I feel my dog. I came up the same way. Never was home more then 9 months from14-27 years old. Now I'm 38 and been promoting positive thru my past. The cuffs are symbols of where you came from and never going back.
I'm 44 been out the streets since 07 but a couple of my friends still going thru the bs and they are mad at me for not accepting calls etc man I've been doing the shit since 90 can't any more.

I did 20 years and I’ve sat on the same federal bus (U.S. marshals) with those same cuffs on .
I’ve been home for 4 years now and I still remind myself of what I went through in there.
My first year home, I had a book of stamps in my wallet.
Looked at it from time to time to remind myself what failure would mean for me.
