Yeah if you were doing brake lines quite frequently, that's the way to go. Trying to do a single flare and getting it to seal can be challenging. Several of my cars I've used compression fittings over the years for rusted lines. Just to get by. Thanks for sharing this video, it's good to know.

I would toss out that single flare kit. Like compression fittings, they are a lawsuit waiting to bite you. Cheap double flare kits are widely available, and if you use Nicopp lines they are easy even without an expensive flaring tool.

FYI, all brake lines and fuel lines need to be double flared. You never use single flare and don't use the "but it worked" answer. If that's the case, you got lucky. I'm not trying to be confrontational, but it is a safety issue for you and anybody driving or riding in a vehicle where you used a single flare on a high pressure line, not to mention someone else who could be collateral damage from a failed line. Also, never use a compression fitting to repair brake lines for the same reason. Compression fittings are not made to withstand high pressures, and again, if someone says they've used them without a problem, they got lucky. I've been spinning wrenches for well over forty years and I have seen where people have used single flares that failed with deadly consequences. Please, do not risk using single flares on high pressure steel lines.

The single is used by plumbers as well as installing gas service to heaters and appliances

    Am I wrong?
I swear I answered Mechanic A, when he said ALL brake lines need to be double flared…
