  • In the middle of the Atlantic Ocean there's a few small Portuguese islands called the Azore Islands and they're pretty cool. I landed in the main island Sao Miguel, at the capital, Ponta Delgada and join me as we take in first impressions of this really interesting city. Some people even think that these islands are last location of Atlantis! Pretty cool - I highly recommend a trip here! ✈️🇵🇹.

Correction. Island is São Miguel, largest island of the Azores archipelago. Largest city on the island and capital of the Azores is Ponta Delgada. Ponta Delgada is 1 of 6 Municipalities on the island including Ribeira Grande, Vila Franca Do Campo, Lagoa, Povoação, and Nordeste. Each municipality has its surrounding parishes. Was there in February and can honestly say it was the prettiest place I have ever been too. It was so green and lush. Climbing the volcanic craters of Sete Cidades, Lagoa do Fogo, and Furnas is a must and some of the most beautiful landscapes you’ll ever see. The locals are great, the food is amazing and you always feel safe. February is the coldest month of the year and it averages 17 degrees Celsius during the day. Great place to retire.

@@MikeLikesToTravel Thanks bro. Just really take an interest in places I visit. Ask the locals a lot of questions plus Wikipedia is my friend. This place especially really touched my heart. I genuinely want to retire there.

Good video man. I wanted to ask you, how many days do you think one would need to get to know the island well? I am planning on going for 4 full days. Thanks in advance.

Was there in February and found food and drink cheap compared to where I live in Toronto, Canada. These islands pride themselves on being self sufficient and sustainable. Their sub-tropical climate plus volcanic fertile soil helps them to grow almost everything from pineapples to passion fruits to bananas. They have the freshest fish I’ve ever tried and their dairy and meat products are not only abundant but of the highest quality. Was surprised that for the quality how reasonably priced everything was.
