Folks its not American Accent. Actually he spent his childhood till the age of 12 years in Manchester. Probably, foundation of language influenced this sort of accent.

He spent his formative years abroad,coming back to Pakistan when he was 13.So the accent was real.But then he talked about in his later interviews about how he deliberately shook off his accent because it used to put people off & also he felt his accent could put him at some disadvantage in his acting career.So the desi accent that he has now is the fake one.
