🔆Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 2, Verse 41:
व्यवसायात्मिका बुद्धिरेकेह कुरुनन्दन |
बहुशाखा ह्यनन्ताश्च बुद्धयोऽव्यवसायिनाम् || 41||
vyavasāyātmikā buddhir ekeha kuru-nandana
bahu-śhākhā hyanantāśh cha buddhayo ’vyavasāyinām
🔴The conviction as regards this (twofold Yoga), marked by resolution, is single; the convictions of the irresolute are indeed many-branched and endless, O Arjuna!
🔆Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 2, Verse 42:
यामिमां पुष्पितां वाचं प्रवदन्त्यविपश्चित: |
वेदवादरता: पार्थ नान्यदस्तीति वादिन: || 42||
yāmimāṁ puṣhpitāṁ vāchaṁ pravadanty-avipaśhchitaḥ
veda-vāda-ratāḥ pārtha nānyad astīti vādinaḥ
🔴They are the unwise who utter flowery speeches, O Arjuna! They revel in the letter of the Vedas and declare, "There is nothing else."
🔆Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 2, Verse 43:
कामात्मान: स्वर्गपरा जन्मकर्मफलप्रदाम् |
क्रियाविशेषबहुलां भोगैश्वर्यगतिं प्रति || 43||
kāmātmānaḥ swarga-parā janma-karma-phala-pradām
kriyā-viśheṣha-bahulāṁ bhogaiśhwarya-gatiṁ prati
🔴Desire-ridden, heaven-bent, they utter words which lead to births and actions replete with specific rites that yield enjoyments and power.
🔆Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 2, Verse 44:
भोगैश्वर्यप्रसक्तानां तयापहृतचेतसाम् |
व्यवसायात्मिका बुद्धि: समाधौ न विधीयते || 44||
bhogaiśwvarya-prasaktānāṁ tayāpahṛita-chetasām
vyavasāyātmikā buddhiḥ samādhau na vidhīyate
🔴In the case of those who have given themselves up to pleasures and power and whose minds have been enslaved by the words of the Vedas that command rites, there is no chance of the resolute mind addressing itself to concentration.

What is interesting is that even after being taught by the Lord Himself, Arjun remained as worldly as anybody (just read Mahabharata). Even during the Great Wat of K, Arjun behaved like anybody else. It tells us something. IT has to be Realized and Practiced.

So when we chant Asto ma sat gamaya (lead me from untruth to truth) would we classify that as Selfish Karma as we are asking God for something of our own benefit? The vedic fire sacrifices I was going through the meanings of chants, it is all regarding purifying the environment, or purifying our minds or giving us wisdom, or appreciating the power of Supreme... At 40 mins of this video Swami ji says vedic ritual is also Ordinary Karma like our day to day karma (Sakama Karma) as it is prompted by worldly desires.... so asking God to keep us away from bad habits, or give us wisdom is a wordly or selfish desire? if anyone can help me understand would be great.
I got the answer in next shlok. There are rituals/ fire sacrifices in Vedas for purification of the mind also not only for worldly desires...
