- MMA H.E.A.T.'s Karyn Bryant sits down with former UFC Light Heavyweight Champ Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and hears what he has to say about his fight with Glover Teixeira, which took place three days earlier at the UFC on FOX 6 event on January 26th, 2013. Rampage didn't have the chance to do a post-fight interview on the broadcast, so he takes this opportunity to speak to his fans after what may have been his last fight inside the UFC's octagon. Rampage lets us know why he wants to leave the organization, what he'd like to do if he does depart and what some of his highlight moments were while he fought for the UFC. He also gives his thoughts on Glover Teixeira, his career in movies, his evolution as a fighter, his affinity for female reporters and his distaste for certain Jiu Jitsu positions.

just watched all of their interviews...HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think Karyn is in love with Rampage. She gave him fluff questions and seemed like she was working hard to be friendly to him.
This is one of the best interviews Jackson has done. Say what you want about him, but he always keeps it real
All I can think while I watch this interview..... how damn perfect it's going to be to re-watch it in a few decades. Mint.
A few decades later: Yes it is perfect
Dude, we're not your UFC fans. We're YOUR fans! I dont care where you fight. I'll watch.
YOU A KASUAL FAN DATS WHY THE SPORTS SUCCKS NOW BEVAUSE U GUYS DONT KNOW ANYTHING
Realest dude in MMA. Love him or hate him it sucked to see him go. Really was an end of an era.
I've never like him before, but after this interview I realize that he is such a nice person, a natural human being not some commercial ass licking egoistic hater who wants to make a successful career as most of the people in this world. I wish him success !
I like karyn Bryant, she doesn't seem as wooden as other reporters, just like she's having a conversation with him. Rampage is the best personality in the ufc too and she brings out the best interviews with him
rampage is one of the realest coolest people alive and him and paul daley are my favorite fighters because they always goes out to entertain. they don't worry about none of that other BS, they go out there every fight to put on a great show
How could you not like Rampage.....Legend
That's why I respect this brotha (outside of the ring also). He keeps it REAL!!
Its fucked up watching this now when this past UFC Fight Night every single fighter was wearing Reebok brand shorts.
Jackson has matured a lot. He deserves more respect as a fighter, he was such a beast especially in his pride days
I forgot to mention his Trueness too, he speaks most of the time with his hearth on his hands. Immortality for G.O.D. RAMPAGE!!!
Ill always watch Rampage, who ever he fights for. Always entertaining!!!
rampage is always cool to me. we all go through ups and down (wins and lost). i will always watch him. i hope he does well where ever he goes
That fight was honestly the best I seen Rampage in a while. One thing that needs to change in UFC is worrying about wins and losses so much. Dana needs to realize people will ALWAYS tune in for guys like Rampage regardless of a loss streak or not
Going to miss Rampage in the UFC, he is one of the reasons I started watching the promotion. Great interview, good luck with the recovery. Also Karyn Bryant is quickly becoming one of my favorite combat sports journalist, she has a great way of getting the fighters to open up.
Hope to see Rampage fight again. There are a few good fights for him elsewhere, be cool to see him back in Japan fighting for Dream.
My favorite Rampage fight was when he faced Dan Henderson at UFC 75. That Rampage would taken anybody.
Thanks for the interview and being a good sport with Rampage, hilarious and great interview!
The only reporter who Rampage can relax around and be himself. He likes Karyn, she brings the best responses out of fighters in interviews. Fucking Brilliant Karyn, high five!
Wow, Rampage is a really cool down to earth guy. I wish more MMA fighters came out about corrupt ass promoters and speak their minds like him.
I thought he was getting slow. I didn't know his knees were having really bad issues. I hope the best for him. Personally I liked him in the movies, but he's a fighter. I hope he'll be good anywhere he goes. Do a comedy-action movie.
How can you not love Rampage. Thank you for entertaining us for more then a decade cuz. Real MMA fans respect you and put you on the list of elite fighters.
I think Rampage could make a good living as a commentator if he played his cards right. His personality carries a lot of weight in the MMA community, and I for one find him quite entertaining.
Do you like dragons?
Maan, I'm going to miss Rampage in the UFC. I hope he comes back and gets that fight he wanted with Shogun. He's always entertaining in fights and in interviews. And if you look at some of his loses, the Rashad fight could have been closer if he didn't do the movie and the Bader fight? I think Rampage didn't have to fight in Japan with the bad knee, but he took the fight and did it anyways, to put on a show for the Japanese fans. Not a lot of guys would do that. Much respect for Rampage.
This is probably the best Rampage interview I've ever seen.
I always enjoyed watching Rampage. Good luck in the future Rampage!
Rampage is always gonna be one of my all time favorite fighters along with Wanderlei, Shogun, and Fedor, one of those few fighters that fought all comers
They didnt even give him a proper send off after they announced the winner....thats sad, RAMPAGE U STILL THE MAN!!!
I meet him at an airport somewhere and asked him for a pic and he said "yes just don`t make it so obvious" and I said to him "that`s" ok I won`t put you on the spot and the cool thing is that he did not say no. I respect that and yes he deserves his space!
I really enjoyed this. Had me rolling for the most part but he said some real stuff on here too.
He seems so much more at peace, and relieved, I think he'll be much better away from UFC
I really like and respect how open and honest this guy is.
Bryant always gives good interviews and this is no exception. On a side note (and not of any particular importance), did anyone else notice that Rampage's mic was panned right and Karyn Bryant's is panned left?
Rampage is the best of the best, this man has nothing to prove in the UFC or MMA period. He's fought in PRIDE against warriors, he has fought many wars as he said. The UFC isn't the place for him anymore, he can whoop ass somewhere else and get treated like the fighter/person that he is. Rampage has made a name for himself in the MMA world, he dominated in the UFC and he has whooped all over the globe. My respect for him is ridiculous
Dunno how didn't you understand that he meant after filming the movie he fully focused on fighting, but his body wasn't ready for the highest level competition after a long break when he couldn't work out.
dont go dude, your still a young man, you can get in the mix again.. give it 2 years
than you karyn for doing these interviews and just being an interesting interviewer. keep up with the good content. :)
Rampage is an all-time favorite and always will be! Great guy. Humble in defeats and always respectful and real. Great down to earth guy and a good model for the sport.
I agree with Quinton when he says he's "one dimensional". The sport has evolved & he doesn't have the tools to compete with top fighters.
I loved this interview. That was epic and I have finally understood the relationship between rampage and karyn.
Im a huge rampage fan. Been a fan of his since his pride days. Hes a real fighter and a real person. for example he even asked if the sirel from the cop car was bothering them and that they wanted to pause. Things like that just shows you that he really cares.
UFC fighters dont make enough money imo. Alot of fighters say they they're underpaid.
Gonna miss Rampage in UFC but hopefully he can get better and move on. He still has something left in the tank.
I hate that hes going! but im happy for him! i was waiting till i was 21 to go see him! im 20 now and 21 in august. this guy is amazing! pride and ufc. amazing guy!
Good interview karyn thanks for doing it. Rampage is my favorite fighter hands down glad he's in a positive place!!
Great work Karyn... You are definitely the Barbara Walters of MMA News! I mean that in the most positive way... You give us the most in depth, and personal interviews. Thanks for sharing Rampage with us!
I will follow Rampage in whatever he does, he's funny and entertaining and I love him. Cheers Rampage!!!
You're a legend Rampage. I'm getting choked up as i write this.
Rampage beat the shit out of Machida with those epic foot stomps, brah. Landing combinations, take downs, mounting and attempting a submission doesn't mean shit next to getting your toes stomped on in the clinch.
still a fan of rampage, great work karyn...
"train like I used to train back in the day" He says this before every fight
Rampage's boxing looked great in this fight, he's never thrown combinations like that before from what I've watched. They weren't just single power shots these were multi punch combinations. I don't think he should go into boxing, I think he should try another organization but more importantly... evolve if he wants to stay current. (just my opinion)
I'm glad to hear that he is reinventing him self :)
Same here. Love Rampage. The reason why i started watching MMA.
man i love rampages attitude, i hate how a lot of fighters are trying to out point people. I'm a much bigger fan of someone who looses a lot but has crazy fights(Wandy, Rampage, and Diaz type guys) than a GSP type guy who just tries to score points and win decisions. just my opinion i know that its all part of the sport i just love finishers and guys who fight with heart
quote from Dana White: Rampage made around 15,2 milj US dollar.
I think we can all agree, he doesnt need to fight anymore if he has saved his money right.
Correlation doesn't imply causation. Just cause GSP doesn't finish doesn't mean he doesn't want to. He has a different skill set then Wandy and Rampage. Wandy and Rampage will be remembered as great exciting fighters. GSP will be remembered as the greatest welterweight that's ever lived.
This was the most serious I've ever seen Rampage. The guy is the truth. Most of the people that make stupid comments about Rampage probably do not know anything about him, or they just decide to remain clueless. It's guys like him, Tito Ortiz, BJ Penn, and Randy Couture who are willing to stand up for what they believe and be outcasted are the ones that pave the way for other people.
I gotta admit, I love R.Jackson's personality !
I think it's amazing people thumbed this down considering what I said was fine.
I don't even dislike Karyn, I was just arguing that the guy's logic was flawed when he put down the other guy.
" nobody likes to miss a chance to be pissed off"-my neighbor
I'm not doubting that he wasn't focused when he was actually training, but taking 5 months off from A to do be B means you're not focused enough on A.
awesome - great interview, Rampage is just a real dude.
BUT, I like him WHEN he fights. I boxed for 20 years and know that fighting takes it's toll on your body and maybe that's why we haven't seen the 'real' Rampage.
Rampage isn't one dimensional ....he just forgot his wrestling base and left it at the waist side. If he left that dam Wolf's Lair he might get back to basics and start on his winning ways again. Win or lose doesn't matter to me Quinton is still the face of the force I care about. Hope he does greater things :)
You're right. He's not the only person who's not happy w/ their job. But at the same time he's not the only person who's expressed disapointment. However, Rampage did something that most who complain fail to do. He left his job & decided to start over. That's something worth respecting. If you aren't happy w/ your situation & its something you can control change it. If reporters are interviewing him asking him questions what should he then say? He's not being a pussy. They asked so he answered.
thanks for everything Rampage
and thank you Karyn for giving him the opportunity to express himself the way he wants to
Damn. I just learned something about him. I think (from observing myself, easily shooting 3's,but afraid to miss a layup)Missed the fight in Memphis, but flourishes far away, in Japan. Heard and felt(maybe a coincidence, I doubt it)(said with love)
RAMPAGE ALWAYS A LEGEND
Thanks for all the entertaining fights through the years Quinton
Love you rampage, i was laughing my ass of in this interview and i was busting up when you raised your hand after the Glover fight that was awesome keep at it man. I'm broke now but when i get some money i'm going to come train at your gym in mission viejo.
rampage will always stay the best ligth heavyweigth for me
Awesome interview. Rampage is so funny, i love that guy. Rampage being rampage is what people love seeing, him being interviewed is always a little awkward but man that dragon joke had me in stitches :)
"But in the meanwhile...you still have nuts on your face." LOL, Quinton killed it with that one.
Rampage is the Peoples Champ!Down to earth and speaks his mind-
why do you guys use a left right stereo image for the interview?? it's messed up!
how can you say he sucks looking back at all his accomplishments and the competition that he is/has gone against. its not like he's fighting some random in the street its professional fighting, people who do nothing but train how about showing some more respect.
However, those are fighters of today. Fighters leading the way of the new breed of fighters in the UFC. When Rampage earned the 15 million over 6 fights (I know you say it was 12 but I remember him saying 6) Rampage was one of the few fighters who were doing the slams and knockouts the ferocity that has become the trademark stamp of Rampage calibre
Thanks for those great fights man !.. thanks for the press conf and interviews full of "do you like dragons? stuff" :))))) anyway best of wishes.
Couldn't agree more man - his fights with Wanderlei are what got me interested in MMA!
Rampage = Greatest Of All Time!
If it was a PPV they probably would've interviewed him post-fight. It's different when the show is on Fox. When you watch the FX and Fox cards, not everyone gets an interview like on the PPV. It all comes down to when the commercials are lined up.
Rampage 4ever. Still the man.
This sadness is not about money...a fighter cant never stop. Its a little bit of his soul he gives away. Only his body wil cant go further
I just love Rampage!!!!!!!!! AMAZING FIGHTER AND CRAZY FUNNY!!!!!!!
Rampage dude, it´s true. Us fans do love you and we hope you´ll come back soon.
Danah White has no beef with you so don´t talk yourself out of the opportunity in the UFC. Take some time off and get back to your glory days. Get more rounded and end your career on a high note. Do it for us man. Your fans.
I loved Jones' comment at the media event last week about knee kicks: Fighters are trying to give him brain damage, giving them a limp for the rest of their life seems like a fair trade off.
The Hooks, Old Slams, the Jokes, the Wolf War-Cry and the dry-humpings and Feint-Guards of RAMPAGE Will be forever remembered!!! He probably would crack a joke about today blackzylians losses, Big Foot was Epic on Alistair...i bet he could make a pretty good Reem fall impersonation too...AAAAUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!
Rampage logic: I took 5 months off from fighting, where I didn't do anything associated with fighting, but this doesn't demonstrate a lack of focus on fighting.
You weren't focused because you weren't training. ITS PRETTY FUCKING SIMPLE.
I like serious Rampage, he's very genuine
My four favorite fighters no matter what : GSP Rampage Edgar Velasquez
Great interview from the Best.
wicked stuff as always...lots of love from ireland:)
Rampage will be missed!
I hate to see rampage leaving, he was so much fun ...
Dam Karyn, you have a way with words
thats why you are teh best reporter. You just put that the bets way anyone could. Its just sad you had to actually explain it.
He's the poster boy for the expression "Money can't buy you happiness". I like Rampage but he has to step down because he just can't be competative against the best in the world.
