing short of astonishing.
858 DISLIKES tell me they dont now how to handle epic stuff
They are weaklings.
Basil Poledouris often wrote inspired music, but none of his other Scores had the scope and grandeur of Conan.
Two essential qualities that make a unique Masterpiece: had not aged a bit in 33 years and you can listen to it randomly forever, will never bore. Met the man in 1999, asked WHY HE NEVER CONDUCTED LIVE this splendid work.
Answered he didn't like available orchestras and choruses. He was fighting for his life when he finally conducted it in Andalusia with a crappy Orchestra & Chorus. I was there. I gave him a hug afterwards. Out of tune Players and Chorus. Sad. RIP. Thank you for this immortal gift, Maestro.
E. G. Fraga: wow you met him!
thats quite of a story
Impressive!
Tried to watch on Y.T. the constant page turning of the score,by Everyone, even B.P. as conductor, smacks of desperation (let's git er done) and probably was the main reason it sucks. There are better (later) versions out there, check them out. Moral: PRACTICE makes perfect! Do you need, really NEED the score? Practice/ Rehearse more.
This comment add to the public understanding of this work and artist. Thanks for sharing.
The most badass soundtrack ever. This music makes you feel like you can do anything.

Good boy you were!
*nods head in approval*
Conan the Barbarian was (in my opinion) an excellent movie, but what truly made it shine for me was the score. It was masterfully combined with what was happening in the movie, and each main character had their own musical theme. The Tree of Woe scene still brings a tear to my eye, as he hangs dying, the music is monotonous and sad, and just when it looks like the bleak end for Conan… it transitions into the wonderful musical theme of his hyrkanian archer friend coming to the rescue. It's beautiful and amazing, and to me epitomises what movies should strive for in music scores.
Tanson32 man that was good!!
+Tanson32
Nothing else to add, move along.
I always focused on the Eye of the Serpent scene. The score there was not on the original soundtrack. But there is a full soundtrack on YT that includes it. :)

Poledorious fantastic
"For no one - no one in this world can you trust. Not men, not women, not beasts. *This* you can trust."
Amen to that
YES
Too bad that the father was wrong.
The Riddle of Steel!
He wasn't wrong, cause Conan took that to heart.
originally de laurentiis wanted Queen to score the soundtrack, similar to Flash Gordon but milius said no and brought in poledouris, thank god
Thank God indeed. I like Freddy but where would his voice fit into this film?

One of the greatest movie soundtracks ever! Basil Poledouris rest in peace my sir, this was on another level! thank you for letting us have this magnificent peace of art work..
I’d not limit it to movie soundtracks. One of the best musical works ever.
Robert E. Howard constantly insisted that, late at night, the Shade of Conan stood behind his shoulder dictating stories of his exploits from 10,000 years in the past and that the words came so fast that Howard could barely keep up with them on his typewriter.
I wish Howard had not taken his own life.
@@psylinx Yes. Its often the most beautiful minds, that are the most vulnerable.
@ I am sorry but I have to disagree with you. I am not going to chock it up to the Devil. Having mental health problems, no matter your faith, is where compassion and kindness come in. Just "demonizing" it is showing a lack of empathy for a person's personal battle.
@ Haha! Chrom laughs at your god in his heaven. He laughs from his mountain!
12,000 years ago or so, the world was an entirely different place, of which we know almost nothing. Atlantis was the leader of an empire that spanned the (then) known world. Only a massive impact event, causing an ungodly tidal wave to wipe out and change the face of Europe and Africa forever managed to wipe them out.
I am not sure that Howard wasn't crazy. But then again, he may have been telling the truth.
To crush your box office, to see critics scatter before you and hear the lamentations of the girly men.

The best soundtrack of all time, period🖤
Agreed
I watched the video over and over again, hundred of times. Still wetting my eyes when I saw Conan's eyes when he raised his head after pushing the gigantic wheel for over 20 years.
No Oscar for this masterpiece,? I'm glad they didn't gave him an Oscar, this music is worth of a superior award !!And that award is the peoples of the world recognition as a MASTERPIECE! RIP, BASIL POLEDOURIS❤
Well said .👍
One of the most beautiful soundtracks I have ever heard. It has so many emotions, truly a masterpiece.
What is best in life?
To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women.
music for grande men, best action film ever, viva the 80's
One of the most underrated soundtracks of all time. LOVE IT
Compared to other famoue soundtracks yes it is very underrated. But institutions like the AFI are aware of this gem. It was elligible for the 25 best soundtracks of all time. Sadly, it didn't make it to the top 25, but just being recognized as one of the greatest soundtracks of all time is finally some overdue respect.
Love this soundtrack and Basil Poledouris. This is a perfect example of what an amazing soundtrack can do for a movie
Back in the day me and my friends would listen to this sound track while playing D&D and drinking beer while eating domino's lol. I miss the good old days. Long live the true king of the barbarian's! "Conan"
What about the Star Wars classic trilogy soundtrack? epic as well.
Same here :)
Ive always wanted to try that, but never had the opportunity..... 😰
where talking about the food chain dominos pizza.
I use to play Warhammer to this music. Very epic. Perfect for a night of table top battles, and was a perfect D&D soundtrack. You would eat Dominos and chains? You are hard core!
Just as it was intended, this music makes me feel like a warrior...strong, bold, and fearless with cold steel in my hand at the ready! Onward brothers, to battle!!!

It's just strange how even after decades these old movies still feel the best! The adventures seem fresh and the music fits like a glove to hand. Truly the Prodcuer had a strong vision how to create this masterpiece. Definately my favourite moment in the movie: "Do you want to live forever!" Loved it as a child and Love it still!! Is he Alive?
@@itsblitz4437 Sadly no, he passed in 2006.
He managed to combine music and power, without ever descending into loudness.

But this, Conan the Barbarian, is perhaps the greatest soundtrack ever made.

Basil knew what he was doing here. One of the best original soundtracks of all time.
How this soundtrack was not nominated for best original score is beyond me.
Esto no es música ,es MAGIA!!!!!!!
Nobody will ever make a more sweeping classical masterpiece than these old flicks. Star wars, great. But CONAN well, Luke skywalker never cut the head of darth vader and tossed it down the stairs of the death star. Conan did. Makes me wonder what Basil could have done with Star Wars
lol
The movie was good but the soundtrack was the best of any film i have ever seen.
What about Conan's prayer to Crom. Now that's how Rambo and Chuck Norris would pray. "THEN TO HELL WITH YOU". LOL
baddest scene of just about any film
Poledouris would have made a worthwhile Star Wars film score. I’m not sure if it would have been as memorable as what John Williams gave us.
Although all good, none of Poledouris’ other scores has ever been as memorable as the ones for the Conan movies.
No one in this world must you trust,..not women, not men, not beast, but this song you can trust -- Crom

There aren't many soundtracks that make the hairs on your neck stand up while listening to them - but this one does. That opening track and score is epic.
Basil Poledouris supremo!

Absolutely love this soundtrack and the movies from the 80's. Playing Mortal Kombat right now listening to itwith my headphones on.
It is 2015 and this soundtrack is still one of the best EVER.
This score, this orchestrated music, the movie's atmosphere, it's color, it's old narrative...it was all art. You can't try to copy or top that with modern generic crashing, blood, and explosions. Learn your lesson Hollywood. Learn it well.
So... this is the paradise!!!
This movie has so many fantastic quotes. This soundtrack is a testament to the gods. This movie along with numerous 80's movies shaped my childhood and is partly to blame for the person I have become... And if you do not listen... THEN TO HELL WITH YOU!

Read the books or hear the audio books... amazing story.
"The Hour of the Dragon" would have made a good movie and just after his retirement as Governor of California, Arnold would have been just the right age to play the part.
How fitting it would be for Arnold to do this last film and make it proper trilogy.
"Conan the Conqueror"
Yep. Still waiting....
Best sound track ever
Best soundtrack ever! A perfect fit for this epic movie!
Conan the Barbarian is a great movie, and before the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and Game of Thrones, one that set an amazingly high bar for how to make grounded and adult fantasy. It is also a melting pot of great talents brought together at exactly the right time, with a hungry Arnold looking to dominate action stardom, a hungry Oliver Stone writing screenplays with the ambition of directing, and a hungry John Milius looking to make his mark after collaborating with Francis Ford Coppola on many outstanding films. What elevates the film beyond anything else is this cinematic score by Basil Poledouris that literally rocks the cinema and at times is like heavy metal for an orchestra, at other times is lyrical and pastoral, and is consistently emotional, uplifting, mystical, and filled with power anthems, while never forgetting the setting, the source material, or when to be quiet and reflective. A score that will remain legendary. Rest in peace. Crom is pleased.
The only time Crom was ever pleased.
😌 So viele Jahre her und der Film, wie die Musik ein Klassiker.
*MASTERPIECE*
Conan the Barbarian is a mandatory movie/ost for every men. The riddle of steel??? Easy! Its on the beginning of the movie with Nietzsche quote...From suffering and pain, you will get stronger and conquer your objectives in life. Conan did just that never giving up. What a movie, full of testosterone and courage, magic and battles, kings and wizards... Deeply inspiring for me since i was a little boy. Now...stop reading this youtube comment and go and conquer the world!!!
A movie my father watched with me to show what it means to be a man, and what warrior woman and evil woman are. A lesson in truth and strength. Respect and courage. In honor and accountability, something missing these days.
Agree but antediluvian period instruments? you mean drums right?
I really want to show my younger brothers Conan the barbarian. One is 11 and the other is 5. When do you think would be the right age?
@@Gunrun808 there is some nudity but I think the 11 year old would be fine..
I was five when I first saw it and I'm doing fine...no criminal record so that's something...and I only owe god...honour!
Bro, the riddle of steel was that it's actually weak, "For what is Steel compared to the Arm that wields it?" Thulsa Doom didn't invent a fake answer -- he KNEW the answer to the riddle of steel. That's why he said he was once obsessed with it. He chased it, discovered the answer and then created the Children of Doom. That's the entire point of of his father's sword being broken in the battle of the mounds. It's not that the Atlantean sword was better, its that CONAN was better.
