Most likely, 1/2 HP will be alright, if you're going to use it all day long, you could try a 3/4 but I think that would be overkill. If you're talking about sanding, I would think 2400rpm would be fine as that would be about the running speed of a motor. normal range is around 1400rpm And to do that you would need belts and such. Just running the sander off the motor spindle would be fine, as seen in the video (just keep in mind the load on the motor, overheating and wiring and voltage requirements in your area

I don't know what they used, However, if your looking to do it at home, bees wax, and carnauba wax both do a great job for high-speed polishing
