My theory is that what ties Loona's members and units together is the journey of embracing oneself:
1/3 are dealing with their individual struggles and internal conflicts, aome of them including a confrontation of several sides of their identity. Notably Vivi, who's android existence is in conflict with her wish to be a normal girl, and she has to abandon one side of her to embrace what she truly wants
I'm not sure about the other girls but it seems like Heejin wants to break free from her monotone daily life and embrace her colourful identity
Hyunjin is held back from what she wants, love, by another side of her identity, her shyness? In the end she embraces herself by wearing a cat mask
Haseul shows a conflict between her two identities and struggles to reach a confrontation between the two but succeeds when the girl shoots the boy? If you can call that a success
Yeojin's struggle is between her love for the frog and her fear of comitting to a relationship at such a young age, so there is a conflict here as well
In Odd Eye circle the girls have to learn to use their odd eye and embrace this part of their identity to complete their mission, and in yyxy the members, similar to Heejin, want to break free from the world they live in and find freedom, being able to embrace who they truly are; with the exception of Olivia Hye who has difficulty letting go and only at the end of her mv/ in the hi high mv is approached by other members and finally becomes part of Loona
In my opinion the story of Loona is one of accepting your dreams and identity and be brave enough to reach for what you truly want and embrace your identity, going beyond what has been given to you. By being united as Loona they together create a world where they are free to be themselves.
In later ot12/11 comebacks I believe this acceptance of oneself is then spread onto other women around the world, as Butterfly, So what and Why not mv all include women from around the world. In addition, these songs show the true acceptance of Loona of themselves as they are strong and confident and can dance freely, as shown by them dancing specifically on the moon, the Loona world they created
The "burn yourself" message of So what is probably referring to being brave enough to let go once and for all to their previous doubts and problems holding them back, they are burning themselves in order to remove all that from themselves and come out stronger like a phoenix rebirthing from its ashes
I'm sorry if this is messy, some parts especially the 1/3 girls aren't well worked out yet but I believe this is the story Loona want to tell

I think the reason why it's so easy for the girls of yyxy to fall in love with themselves is because they aren't humans like us. They come from Utopia, a word that basically means a good world that doesn't exist. They love themselves easily because they're surrounded by good things, unlike humans who can easily fall into despair and insecurity because of the world we live in.

This is the most realistic explanation for the loonaverse I've ever read. Thank you! I love the crazy theories and all, but the truth is they wouldn't come at the public, with a marketing point of view, with a very complex story as a base. They've made their concepts about loving oneself pretty clear. Of course this view isn't as complicated full of secrets, but it is fun! The fact that people read too much in the stories isn't bad, it helped the sales grow and loona become what it is today. I just love the simplicity of this view as well. Sorry if I rambled aldkamfm

I’m just happy when there’s an overarching theme/message haha and I’m sure if I work on it there are many details that can be tied into it as well
Damn, I love this interpretation. Also, because of it, I noticed a pattern where all LOONA of 1/3 solo projects portray the lack of self-contentment.
Heejin is discontent with her mundane activity.
Hyunjin is discontent with her evasive tendency.
Haseul is discontent with her dual identity.
Yeojin is discontent with her maturity.
Vivi is discontent with her lack of humanly flaws that would've made her feel more alive.
Also, I love the overall message that is implied by 1/3 as a subunit;
To love and live is to be imperfect. To love and live is to accept that both sweetness and cruelty are parts of it. To love and live is to try to indulge yourself in challenging dynamics as a mean to reach self-acceptance. To love and live is to have different meanings, interpretations, and ways to face said challenges for each of us, and that's okay.

Wait! so "the girl is the boy's wish" actually refers to the little prince and his rose? if I remember for him his rose was the most unique one above all of the other roses in the universe since he spent with so much time with her and the effort he put into their friendship (its been a while since I read the little prince but I think that's how that part was) So this means the bird Haseul was the little prince and Haseul was the flower? Did it happen the same as in the story, in which, the flower, vain and naive, demanded the little prince to care for her and to do all of her requests and he does, eventually falling in love with her as so she also falls in love with him. But, one day when she unintentionally lies to the little prince, the little prince doubts of her love for him and eventually becomes so sad and lonely he leaves her, the rose ends up feeling very sad and thinks that it was her fault the little prince left her. After some time, the prince realizes that he was in the wrong for only looking at those words instead of everything the rose did for him to prove him he loved her and ends up in the realization that since he is too young, he does not know how to properly love his rose. the lyrics do seem to match up if I remember, Haseul sang about a flower petals/flower blooming. If I think about it, their relationship do expresses both the sweet and cruel side of love, so it fits!

LOONA 1/3 is always special to me, I got into LOONA quite after Yeojin's debut and the rest is history, so seeing 41 minutes dedicated to them and the time when LOONAverse was not even a thing is really nostalgic and satisfying. The weirdest thing about me as an orbit Is that I was already waist deep in the Loonaverse before I stanned truly stanned.
As a French I never achieved to know if Haseul sang "Je ne sais pas par où commencer" (I don't know where to start) ou "Je ne sais même pas où commencer (I don't even know where to start"), the meaning is the same but the despair and feeling of being lost is more important in the second one

I’m glad I’m not the only one who questions the claims of Loona 1/3 portraying “realistic” scenery.
I don't know if this has been talked about before, but I think its interesting that Vivid has references to Alice in Wonderland, Let Me In has references to The Little Prince, and Kiss Later has references to The Princess and The Frog. They're all childhood fairytales/fables, could it tie into the 1/3 song Fairy Tale? Is there any Korean fairy tales that can connect the other 1/3 members?

Just to add on, if you assess Love & Live with Live (leev) instead of Live (laiv), it is very directly connected to how Vivi finds love in her friends and also finds a meaning to live (become human) :D

Can't wait for the rest of the series, I think it continues to get both darker and lighter amazing thank-you.
Just wanted to say, I really like your methods of analyzing the loonaverse by strictly limiting it into what actually happened in the MVs and what was officially confirmed in scattered interviews or other sources. It made the whole video more credible and goes further beyond just a simple theory. Even after all this time, LOONA never fails to surprise me with how little I know about the loonaverse.

I know it's been a year since an update but I'm a new fan and this is just really amazing. It's like a documentary but for loona's lore. I love documentaries and loona so I also love this so much especially cause it focuses on the canon lore and deviates from fan theories.
I would love to know about fan theories as well but it would be more beneficial if I learn the canon version first before I dive in to fan theories and make my own.
That's the magic of loona, there could be endless theories but there's also a canon story that keeps you grounded.
I hope you could somehow complete the timeline until YYXY but I really appreciate the videos you've uploaded about the loonaverse and the effort and time you've given into it.
P.S. Android ViVi is the best thing that ever happened in my life.
I've only ever watched Twinfish when it comes to Loonaverse and she always went so in-depth and explained every detail as the music video went on. That's not a bad thing but it was pretty complicated. Also since she's gone now, it's great more people are making Loonaverse videos! It's also epic since I'm actually around when these ones are being made, I can follow along with these as they're uploaded rather than binging Twinfish and letting concepts go over my head lol

As a Taiwanese new orbit who recently found loona, the amazing group, through QD2, I am so proud of my nation being part of the loonaverse.
But the Chinese in 30:24 was not the version we usually use in Taiwan.
In Taiwan and Hongkong, we use Traditional Chinese like this: 跳躍力
But in China, they use Simplified Chinese like this: 跳跃力
I don't know why they used Simplified Chinese to present because both Taiwan and Hongkong use Traditional Chinese, which is the more complex one.
Maybe it's just simply because there are more people who use Simplified Chinese around the world : (
But another interesting fact is that the Chinese word "墮落天使"(fallen angel) showed in Olivia's Egoist MV was correctly in Traditional Chinese!
Even though the word in Simplified Chinese looks like "堕落天使," which is really similar to Traditional one, it still really surprised me. Haha
