In a way it does, the 120v 15a (1800w) system america uses is limited as it needs larger cables to supply the same amount of power, where's the 240v 13a (3200w) sockets used in England can supply more power, if three phase where used 415v would charge the car using a small cable (16a - 9000w), the power used would make the cable too large to be practical using the american 120/240v system (40a@240 , 80a@120).

Just do what even those who build their own short range ev's do: Drive the electric the 90+% of the time you don't need the range and drive the dino drinker the other times. BTW: "range anxiety" was coined by GM as an excuse not to make a pure EV! Why not disagrigate info on EV sales/manufacture. No big company has put equal effort into their EV's as they have their dino drinker. None.

I think by "ferry" he's talking about a car carrier like a train you sit on with your car (the Euro-Tunnel trains do this).
