I just wanted to say thank you so much because i tried legit every reddit tutorial i could find and several youtube ones, they were all half assed and skipped a lot of steps that you didn't. you even made us use an auto update script every time we open the server which is really neat. @@realradrian yea i was just wondering man and another question did you open the server with a steam alt account and if you used an alt account for your server how did you join with your main account in the server
@@metiberisha8277 I had made an alt account to play on the server, but it turns out you can actually just put "-anonymous" instead of putting your login. So that's what I've been doing

When I opened the server.bat file, I got the error: "Windows cannot find '-dedicated'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again." How can I solve that?

For some reason start.bat does not allow me to download cs2 files. It simply says "cs2.exe" cannot be found.
How do I have my server automatically launch with sv_cheats 1 so I can make a server with fun commands? I don't think changing the config will work since it will exec the config before the cheats are actually enabled.
Why did valve remove the option to pass though firewalls using the steam network?

Friends that try to join are getting the message "server is full" - even after I've kicked the bots. What's going on?

It says the app ID specified by the server is invalid when I try to connect, what's up with that? I used game id 730 when generating the token

I followed the guide and cannot find which step I went wrong on. I have everything setup like you do, and have the port forwards done. But when my friends try to connect they get a fail message. Any tips?
are they connecting thru console cmd? do you have firewall blocking inbound on that port (on your pc)? what error do they get? I haven't tried this yet but those are some steps to try
the server is working and all that but my friends cannot connect. it is either "unable to establish a connection with the gameserver" or "server is restricted to lan games only"

Not sure if you'll respond or not but everytime I open the server, it re-writes the server.cfg. I even tried making it read-only but since it replaces the server.cfg everytime I open the server, I was wondering why that happens and how do I fix it?

Hey, i Need your help! I hosted a Server on a Site and i want to make it 6v6 competitive. I dont know how.. there is no gamemode_server.cfg just for each gamemode…what can i do? I dont even have rights in Game for Commander :(

Seems no one knows the answer to this question. I can't find how to give a user admin rights anywhere. It's nice to have this server but I can't use it in game so it's worthless.

I followed the guide (Used SteamCMD for dedicated server), after i install the game files from steamcmd (by start.bat), i can't start server, when i'm opening start.bat again, it just make a verification of files, and than window is automatically closed
just made a VM server, downloaded steamcmd and did everything... looks like starting a cs2 serveer via PURE steamcmd is not even an option that is working at the moment... basically you need regular steam client and game before you can even start the cs2 server with steamcmd method...

everytime it starts it has to check for steamcmd updates. It's required
Delete validate command on .bat file and it don't verify game files every start

Just remove " validate" from command line in your .bat file
My server doesn't appear in the community tabs under "Internet". It's a bit weird coz I used to have a csgo server before and it used to work perfectly... But at the same time I can see other servers under the "Internet" tab... Am I missing something? My friends are able to connect to the server by adding to favorites or by using connect command... But even they can't find the server listed under "Internet" in community servers list... Is 730 the right app id for generating the server token for Cs2 as well?
Valve still need to update and release the CS2 dedicated server, so for now we use 730 (the game's id) instead of 740.
I would assume as soon as they are done patching up the 740 cs2 dedicated server they'll release it. This is all we have for now.
And when they do i'll make sure to upload another video for that too :) This is the best we have for now.
they've gotten rid of sv_setsteamaccount in cs2 so you cant actually use the server token, afaik thats required to make the server public

Hello, how can you add plugins to your CS2 server? Do you need to install something beforehand? In CS:GO, I've seen Sourcemod and Metamod, but how can I install plugins on CS2?
Sourcemod and Metamod are not yet developed for Source 2 and are currently not compatible at all. TONS of work needs to be done to bring back the platforms. Right now it's still discussions of port everything as is, or recreate everything from scratch much like CS:GO to the CS2 code base.

CS:GO works with friends without a workaround. Just join each others lobby and queue a map

I followed the guide and have been able to connect to my own server, which I can see in the server browser, but when I ask my friends if they can see the server in the steam server browser they say they cant see it. Any remedies to this issue?
EDIT: they are able to connect to the server tho via the console, but I would like it to show on the server browser for them.

But in the Video you say you set a server password...and then you join the server.
I've set up a running server on one of my other systems and everything works fine.
Me and my friends can join it (through internet) and we can more or less play (more or less because of the still missing RCON function and different gamemodes we
used to play in CS:GO) but: as soon as I set a server PW nobody is able to join my server.
When trying to connect there's no possibility to enter the server PW.
Do you have any idea how to fix that...or is it just another 'bug' in the CS2 files!?

set your server password (im gonna use "asd123" as a password example), and when your friends want to join they have to put the password in the console like this: connect yourIpAddress; password asd123 (or password "asd123" no clue which one, try both but this should fix your problem)

Thank you for the guide... However, I have no admin power whatsoever when playing on another account (since the hosting account is used to host)... How do you even unban players in my own server? the server.cfg lines do not really have much room for customization

You can run "map de_dust2" for example in the console to change the map at any time.

if u connected to ur server and want use the game console type "rcon changelevel de_dust2" (but rcon isnt working right atm when u connected ur server. but from the mainmenu rcon is working fine.
