I really hate that Mastodon keeps getting dealt all these losses, but their emotional outlet is the best thing coming from the best band in this era.
Are they not just indescribably incredible? I haven't seen them live in a while, and it's killing me. It literally brings me to tears being there or knowing when I have to miss their Birmingham, AL shows. 😢 There's more to it than I care to explain here, but I don't know that I could handle it anymore knowing that she won't be there with me in the future... if you know what I mean.

Super shout out to big Brann's vocals on this but I also love how Brent nails that solo but adds his own flair to it.

M4RCi92 I used to think singing while drumming would be really hard, but I could sing and drum almost immediately when I started drumming. Took me a while to sing and play guitar.

@@M4RCi92 Starting early really helps. Like a lot of things, when you've practiced one way for a long time then throw in a new hurdle (like singing) it makes it much harder. Start early and it just feels natural.
M4RCi92 could be because I had already learned to sing/play guitar so less of a hurdle.
Just imagine what they were going through when they were playing this on his funeral... Truly amazing

But honestly a matter of opinion on whose voice is best. Brann could have the widest range but I still prefer Brent and Troy's vocals. Plus brann doesn't do heavy vocals (except for battle at sea)
Would love to hear Brent or Troy sing on this song but don't get me wrong I love branns vocals and Mastodon and at the end of the day it's just an opinion thing on who has the best voice

this brings me joy.
these fellas did a nice job of covering this...faithful for sure, much better then any other version i've heard...especially better than frank zappas' version where his band does the gtr solo in 3 part horn harmony, they turn it into a comedy number. i love zappas' stuff but this was in poor taste to say the least.
