    Yeah, as someone who has driven a tractor in circles for much of my life :) ... I can say they had some kind of problem with their binder. Somebody didn't do a test bail and check it, but honestly, you could tell the moment they stacked it by the slump that stuff wasn't rolled tight at all. I can't believe you made it as far as you did. Great work!!

    I’m a hay producer and I have my own semi and step deck. You definitely don’t want to go on the road with any bales leaning outboard. Your problem is the bales on the bottom they are out of round shape and getting really flat cause in your top bale to lean outboard. Watch the loading of the hay and when it’s picked up if the bottom of the bale loses shape have it loaded on the top row. All your bottom rows need to be very tight bales. As you drive these bales will settle and become flat on the bottom side. As you may need to check and redo your straps every several 100 miles or so. There are people who bale big square bales 4 x 4 and even bigger and they transport much easier then round bales. I use edge protectors on the square bales and pull them really tight.

Every new load will have lessons. At least your company knows that the load was not rolled properly and should have never been loaded on your truck. Well you will know for next time. I would like to know what kind of a company would put a new driver on a load assignment like that, without the proper training. Remember, it is your CDL and your life. If something bad happens to your fellow motorists, they are not the ones that would face potential prison time for criminal charges for negligent homicide.

    when you are strapping square bales of hay at the end off them you should cross them that will make them strong and safe

    Well Becca, that sucked. You are surely Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice, but if you're going to make it in a man's world you'll have to start putting the screws into these guys. You can't always be the "nice sweet young thing." Business is business. They'll take advantage of you every time if you let them. Time is money and when you have to wait for your truck to cool down from pulling bricks then stop a dozen times to tighten hay that wasn't bailed right, then try to have unprofessional equipment work a miracle, you're gong to lose money. You will have to harden off a little to make it. Ask your family how to deal with these amateurs, they'll know, they've been there. OK, Fine Business young lady and thank you for sharing, I keep you in my prayers and hope for the best for you. ben/ michigan.

      @therockpile6734 like I said, the old farmer we bought hay from was way tighter than those. The ones on Becca's trailer were all loose. It's not just inconsistency, if they are all like that.

    • @therockpile6734
      @therockpile6734 Před rokem

      @@SkolValkyrie they get loose from being stored on their sides, they hold shape better when stored on end also those bale spikes make a mess of bales, squeeze bale handlers are better for loading. She didn't have the load strapped front to back to lock the bales in either but it was her first time so can't fault her for that.

    • @SkolValkyrie
      @SkolValkyrie Před rokem +1

      @therockpile6734 ok sure, my hubby runs stepdeck and flat bed, he would have rejected that load. There are way better hay loads to haul. Baled correctly, those would never have been like that, no matter how they are stacked. Just the fact they couldn't even be stacked 2 high without wanting to tip tells you they were mushy bales. There is nothing she could have done to strap that any better. Like I said, she would have had every right to reject that load. That mess is on the broker and the buyer that wanted cheap hay, and probably still paid too much. He got shorted probably 100-200lbs per bale of hay by buying loosely baled hay. Hopefully Becca marked that broker off the list.

    Mine does this also . All you do is cut the truck off for a min & it’ll work again when start . The problem is the gear selector D/N/R

    Whoop whoooop!! 😂 hey Bec!!! Glad to see your doing well but the truck not so much ehhh it’s okay though (not really) was just in Virginia like 3 days ago dropped off some Molly Concrete in Newell I have a load going to MD, Baltimore to the ports of americas with CAT parts that are going to Europe but whoop whoooop just happy to see big rig Bec doing well but truck stuff always happens hate it bc then we can’t get the miles we wanna drive but that’s crazy I’ve always wanted to see how hay bails were strapped down that’s crazy but be safe and keep on smiling and laughing 😭

    Loose bails like that do better standing on end four on four or whatever fits your trailer. Strap them horizontally in clumps and then strap each clump across like you had them to keep them from sliding around on the trailer. If you can overlap the second tier, they will help hold the whole mess together. Better to have hay to hay then the slippery plastic wrap. That is why your load shifted.

    You can use ramps as load levelers,if u do it rite. Stand them up rite, secure then to trl

    Was the load leaning or were you leaning from all the Indian food, which you didn’t show us by the way.

    The next time you haul hay like this put the straps across the top in an X pattern. The strap hooked to the trailer on the left side at the front crosses over the top and hooks to the trailer on the right side at the rear of each bundle. That will help hold front-to-back movement as well as side-to-side.

      Also put tarps in between 1st of top hay bales jst incase it starts 2 rain!!!!!

    • @chrisastin184
      @chrisastin184 Před rokem +1

      The only problem was the bales themselves. If they weren’t baled so loose then the straps would have been fine.

  • @johnathanscafella9361

    just fyi next time you pull round bails two strap front two strap back and one every either bail tarp the load and then run strap from front to back one on the left and one one the right and dont pull your straps so tight hay moves the tighter you strap it the more it is going to loosen up been hauling hay for round and square for 20 years just trying to help

    Get yourself a strap winder . They sell them at truck stops. Hooks onto the rub rail. Will save you alot of time and make rolling straps easier. They also sell stake pocket winches that you could use on the other side of the trailer. Or just get a few ratches
