  • Today on the smallholding I am building a raised bed in the no dig garden using twin walled concrete blocks. I am hoping that going forward the raised beds will make weeding etc easier for my poor back and also make growing root vegetables like carrots and parsnips easier as I have very stoney ground under my beds.

This is a great idea. For a similar price a bed that won't rot away after a few years.

Brilliant idea. You could even make a little kneeling stool out of 4 x 2 timber on edge with some wood across the top to fit on the top, the same size as the blocks which would clear your plants .

Looks amazing I’m on the hunt for blocks for my garden omg since more people are into gardening the price of gardening has gone through the roof 😢. Have a great day and thank you for sharing, Ali ☔️☔️🇨🇦

I thought a bit of a waste of space then you filled the gaps with compost and potted Stawberries .... brilliant! The width of the blocks should work well, my second plot is sectioned by breeze blocks which topple to easy as they are narrower, but do produce nice clean paths.

Yeah I know what you mean I’ve used the thinner concrete blocks before about 4” ish I think and as you say a bit unstable
Yeah these are just under 30kg each and I think 8-9” wide so take a lot to topple over
Hopefully planting in the holes will work 🤞

Nice video, sadly all materials for raised beds are really expensive atm, can you do a video later in the summer so we can all see how your strawberries are doing please

Yeah they should wick water I’m hoping
They worked well on my outside worm bed they seemed to insulate quite well also
