I grew up in a garage I was doing lof at age 7 and motor and trans swaps by age 10 with dad watching over me and at age 12 I was doing the jobs by myself with him double checked my work age 15 I was on my own now 40 and unfortunately crippled up on bed rest but I miss working and I miss the ol man

Great to see Phipstarman back, welcome back brother! I think that little thing is cool, nice restoration guy's! You were definitely to gung-ho on the water, should have just about let it idle to go through the water. Maybe a little gas would have been okay. Richard should just keep it and add it to your mini collection of vehicles. I loved this Penguin, but for it to be a true Penguin it needed to be Black & White with perhaps a tad of orange/yellow... and maybe even a decal of Pingu too.

My Grandfather bought one of these when I was a kid to use for hunting, didn't keep it long as he thought it was too unsafe (especially for his grandkids) but I remember riding in it - first time I've seen one since then, so thanks for the memories

We Canadians like to do it right! When puddle jumping a sled across open water you always tape a water jug to the front of the craft and tie it off to the front, if your going down rip the jug off and then you'll find it later for recovery.

They also came in blue or green with the white top, and the industrial model was all yellow. The prototypes were black and white and that is how/when they got the name "Penguin".

My nephew who is kind of like your brother (may as well be 2 years apart) one time bought a CJ-5 and he drove the crap out of it. He was drunk with some friends and decided not sure why? drove up a haystack and flipped it. Then he high centered it on a log way out in the middle of nowhere and had to walk out in the rain for 8 hours to the nearest highway to hitch a ride. Both times fortunately I wasn't with him. Not that into riding with him when he was drunk way back when. Now we are both retired. He is like a church going guy now. Even after a drink he can just walk next door from his farm to the church.
