    TEMPLES IN MOUNT KIDUL
Gunungkidul Regency is an area dominated by the hills in the western part of the Sewu Mountains or the South Limestone Mountains - where the name “Gunung Kidul (southern mountain) comes from, which stretches in the south of Java Island starting from the area eastward to Tulungagung Regency. This area has an arid climate because it is formed from limestone, indicating that in the past it was a seabed. The findings of ancient marine animal fossils support this assumption. This area began to become land as a result of tectonic and volcanic uplifts since the Miocene.
However, Gunung Kidul Regency also has cultural wealth in the form of temples, as well as traditions as a place of refuge for the Majapahit people. Some of the sites, for example the Langse Cave Site and Ngobaran Beach, are considered the moksa places of King Brawijaya. This video will explore several classic remains in the form of temples, including Pulutan Temple, Risan Temple, Dengok Temple and PSoftan Temple.
Although some of them have collapsed, it turns out that these sites have an interesting historical story.
