    I have seen a few comments mentioning the fact you can hold Q to lower/raise your weapon when using gunslinger, and quite frankly I did know and should have mentioned it in the video and I'm not sure why I didn't. But when it comes to holding Q I honestly find it to be inconsistent, finicky, and generally a worse alternative to just using Hunter. While gunslinger has the Q function the control scheme wasn't designed with that specific function in mind. Second thing, there is a setting to leave your shouldered FOV at the same as your lowered FOV and that is just a mistake on my part, so sorry about that guys. Not sure how I missed these two things and I apologize.

      Eh, I've become distinctly aware of scenarios where my gun might clip through a wall, so holding Q is basically fine for me. Hipfire at the ready is basically a better state to be in in most intense conflict scenarios.
      I think a reason most pro hunt players/ CZcams videos still use hunter is because well, there was a time when there WASNT gunslinger, so they've adapted already?

    • @mozkuthehermit5909

      Q holding sounds absolutely inconsistent way to play, like you already deny your chances on strafing left because you are holding one button down, plus Gunslinger has you holding weapon up all times mostly so you are blocking right side of screen.
      When holding weapon up, your BARREL of a gun can be seen over corners and THROUGH WALLS
      Melee'ing as Gunslinger makes you already remap your melee button from V to somewhere else
      WIth Hunter, just left click, that is faster, no need to press q all times to keep weapon down and you can strafe when ever you need, no need to remap melee button because you just left click
      Hunter has advantage on said problems that Gunslinger has, your weapon barrel can gets you killed but Hunter automatically keeps your weapon down, so this doesn't happen
      Advantages on Hunter scene are noticeable when you start playing much more higher ranks

    Many good streamers admit that nowadays this difference isn't that big anymore and it's down to the person's preference. Many of them say they just stick to hunter because at first that was the only control scheme and they are used to it.
    Also, having your gun up has the advantage that you hip fire without a second button press. It gives you the extra speed advantage over ADS users you want when you are using shotguns or are fanning/levering.

There are ways to get all the same benefits as hunter on gunslinger, why would I add an extra input to pull up my weapon followed by a seperate input for ADS, the only reason people still play Hunter is A. They are just used to it, or B. They want to get used to it because it feels more unique.

      @@duskworker8469 I'd say adding an extra step to ADS in a game that doesn't have great hipfire is probably a similar tradeoff. Realistically, the FOV tradeoff can be mitigated with a setting and the in-between zoom of hipfire makes very little gameplay difference unless you're really anal about it and playing something like a shotty or magdump perks, in which case the zoom is more of a hinderance with faster relative movement and closer range. If you're just out in the open trying to get a better look at something, ADS is functionally identical aside situations where the gun model is abnormally obtrusive.

    - 6:34 Most Hunt streamers use the Hunter control scheme, because they either started Hunt before the addition of the Gunslinger control scheme to the game, or (most importantly) because they started Hunt before the most recent control scheme retouch, in 2021.
    What I say about the two control schemes today: With the aforementioned retouch, both control schemes can be considered the same overall (in terms of the options available to them), but they have different starting point.

      Gunslinger can gets you killed because your gun barrel is poking over corners and through walls, with Hunter this is not a issue, because your gun is down automatically
      No accidental fire, you do not need remap new button just to melee monsters, just left click is faster or even pvp situations when you are that rare situation near player, just left click
      Yea Gunslinger has its perks but those are minimal when you remember that Hunt is more than PVP shooter, there is also PVE elements and area awareness, you cant have your weapon block right side of your screen all times can you? That gets you killed real quick and i learned this hard way

    • @dem4xed
      @dem4xed Před rokem

      Yeah no. It's about the fact what you need more often. Hipfire or downed weapon. If you choose gunslinger, you are basically saying "I constantly need hipfire and only take my weapon down on special occasions", which there is for me no good reason for. You need melee and downed weapons all the time, but hipfire only in fights.

    • @MrHoodlin
      @MrHoodlin Před rokem +3

      1: You can manually lower your gun when approaching corners.
      2: Accidental fire only occurs for noobs. If you're a noob, then Gunslinger will be easier for you overall.
      3: Most games require you to bind a button for melee, so this is not a new issue.
      4: Left click is not faster, because there are plenty of other buttons that you can click just as fast.
      5: There is a lot of unused screen space above your crosshair that you can utilize in order to bypass the issue of your gun blocking you view. If you're in a situation where you need to have your gun raised for pvp, then it doesn't matter, because you would have your gun raised anyways when using Hunter mode.
      There is no disadvantage in using gunslinger mode, because the only difference is needing to hold to keep your gun lowered or needing to hold keeping your gun raised. You wouldn't notice a thing if you were watching me play with gunslinger on while keeping my weapon lowered.

Then there's the 2% of 6 stars that actually know most mechanics and can headshot you through a wall just by hearing your foot steps. Competitive is more down to playstyle, aim and mechanics.If you want to be more competitive it shouldn't matter if you use hunter or gunslinger, more so if you allow to left peak instead of right peak. (alone because of the delay u have when shooting out of movement/sprint) so yeah if you say its designed for the hunter style and the game is meant to sit behind a stone, pressing your 56 buttons to ads your weapon---> yes then its better with hunter. but just only then. maybe its because im a noob in this game and i really dont mean that offensive or something but are you really trying to say that pressing more buttons before u can shoot precise is better then pressing no button? because that is what you are doing in this vid. (but not only you...many videos suggest that, as if now...after decades of fps games...the makers of hunt came to the genius idea pressing more buttons before shooting improves any kind of skill? i really cant believe that.) in every video im waiting for the big upside of the hunter-style...something like...your weapon is 20% more accurate or you reload faster or anything that has value. but all i hear is "if you camp behind a wall/in a building noone can see your gun!") well if thats the downside of gunslinger, i can live with that. because if i know it...i dont stand directly next to a wall then. if really most good players are playing hunter-style, i maybe should stick to it because then there are not many players with fps experience in that game then. also the fov thing....i play on max fov...so i should have compensated the fact that i use gunslinger...or? i really have no experience in that game but just out of logic...such a "style" can never be better. or do i oversee anything? upsides of hunter are just the weapon glitches through a wall and slightly more fov? please say yes then the case is closed for me :D

If I can kill you and your whole squad while you're playing gunslinger and I'm playing hunter, what does that say about your "FPS pro level experience" and I don't camp at all. If you need to play gunslinger because you aren't fast enough to press an extra button, that's fine. Me? I won't get caught with my pants down fumbling to raise my gun because I won't put myself in that position. Bottom line is, hunter or gunslinger, it's subjective. There is no benefit to using either mode besides a small adjustment to the way you play the game.

Gunslinger can still lower there gun, there's a sepurate button for melee like most games have and you can literally just turn off the FOV zoom. My guy you can hold down a key to lower the weapon out of hip fire when using gunslinger mode...
    all it does is remove a lot of the janky interactions with throwables/tools/consumables where you have to ready it up before using it. It makes switching to your tools/consumables then using them something you can do almost instantly but in hunter there are certain ones where an extra key input is require before it can be used.
    I feel like in a game where shit goes from 0 to 100 within a fraction of a second at times, you need to be able to cut down on the amount of time it takes to do things.
    I feel like a lot of the top guys are using hunter because earlier on in the hunt showdown lifespan you werent able to lower the weapon while using gunslinger? If someone can confirm id appreciate it. But it just seems odd to me that people advocate for hunter where the default state is lowered, meaning if you have to switch to idk, a choke bomb, or a healing item, or whatever, you bring it out in a lowered state, so you need to then raise it to hip fire state before you can use that item. Where in gunslinger even if you have your weapon lowered, if you switch to a healing item, or some other tool/consumable, you dont need to ready it up before using it, you can just send that flash bomb down main and ruin someones day. Or if youre like me you can whip out one of your 3 concertina bombs and block another exit out of the boss room when the people who just killed the boss are trying to leave, and then promptly switch back to one of your two bows that you have concertina arrows and frag arrows equipped on both, and start flinging random bullshit into that room until the guys in there decide its not such a fun activity and they would rather be doing something else...

    Kinda misleading with FOV, you can set FOV for SHOULDER AIM and LOWERED WEAPON to Default, so there is no difference in FOVs at all... Hunter is such shitty scheme for someone who played decades of FPS games, it fucks your muscle memory, so unintuitive. No point switching to Hunter for people who play other FPSes, since you can set FOVs as you want. Binding ADS or Shoulder Aim is weird AF, just use Q in Gunslinger and move on sheesh, it works like Holstering in other FPS games like PUBG or APEX. I play mostly R6 nowadays but i keybind my stuff like in R6 now in almost all FPS games which is V for melee, C for toggle crouch, CTRL for prone, if there is ofcourse. Q and E for leans, if there are any, or Q and E for nades, skills. The only thing to change is to seperate Vault and Jump like in PUBG, which gives benefits for window jumping without animation lock.

    • @maverickiwnl
      @maverickiwnl  Před rokem

      You're correct about the FOV part but I have also played FPS games for an extremely long time, my main game is CS which I have over 7K hours in and I've played thousands of hours in other FPS games. It really isn't that difficult to learn, it just takes time to learn it. Using Q to lower your weapon is what's unintuitive. When you're in a gun fight you need to constantly lower and raise your weapon for a multitude of different reasons and using Q is extremely janky. Using gunslinger actively makes the game harder for yourself. Saying it fucks with your muscle memory is literally just a cop out to rationalize wanting to stay comfortable and not have to change anything since its "just as good," therefore not progressing. But hey, this comment isn't gonna change your mind but just thought I should throw it out there.

      @@maverickiwnl Like i mentioned APEX, PUBG, also COD:WZ and many other BR FPS games have Stowing/Holstering/Lowering weapon under a button mechanics and most got Melee keybind (every time on console it is R3, on PC it's V, F, or B) But i can't find a game where i need to bind a key for Crosshair/Shoulder Aim or Bind ADS to a freaking Shift. Majority of games have similar scheme so people don lose that muscle memory. ADSing with w SHIFT and not with a RIGHT mouse button is JANKY AF, i know you can switch around, but i still need to bind a button for normal aiming which is super odd... Gunslinger offers with Q same mechanic as APEX with keybind 3, same as COD:WZ that has 3, PUBG with keybind X and so on ( i won't name less popular games, no point here, but they share similar schemes) And it doesn't have to be Q, you can bind anywhere, it is mechanic that matters and is shared along many other games. You played CS a lot, but aparently you didn't play other games that much to have that comparison and CS is tac shooter not an open world BR styled game.

      Once you get used to hunter i find it objectively better. But how long that takes can vary by player. Maybe some people will never get it to be automatic. I suspect for many payers it's not worth the time to train it.
      But for me, my overall speed and movement improved ten fold once I got hunter rolling. It forces faster play and more deliberate actions. I went from 4 to now full time 6 star after the switch. It just made me so much faster. (i mean this is like 1.5k hours ago, but it really sped me up)
      -Not to mention, higher FOV without active effort (lower button for gunslinger - which i rarely see used in the heat of battle/between shots. whereas with hunter, it just happens once you release all input)
      -i cant tell you how many wall bang kills i get on gunslinger players because their barrels are poking! It's insane. Maybe one/two a game? Sometimes more.
      -Melee with left click and thus transition back into guns is so fast and slick with hunter. My melee game went from zero to hero after hunter.
      All i can say is for people to at least give it a try. Play hunter for a week or something. No harm to try. But thus far, anyone who I have gotten to tried it for a week or so.. has never gone back
