    The funny thing with the alpha legion is that it's possible they're double agents against chaos, or maybe loyal to chaos, or since they had two primarchs each could have joined either side and fought a war of subversion within their own legion.

      hmm thats what makes them interesting, but you would figure someone would know if they are double agents against chaos. I am not saying everyone would need to know but a few, just in case everyone thinks they are traitors and goes and hunts them down and attack them when in reality they are double agents and working against chaos.

      I think it's most probably that they cut off the snakes head and they don't even know anymore. Think about it, they are all part of a vast ridiculous conspiracy where they regularly have their agents wipe their own minds, or have information only surface under the right conditions. It could have been programmed in the style of the Foundation, to work over the course of thousands of years or under the influence of the Cabal. But like the Dark Angels over time lost access to some of their Hosts and Orders due to heavy losses, its even crazier when you learn about Alpha legion command structure. They train as multimodal specialists, and are perfectly willing to let their command structure be mutable, devoted moreso to the relentless self sacrifice in service of a scheme a faceless, possibly inexperienced brother of theirs puppets behind the scenes. It's closer to an ad hoc anarchists' collective, though made up of people continually entering, exiting and managing cult deprograming or winter soldier program shit.
      Why in gods name would they know who they serve. Even when their legion did, a great many of their own soldiers didn't, they were placed throughout the other legions, traitor and loyalist to turn when needed. Do you know how much work it would take to infiltrate a legion today- back then at least there were hundreds of thousands of people in Blue armor. I think they have a self perpetuating need to scheme and destabalize - but possibly are like Radical inquisitors of the Istvaanian or Horusian doctrine, who basically believe without catastrophic threats occurring under the right conditions the Imperium can never be moved from it's corrupt and inefficient system, so often they will allow (or help) a cult take over a world, so they can crusade back through it having found their weakest links. and they are set up to do such things on autopilot taking genecoded or other directions to prevent them from following dangerous plans without just wiping out a whole branch of their legion. It's thought by the end of the heresy they may have numbered as many or more than the Ultramarines who were by far the largest, because they set up secret offside recruitment and construction centers throughout the galaxym they had one of the best fleets and secret yards to maintain them, but the true fear is even they don't know how big their faction is, or who would be formally in charge if their primarch's died because they were set up as sleeper cells.
      TLDR: they don't have to have any clue who they are loyal to to fufill their role as a spoiler for chaos.

    There is a story of the Alpha Legion brainwashing a recruitment world of a chapter, then when the recruits were full marines they activated them and wiped out the chapter. Or the time the High Lords sent 6 Vindicare assassins after prime alpha legion targets and they later found all the assassins’ heads in their fridge… on Terra, in the high lords palace!

    • @EvenSteven
      @EvenSteven  Před rokem +4

      wait really? 6 assassins sent and only their heads came back? that does not seem like an easy thing to do, taking out 6 vindicare assassins. Now i want to know how that happened and how did they catch them and place them in with the high lords/

      @@EvenSteven much like how many likes it takes to get to the center of a tootsie pop, the world my never know. Lack of information on the Alpha Legion is standard, GW likes to keep their spy boys mysterious.

    The ubiquity of the Ultramarines can be primarily laid on Matt Ward, a lead writer (or at least someone of high rank in the creative department) at Games Workshop under whose tenure the Ultramarines took on large amounts of Mary Sue-ism thanks to them being his personal favorite faction.

    World Eaters, despite all having Butcher's Nails in their heads, had the highest loyalist to traitor ratio of all traitor legions during the heresy. This shows how noble they were, that even as mindless berserkers a big chunk of them still remained loyal (and also shows how much they hated Angron)

    • @EvenSteven
      @EvenSteven  Před rokem

      So what happens to those of a traitor chapter that do not turn traitor and remain loyal? probably moved to another chapter? or put as outcasts?

    • @provenbeat3395
      @provenbeat3395 Před rokem +2

      @@EvenSteven Most died during the heresy, those that lived have moved to Blackshields, a chapter of loyalist marines that wear black unmarked armor. They check new recruits for any sign of corruption, and if you pass - you carry on serving the Empire without anyone knowing what legion you were from, traitor or not.
      Some just formed small groups and went vigilante to do their own thing, some were found and imprisoned.

    There are other Space Marine chapters that along with normal humans like the Ultramarines (alot of the Ultramarines interact with the populace of their homeworld they call civilians the Emperors Subjects) and Blood Angels, but they don't go to the extreme like the Salamander do.
    Salamanders don't get along with space marine chapters like The Iron Hands, the Minotaurs, the Marines Malevolent that don't like normal human like.

    • @EvenSteven
      @EvenSteven  Před rokem

      oh i am sure a lot of space marines chapters do like the humans or populace, probably not as extreme as the salamanders. But i am sure they see how useful they are, seeing how these are the people probably building our bullets and other machines. As other chapters just want to be seen as demi gods and everyone is just a peasant

    you should watch Baldermorts video on the night lords and the alpha legion both highlight very well what the 2 are all about. What kind of messed up sadists the night lords are and how insidious and thorough the alpha legion is with it's sleeper agents.
